Note From the Alumni Chair

Esteemed Alumni,

Welcome to Alpha Sigma Phi, Nu chapter. I would like to first start by saying how exciting it is to be an Alpha Sig right now. Just a few years ago, this chapter was down to only 5 members and faced the possibility of being shut down. Thankfully, this tragic fate never occurred. Instead, brothers fought for the Old Gal and raised its membership to 20 active brothers in two short years. This brings us to where we are today, a chapter of 20 of the brightest young men here at Cal who will continue to inspire the chapter to grow every semester into a fraternity that brings new light to the Alpha Sig name. Additionally, Alpha Sigma Phi chapters have begun growing all over the west coast. Over the next couple of years new chapters will be chartered at many of the west coast’s finest schools in addition to UC Berkeley, at locations such as UC Davis and SF State. It truly is an exciting time to be an Alpha Sig.

As an Alpha Sig, you are a brother for life. This statement holds ever true here at Nu chapter. Every year we host a number of Alumni functions such as Alumni Picnic, Black and White formal dinner, Founder’s Day dinner, football game day tailgates and the occasional BBQ just for fun. In addition, we love to have alumni participate in ritual events such as Induction and Initiation ceremonies. Brothers from all chapters are welcome and encouraged to drop by any time even if it’s just to meet some new Brothers and see the house. With this said, we at Nu chapter hope to see you at our next event.

Alumni Picnic

Brothers recently hosted the Alumni Picnic on Nu Chapter's new deck. Alumni had the chance to meet the six newly initiated brothers of the Beta Gamma class. Some alums even found themselves playing soccer with brothers at the new Underhill Field. Pictures of the fun are on the way.

Black and White

Esteemed Alumni,

The deadline to RSVP (Thursday, April 17th) for Black and White is approaching rapidly and I would like to remind everyone of how amazing this Black and White will be. As of this semester, Nu chapter membership has grown from only 5 Brothers just two years ago to 20 Active members. As such, this year’s Black and White holds special significance as it signifies the tremendous growth achieved and the quality of Alpha Sigs recently initiated.

This year’s Black will be held at Scott’s Seafood at Jack London Square, Oakland.

It will feature:
- A full service Bar
- Appetizers of Chicken Quesdillas and Fresh chips and Guacamole
- Mixed greens salad

Meal choices of one of the following:
- Grilled King Salmon
- Wild Mushroom Chicken Piccata
- Roasted Vegetable Ravioli

Vanilla Ice Cream with Tea and Coffee will be provided for dessert.
