20051219 - Going to Taipei, Taipei 101

Emily had EVA Lounge access with her card so Angela and I had to wait outside for her. It wasn't all that bad though because Emily was able to smuggle out some stuff. Still though, we had to endure some condescending looks from people coming out. We almost didn't go to the lounge cause it was near the security check not the gate itself.

Me being dorky while waiting for the smuggler...

Here are the things that Emily was able to smuggle to us...some juice, a sandwich, and 2 containers of Kong Ro (Stewed Pork) rice. Those 2 containers were awesome! Good job Emily!!!

That's all the other stuff that was brought on the plane. Before we left, Emily and I had dinner at her family friend's place so we brought leftovers for Angela who had just finished her last final that day.

I think this picture is fish and the picture below if pork. That's airplane food for ya...can't tell which is which. The fish was good though.

Pork? Chicken? Some kind of white meat.

Angela doesn't like her selection...luck of the draw...still, it's usually a good idea to go with the Chinese-style dish not the Western-style dish especially for breakfast. Runny eggs are not good on a plane.

EVA branded noodles...pretty good but anything is good when you're hungry.

Angela sound asleep...hehehe, when the guy next to her sat down, she turned to us and whispered,"Not cute."

Bored out of their minds, they plugged in their ipods and perused brochures about Taiwan.

Who's sleeping on the couch?

Uh oh...I've been discovered!

AHHHHHHHH!!! OMG...scariest creature ever!

Them claws are sharp!!!

After arriving at my parent's studio in Taiwan, I went down to the Quicky Mart for breakfast. Good stuff...

Hmmmmmm....goood!!!

What's Cathy doing?

Ahhhh....playing World of Warcraft. This sight was quite common while I was there...she's like a Level 60 Night Elf.

View from the small hallway. Cathy and I slept on the couches.

My dad got a LCD TV for the studio. It fit perfectly in the whole layout of the place.

I liked the decorations Mom and Dad put in. They brought some of them over from the US.

View from the bedroom area. The designers of the place put storage spaces everywhere...

Went to see 101 afterwards...crazy tall building...you almost feel like it's just a picture...I like it a lot...no matter that it looks like stacked trashcans, it looks cool!!!

101 from here...

101 from there...

101 from different angles...excellent subject...doesn't move at all. :-)

Fountain outside of the shopping mall at the foot of 101.

This person is "fong-le" or crazy. She was laughing so much as if she's never seen a fountain before.

Posh shopping center...

Atrium is below the top level of the shopping center. The top level circles the atrium.

I liked the pillars and the capitals a lot. Like modern retro. Most similar to Ionic capitals.

You need to pay to ride to the top (well near the top anyway).

Luckily there weren't that many people in line...

Mural

Aren't they just the most interesting columns ever? They have a Giger quality about them...

No cameras?!!! Are you kidding me?!!! Whatever...

My sister told me that the layout of the stores depends on their level of poshness. Watsons, Baleno on the bottom floor...Prada, Bulgari, Gucci on the top floor.
