Here is a glimpse of the storminess that surprised us back in Hokitika.
We were in a minivan zipping down the rainy highway, driven by the only lady bus driver we had. Like everybody else, she was friendly, helpful, and kind. And boy, can she lift heavy luggage.
She was only driving us a short distance. Soon after I had taken these photos, we stopped in a parking lot where a small bus was waiting to take us across the entire width of the South Island, through Arthur's Pass, and into Christchurch on the other side.
