Relay for Life

This year Relay for life will be on April 21th at Edwards Stadium near the RSF. For those of you who haven't heard of Relay for Life, it is an annual event where participants participate in raising awareness as well as fund-raise for the fight against cancer. Every team tries to have people walking the track almost 24-7 to symbolize the never ending fight to end cancer. We hope to be very involved in the event this semester by having tents and informational booths about different cancers.  If you are interested click on the following link, press sign up and then join a team. After that select the "UC Berkeley AMSA" team. http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=40059&team_id=1045193

Chaparral House

Come volunteer at Chaparral House, a local skilled nursing facility, on April 8th from 9:30-12:00. As future physicians, you will be interacting with different populations of patients and as caretaker you will have to gain their trust. It's important now to practice building a relationship with your patients and this is where Chaparral House comes in. Once you start volunteering on a regular basis, you can start to form this bond and be someone they can trust. However, if you can't volunteer on a regular basis, please come out anyways because it is a great experience and the seniors really do appreciate it.
