What do we Offer? Our programming includes the Friday Film Series, free Noon Concerts on Lower Sproul Plaza, Comedy Competitions, Poker Tournaments, free Sneak Previews of upcoming movies, and more. All events are offered at discounts to Berkeley students and are wheelchair acccessible.

What were some Events Coordinated by SUPERB in the 2007-2008 School Year? In the 2007-2008 school year at Berkeley, SUPERB offered a wide variety of entertainment events, from concerts and sneak previews to full movies and popular game nights. Counting Crows highlighted the group of concerts that played. Tropic Thunder, 21, and Where in the World is Osama bin Laden? were a few of the main sneaks able to be shown by SUPERB. Juno, I am Legend, Atonement, and the Academy Award-winning No Country for Old Men were able to be shown by our Films department in renowned Wheeler Hall. Among the most popular events offered by the Comedy and Games departments were Poker Night, Sports Trivia Night, and Open Mic Comedy Night.

Interested in Joining SUPERB? We have info sessions in the beginning of both semesters to recruit new interns. Formal written blurbs of departmental positions will be put here later. If you want to apply, please submit your resume and cover letter to our office in 4 Eshleman Hall, specifying which departments you would like to apply for. Due to budget and time constraints, we are no longer offering a formal committee for SUPERB. If you like to help out, please come to the events. If you like to formally be part of SUPERB, please apply for an internship position. Thank you for your understanding. We have hiring orientations on 09/08/08 and 09/11/08 in MLK at 7pm.

Important Facts about the Services We Offer: We require at least three weeks advanced notice for all sound requests. We will always quote you $100/hour, BUT that is subject to negotiation, depending on where the event is, the nature and length of the event, and several other variables. Click here to download our Lower Sproul Reservation Sheet to help plan your event. University sound restrictions state that amplified sound is ONLY allowed between the hours of 12pm noon and 1pm, and also between the hours of 5pm and 7pm for Lower Sproul with a max sound restriction of 100 dB. For more details on requirements on campus, please check with Campus Life and Leadership located in Sproul Hall..

1. Plan out how you want the event to be, what kind of room you want, and how big the event will be, etc. The following are some general procedural guidelines:

2. Check with Campus Life and Leadership (CLL) or Building Operations (B-Ops) for venue/room availability.

3. Depending on the nature and location of the event, SUPERB sound may not be required. Upper Sproul already has sound, and B-Ops can provide basic sound stuff.

4. If it is determined that SUPERB sound is required, contact us for availability of our services. In an email to superbsoundrequests@gmail.com with the subject line "SUPERB services needed...", please be very specific as to the date, time, location, intended size of the event, and what exactly you need. We will get back to you ASAP about our availability.

5. If the venue and SUPERB (if needed) are both available, reserve the location/space.

6. Fill out all the necessary forms with CLL.

7. Schedule a time to come by the SUPERB office (4 Eshleman Hall) to fill out all the necessary paperwork and negotiate the price. Remember, before we can confirm any sound rental, we need a copy of the reservation confirmation from the applicable place (i.e. - CLL, B-Ops, the city, etc.).

Disclaimer: ASUC SUPERB seeks to not only provide quality entertainment to the UC Berkeley student body and surrounding community, but also to ensure that such entertainment -- be it movies, bands, or comedians -- is suitable for all audiences. However, given the wide diversity exhibited from Berkeley students and residents, SUPERB understands that some may still find the content it sponsors offensive. SUPERB does not, in any way, shape, or form, condone discrimination based on race, ethnicity, sex, gender, religion, or any other physical or spiritual characteristic.
