So hmm, as you might have noticed I've really changed the layout of my site. This has been brewing in the back of my mind for a while now and over the past 2 days, I've actually hunkered down and done it. It's more like a newspaper format now and I feel is much easier to read. I'm still working on the pictures section but I should have pics coming out on a much more regular basis. Yesterday, after the History lecture that I went to with Leah, we decided to go eat. At first we were going to go to Mr. Chau's (a racist Chinese fast food chain in Sn Jose) so we could get in on their deal regarding the Renaissance Faire but while going down University, we decided to go to Hot Pot instead. Although I had Japanese Ramen for lunch, I was still able to eat heartily. Although Leah mind controlled me into getting 3 plates of vegetables instead of just 1. Today, after I worked on and then finally uploaded this new site, we went to dinner with Chris at the Union Landing plaza where we had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. Pretty good sirloin but I felt that I liked Outback's prime rib better though. The Strawberry Margarita was pretty darn good though and incredibly large. Perhaps even bigger than the Strawberry Margarita over at Chevy's. Glad I shared mine with Leah. Chris had one to himself but he's used to alcohol being as he's an alkie and all. hahaha What's interesting about the theme of the place was how they had straw or wood chips all over the floor. I mentioned to Chris about how did they ever know when the place was dirty. Maybe restaurants in Chinatown should claim that their dirty floors are simply "environmental theme decorations" based on a theme of squalor. hehehe So anyways, here's the site and I'm sure there's going to more changes to it as I see fit. One of the first things I'm doing is getting that scratch board on the side done. And also importing some of my old blogs into this format.

Today after work, I picked up Leah and we went to Hayward's Olive Garden for lunch. Both of us got the All-you-can-eat soup deal. Great stuff especially since I love the Zuppa Toscana. Yum Yum. We hung around Southland Mall where I got the super slicer thingy that allows me to make mincemeat out of things like garlic in seconds. That was at the "As Seen On TV" store that has all the cool stuff that's on TV but I was too afraid to buy it through the phone. Tonight I made more fish (Rainbow Trout). Tomorrow should be a meat/vegetable product. Have had too much fish over the past few days. Also bought the 2 orange juice dealy from Safeway. With Leah sick and me with a little sniffle, we'll be done in a few days only. From the cell... Where do most of the world's diamonds come from? South Africa

Not too much happened yesterday besides my trip to IGN for the intern interview. Interesting place, I'd love to work there. The headquarters reminds me a lot of Pixar. I interviewed with the Editor in Chief of the PC section. His desk had game boxes piled sky high it was so cool. I looked over his desk at the other desks and saw XBOXs and other good stuff. If I get the job though, its going to be hard balancing 3 jobs and school at the same time. Hope I'll make it. Leah is feeling under the weather so I've been making food more often now. Couple days ago I made Tomato/Sausage/Eggs/Green Onion/Chicken omelette. :-D yesterday I made sauteed fish again but this time i used green onions instead of parsley and mushrooms as well as the garlic. I went to Carl's for lunch yesterday and then went over to the Pusan Korean Market on Telegraph. Bought the good stuff I used for the fish and also some meat, which I used in a stir fry kind of way with green onions/garlic/sliced mushrooms. I also bought some Uni (yumm yumm) and something called Sea Squirt which was incredibly disgusting. I tasted a bit and threw it out. I wish I had bought more Uni instead. On Sunday, Wei-Lin and Michelle came back from their vacations. Wei-Lin was happy over these pirated Edison cds Michelle got. These weren't everyday pirated copies either. Good quality stuff with packaging and everything. Last night, me and Leah met up with her friend, Laura at Cafe Strada and then went back to the apartment. After watching a little Simpsons, Leah and Laura challenged me to Trivial Pursuit. With 2 brains against mine they beat me soundly 6 slices - 1 slice. Horribly defeated I retreated into my corner. haha no Laura and me played a game, and it was really close but I eventually got my final slice (6-5). It really ended up being who was lucky enough to guess right or get an easy question. My last was one about Patsy Cline, which I was lucky enough to guess correctly since she was the only deceased Southern female artist I knew of. After I dropped off Laura at Underhill, I went back and played the new demo disc from the new XBOX magazine. GunMetal was interesting, like Robotech but without the license. The plane mode was hard to pick up though I tended to nosedive too often. Timesplitters 2 was really cool. Frustrating like Goldeneye (same programmers actually) but much better graphics. After a couple of hours I was able to complete the level without dying. I'm sure Chris would really really love that game seeing as how he can't get enough of Goldeneye (the satellite level). I've never actually seen him finish it actually. hahahaha I really want to convert this site to the new layout but I don't ever seem to have the time.
