Be Organized. I need to be organized to be an effective teacher. This means going into the school year with my lesson plans ready for the first month, and planning during the weekends for the following week. It also means keeping track of the exam dates and verifying my students' progress to meeting (and exceeding!) the bar.

Be Assertive. With my new coworkers and my new boss and my new students and their parents, I will need to be firm across the board to gain respect. (But of course, I'll need to remember to back that up with excellent work.)

Take Time Out for Myself. Along with working hard, I will need to remember to make my own needs a priority, whether that means carving out a chunk of time to go dancing on Fridays or designating Saturdays to be my "off" day.

Enjoy Being Single. I think this is the first time in years that I will be single for an extended period of time (ie. over 2 weeks). With the busy school year coming up, I don't see myself looking to build a quality relationship anytime soon. So, I want to just enjoy this singlehood and to really take time to feel single and fabulous. :)

Be Courageous. I always have this problem when I go to a new place, with being not self-assured and having a hard time taking risks. This year, I want to be bold and to believe in myself. This means being the first to let my guards down around people..

Remember Why I Am Here. I expect my first year to be extremely challenging, but if I can remember that I am fortunate to be following my heart and doing what I've always wanted to do, I think I will be fine.

Be Better About Finances. I am going to try putting the maximum amount into my retirement funds, and seeing if what is left will be enough for me to spend for the year.

Make Plans to Travel. If I can possibly squeeze in some savings by the end of the school year, I would like to go to France next summer (2007). :) But, either way, I would like to make plans to travel up and down the East Coast within the next few years!
