Relevant excerpt from the OCF News Page for 2/2/2000:
Wednesday, Feb 2nd, 2000, 17:52. Today was our OCF/CollegeHire.com startup jobs fair. The event ran from 12 to 4pm in Pauley Ballroom, and was not without birthing difficulties. Overall the fair was a success. Prizes were won, pizza was eaten in volume (over 150 large boxes of FatSlice and WestCoast). Many startups had or were run by Cal grads, which was nice. The fair is over now and save for the New Lab (which this fair is in part funding), Devin and Ken can now relax a bit. After all, they are no longer OCF's General Managers (Stephen M is now OCF GM, since Monday January 31st's general meeting and elections -- we still need a Secretary of PR and General Secretary though!!). A huge thank-you to everyone who helped out with the fair~~~!!
Building Ops: Tom B (sign board), John O. (sound), Jimmy P (heavy lifting), Richard W (Pauley)
The companies: they're listed at our careerfair page; of important mention is CollegeHire, who co-sponsored our fair. I got to see my buddy Ben who's now at eBenefits, which was fun. -ken
Parking Services: Alesia W (permits on the day of...)
ASUC Auxiliary: Lavonia W (finance handling)
ASUC: FiComm & folks
OCF Staff: Suzie T, Stephen M (MLK parking), Akop P, Eugene K (daily cal ads), Eugene C (digital camera), Wayne K. Devin and Ken O took care of overall preparation, event logistics, etc etc etc. Also helpful at the fair were: Jeff, Jason C, Ivan, Bem, and S eve. And especially Judy!! Mike H fixed my rotating light![..snip..]
Report filed by Ken 20:30PST update: Eugene has uploaded all the digital pictures he took at the jobs fair. They are located here. Lots and lots of yummy pictures! We hope you have cable or xdsl ;)
Post-fair information.
We raised a lot of money for our new computer lab, to be built under Pauley Ballroom in MLK, overlooking Bancroft and Telegraph Avenues.
We are guessing (for now) that over 400 students came, that over 40 companies were represented, and that over 100 large pizzas were consumed.
A few photos from the fair are available for your perusal.
