The Center of Evaluation for Global Action (CEGA) at UC Berkeley seeks to improve development outcomes, by designing and rigorously testing strategies for poverty alleviation in low- and middle-income countries. As the name suggests, CEGA also seeks to bridge the gap between scientific research and social action, by equipping policy-makers donors with the knowledge and training needed to improve development practice.
The UC Berkeley Center for Emerging and Neglected Diseases (CEND) fosters innovative research and training to accelerate the discovery of new medicines and diagnostics for infectious diseases that disproportionately afflict the poor. The Center brings unparalleled resources for cutting-edge research to health problems—particularly those in the developing world—that have been neglected by traditional markets. CEND faculty members study a broad range of issues related to infectious disease, from pathogenesis and mathematical epidemiology to innovation economics and intellectual property law.
