Other Alumni Associations in Oklahoma City

This is the "we are not old Classen High" page.  :)  One might be suprised how many questions I get about Classen and other schools in OKC.  Here is all the info you need.

Not yet on the net

Classen closed down as a high school about 1983 (?), reopened a year later as a 5th year center, where a couple thousand fifth graders attendedthe school for one year.  After many years of (correct) indignation with this system, district parents and others forced the close of the fifth year centers and the return of 5th graders to local elementary schools. In 1994, following the passage of an $89 million bond issue, Classen reopened as a secondary school for the gifted and talented.  Renamed the "Classen School of Advanced Studies", it serves sixth through twelth graders with programs for academically and artistically talented students. The high schoolers follow the International Bacchalaureate program, a rigorous program of advanced academic studies.  (Editorial note -- this would all be really neat if it didn't drain resources from students who really need it.  Sorry, just my opinion).

Through all of this, the alumni association has been very supportiveof the school (yeah alumni!), and have established a museum in the south wing on the first floor.

I don't know as much about Central.  The building was sold a number of years ago and is now an office building for Southwestern Bell, though it still contains the Central High museum in the basement.  Their web page is really neat, and is set up alot like ours.
