Kenya

Once upon a time I really did not enjoy grad school.  I applied to the Peace Corps and had a tentative assignment to teach math in Sub-Saharan Africa starting October 6, 2006.  I told this to the professor I've worked for for a couple years, and he basically said, "How about I send you to Africa instead?"  So I went.  I lived in Busia, Kenya for six months starting in September 2006.  I climbed Kilimanjaro (in just over 24 hours), ran the Nairobi marathon, went to the World Social Forum, rafted on the Nile, swam in the Indian Ocean, met wonderful people, and did really interesting and worthwhile research.  Here are my favorite 99 photos.  For a more detailed explanation of what I did, plus more pictures, see the September '06-February '07 archives of my blog.
