I regard this as Jeff trying to keep up with the kenaos and calmans and gmgs. that is because, the week before he/kenao reinstalled Windows, there was a bit of FreeBSD action.
Seriously speaking, Jeff is merely joining the program we now are all in on.
- HIstory:
Jeff reinstalled Win2k on madcow on Friday in the early afternoon (3/2/01) after first wiping the hard drive.
I consider this a smart practice, and the real labs on campus reinstall from images on macs/pcs every 6 months at minimum.
Computers in educational labs cannot go without refreshment. Neither can I.
Anyway, Jeff's GF was giving him non-sexual foreplay for like 20 minutes while he was in the admittedly awkward position of trying to do what any guy with a cpu bent enjoys, which is hanging out with his fellow cpu guys and "maintaining" a pc system.
I pushed Jeff to leave, and then took over the PC after he did. I then spent at least 5 hours installing various software applications, patching them and windows, etc. I swear, the machine asked to be rebooted 20 times or so.
I also tested out APCC's power management software, which I think is cool.
Now, madcow can power down based on direct communication with the Back-UPS 650 unit, although I didn't install a network-based shutdown client.
I also forgot to install dnetc.
