  • A list of local worm vendors -- if you were looking for worms from us, here's where to look!

  • Alameda County Waste Management Authority
    call their ROTLINE at 510.444.SOIL for answers to basic composting questions. good for troubleshooting. their website www.stopwaste.org is excellent. They have a great "how to do worm compost" guide and the list of local worm vendors.

  • The Ecology Center - 2530 San Pablo Ave. Berkeley
    offers classes, sells and loans many books, and houses a seed exchange library. call for hours and info: 510.548.2220.

  • Worm Digest maintains a great website devoted to worm composting, featuring past articles, commercial worm bin reviews and other resources. their Worm Forum is a good place to ask questions, or find answers to questions you haven't thought to ask.

  • The Happy D Ranch has a useful freguently asked questions page, and also sells vermicomposting products (which we have neither used nor endorse).

  • Green Mountain Technologies
    made our Earth Tub, and makes a number of other industrial-scale composting monsters. they're nice folks.

  • The Rodale Book of Composting by Rodale Press, Inc.
    a great, readable book covering all types of composting as well as some nitty-gritty on soil structure.