Me and Leah went to Dim Sum today in Oakland. Good stuff all around. Ate all of my favorites...we got another kind of comforter today cause the one we got yesterday wasn't warm enough. Made dinner tonight after we went to Costco with Wai-Lin and Joe. Looked around but all I got were 2 hot dogs. :-D From my cell... Leah got done with her story so we went to look at some better comforters for her on College at this place called Warm Things. Good place. I'm thinking about getting a comforter cover and a sleeping bag. We then went to Target to return the comforter she bought 2 days ago. Since it was for exchange only, we needed to find stuff to get instead. I got a 3 million candle power flashlight (even brighter than my old 1 million candle power...hehe) and a neon flash thingy for the car. Man that flashlight is bright. For dinner, I got stuff at Church's chicken to complement the Carl's Jr I had for lunch. hehe Oh yeah, I got into the 3rd round of the intern process at IGN. I'm setup to go to their headquarters tomorrow at 2PM to interview for the job. It would be the first time I've ever worked for free but I'm thinking that the experience would be worth it. Anyways, we'll see if it's going to be worthwhile. Today is the first day of classes here at Berkeley and already there's a strike by the lecturers and clerical staff. More later.
I'm updating from the depths of the Musical Activities building right now. Leah's doing a story for the Daily Cal over at Eschlemann so I'm doing an update to pass the time. Hmm, so yesterday we went to look for Homeopathy places in Berkeley, found one but it was closed. Then we went to Target so Leah could get a better comforter and pillow. We did that and then met up with Adam, Chris, Honda, Masa, and Chris's friend Priscilla at the Pinole Bowling place. Me and Leah watched them make fools of themselves...actually Chris bowled an impressive turkey which we were not on hand to see. After that, we went to the Emeryville Chevy's, were I had the Mixed Grill. Masa had ordered some skewered thing but when the server asked who had the mixed grill, he must have raised his hand. You'd think that he'd realize that what was in front of him wasn't the correct plate since it had no skewers but he proceeded to eat away. The servers figured out the problem to my chagrin and I was left with a Masa-fied plate of food. The lemon had been used and shrimp tails were on the side. shudder shudder...anyway, I made the best of the situation, called a Haz-Mat team on the scene and promptly detoxed the food...hahaha jk...I just asked for a replacment shrimp for the 2 that he had of mine. Oh yeah, the whole reason for this day out was because it was Honda's 30th birthday. Crazy stuff. We got the Chevy people to sing a song for Honda and they gave him a special sombrero for the occasion. He seemed pretty happy. Today, me and Leah went to the Lawrence Hall of Science Museum to get quotes for a Daily Cal story on the Sesame Group. Brian Harvey, a CS prof here at Cal, was there as well. And that led up to now...Chris on my suggestion that they go to Chinatown, did so but apparently locked both him and Adam out of the car by leaving the keys inside. Wonder if they got the keys back by now. From my cell... What country is the birthplace of the Polka? Czechoclovakia

So me and Leah went to the Giant's game versus the Mets. First we went to Macy's to see if we could find boots that Leah liked there. Didn't have much success so we just went to the Wolfgang Puck Cafe in the basement of Macy's. If you haven't had the rotisserie chicken with the garlic mashed potatoes, then you're missing out on a really good thing. We went on the Muni N line to Pac Bell Park early just to check out the park beforehand. Pac Bell Park is such a nicely built park, it's everything I imagined a ballpark should be like. The pictures that I took were pretty amazing. Although Barry Bonds didn't homer that night, it still was pretty neat to be in that atmosphere. Midway through, we went to get some food, namely the Gilroy Garlic fries (which were amazingly good). I think the only thing I had a problem with were the restrooms (well ventilated but privacy is a low priority). Yesterday, we went to Hilltop Mall to see if we could find that right pair of boots. Although, we once again were unsuccessful, not all was lost since I was able to get myself a XBOX case (Naki model). After Hilltop, we headed to Coriya Hot Pot and met up with Adam and Masa. Good stuff, good hot pot. Today, I went with Adam to around Emeryville and then to Fremont, where we stopped at Fry's. I got Kabuki Warriors for the XBOX (low reviews I know but it was only $15) and an usb adapter for memory cards. After I headed back to Berkeley, leaving Adam behind in Fremont, me and Leah went to 99 Ranch to get some needed food for dinner. The tiger fish we had today with the sautee was pretty good but probably not as good as the perch we had a few days ago. We're done with the Simpsons Season 1 DVDs and moving on the Season 2.

