Oh, yes. After a long day of hiking around the cold, wet, rainy cliffs of the Peninsula, we had what I considered our very first decent meal of the trip. Dunedin's Galata Kebab House, which does not appear to have a website yet, served up some really tasty and satisfying falafel, among other authentically prepared Middle Eastern cuisine.
Ethnic food, I concluded, is the only good food in New Zealand.
P.S. I ordered the "apple tea," which turns out to mean "apple juice served hot" in Kiwi. No tea is involved, but I liked it a lot.
