Membership

Why should you become a member of AMSA? Because membership is at the core of our philosophy. By becoming a member of AMSA, you make it possible for us to put on better events for you and create a friendly pre-med community to provide resources. Most of all, it means that you want to make the difference with AMSA!

Benefits:
Members have special access to AMSA's offerings such as priority access to club events such as suturing classes and CPR classes when only a limited number of spots are available, field trips to medical schools, scholarships to pre-med conferences and more. Also, members get discounts for MCAT prep classes with Kaplan! For more information about member Benefits, click here.

Requirements:
To become a member of AMSA @ Cal, there is no GPA requirement. Instead, all we ask is a creative mind and the commitment of our members to make our organization better. There is a $10 local chapter membership fee due which goes towards funding our volunteer projects, social events, and attending pre-med conferences. National dues are $35 annually or $75 for four years. National membership is mandatory to be active in the local chapter, but our total membership fees are paid as an annual lump sum or lump sum of how many years you plan to be an AMSA member. See our application for more info.

Application:
To join AMSA(local and national), come to our meetings to pick up an application or down load the brochure (side 1, side 2), fill it out, and submit it to any one of our officers along with the membership fee and a $5 late registration fee. Applications can be turned in at the general meetings. The deadline for Fall 2009 is rolling, and due at our general meeting.

Member Standing:
Although members are not required to attend all events and general meetings, we highly encourage our members to be active participants. Our member standing point system could earn you great prizes at the end of the school year in the semester! Read more here.
