plague.ocf
OS/OS
Windows2000 + Debian Linux
Issues/History
- issues as of march 2001:
- Debian Linux does not yet support a working graphical frontend, known as X.
- late feb2k1: Steve swapped hard drives with BLIGHT because, he said of his borken PLAGUE at the time, "I think the hard drive's having errors."
Everyone else laughs at this because Steve's troubles obviously stem from other errata.
- WIndows is not being taken care of, and basic productivity apps are missing such as teraterm pro ssh, powerpoint viewer, adaptec cd creator, virus definition updates....
I have to install them FOR him. what happened to responsibility? then again, the SM hasn't put out a checklist of what software is required... I should do that.
- history
basically steve callahan has been babying/raping the gateway known as
plague.ocf since at least august 2000.
I wouldn't have any problems with this, except:
- he has been trying to install linux and windows on that athlon PC multiple
times since then.
- steve has gotten X working only with extensive help from OCF root staff
with foo, and then brags about it as well as BREAKING the OS with windows update-like "apt-get everything" -- worse than windows, actually. he's actually not so skilled, though more than myself.
once startx is achieved, he then moves to make his Xsession all prettied and
glitzed
up, to look like he has foo or something.
I believe that Steve has very weak unix administration capabilities.
I also don't think he should have root on OCF in any form, even read access.
Grade: F