Went to Macaroni Grill with Joe, Wai-Lin and Leah on Monday. I had my favorite dish there "Spaghetti and Meatballs" since I never walk away from it unsatisfied. I shared a Leaning Bellini with Leah and found it to be quite tasty. Much better than that rum martini I had at the Velvet Lounge aways back. Afterwards, we headed to Barnes and Noble, where I purchased "The Simpsons: Season 2" for my collection. They didn't have Season 1 but more on that later. After hanging there a bit, we went to the karaoke bar at around 9. After a few hours of singing, me and Leah got a bit tired so we went to Daimo for a late night snack. I ordered my "Doh Miao" and some cold sliced meat. When the server came and asked if I was ready, I answered in chinese, "Woa hai bu kuh eii" roughly translated to mean "I cannot at this time". Sounded really weird since I should have said instead, "Woa hai mei yo chui deen" roughly translated to mean "I still haven't decided". Leah found this to be really funny when I told her. :-P The server probably thought I was waiting for like the moons to align or something. hahaha Oh yeah, I saw Chris at karaoke with Lori...no surprise since Adam told me that he'd be there. Apparently Adam is scaring the karaoke people with the frequency that he goes. hahaha pretty soon, they're going to make him an honorary salesman with all the business he brings to them. Wai-Lin went down yesterday to LA, so yesterday was just me and Leah. I had already eaten Japanese ramen with Adam while Leah was sleeping which meant that Leah was hungry when she woke up. We went to 99 Ranch where she got noodle soup and a roll, while I got just a roll (couldn't help myself with all that good MSG-infused food around). After that, we went to the japanese kitchenware store where Leah got a small bento box and a sake cup set (instead for us it would probably be a Smirnoff shot set...:D). After getting some essentials from 99 Ranch (soy milk, eggs), we went to Barnes and Noble to get a Hemingway book. I read "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" there because my copy was still at Leahs. Oh yeah have to remember to lend her the "What Teachers don't teach you" book. hmm...read up to Book 3 of Tree/Brooklyn. It's been pretty good so far. What's great is when I come to a great passage and Leah knows the book well enough to know exactly what I'm talking about. That makes it seem as if we're reading the book together. I wonder if she's seen the black and white movie based on this book. After a bit, we went to Best Buy, where I got "The Simpsons: Season 1". So many Simpsons. Last night, we made Perch sauteed with garlic/parsley which smelled so darn good!!! And it tasted amazing with rice. We watched some of the season 1 and saw a few Simpsons episodes that I had never seen before. Good stuff. Got to sign off for now...more updates later when I get a chance. I scored tix to the Giant's game today vs the Mets.
Long time no update. Last week during the meteor showers, me and Leah came up with a list of things to memorize one after another in the game I guess could be called "My Aunt Sally went to France with a hugeA$$ luggage and brought with her...". Here's the list in its entirety. 1 a pair of plungers
2 Guiness book of world records
3 star gazing map
4 Joe
5 metal rod thingy that is at the back of cars
6 Star Wars Return of the Jedi Special Edition
7 a red ivory handled butcher knife
8 Wai Lin's keychain with the heart on it
9 shaving cream
10 Romeo and Juliet
11 a leather triple braided whip
12 unicorn from Blade Runner
13 republican section of the senate
14 donald from mathmagic land
15 khufu pyramid
16 bi7ch j3nny
17 girl scouts selling trefoils
18 the red pill from the Matrix
19 Robert Downey Jr's alcohol case
20 Cindy Crawford's baby
21 Bill Clinton's cigar
22 Carrottop from the 1800 commercials
23 YoYoMa's cello
24 crickets from that REM song
25 harmonica from blues traveler
26 line demarkating the proposed flow of strawberry creek
27 deneuralyzer from MIB 2
28 strawberry shaped butter from Laura Ingalls Wilder
29 terminal A from the Oakland Airport
30 Orion
It's a pretty long list but it was fun to memorize. Yesterday, both of us were humming "Happy Shiny People" from REM. Before this weekend, we both thought the song to be pretty bizarre but in our current moods, its a pretty good song. Leah is an incredibly amazing person and I'm glad just to be around her. Turns out though that she just found out about my website yesterday. I'm going to have to stop talking about geeky stuff. Haha. Hmm...what happened this weekend...went to the Comedy Festival in SF and church on Sunday...went to the Planetarium on Saturday...not much happened on Friday except for Joe and Wai Lin who went to the John Mayer concert. Lucky them. Ok...Let's start from the beginning...on Friday I went to Berkeley Bowl with Leah to get stuff. Lots of people there which made it really cool. I have to remember not to park in the front because I saw a Civic that had its bumper really scratched in from a errant grocery cart. Bought some stuff that I needed which I used later that night to make oyster omelettes. On Saturday, we went to the Planet - arium (South Park reference) which was pretty interesting. Mostly because my friend from HS, Jeff Cox, was the guy doing the show!!! Cool stuff, since I haven't seen Jeff since forever and was wondering what he's up to. Jeff is now pre-law which means that he'll probably be doing what all of us in HS imagined him doing...being a lawyer. hehe :-) Jeff's never been to Todai, so I'm going to have to initiate another Todai newbie. I made Chinese Sausage Omelette that day. I also tried using my wok at home and was marginally successful. Going to have to try steaming when I get a chance. The Comedy Festival in Golden Gate on Sunday was pretty good except for the fact that it was really cold. But the jokes made us laugh so it was all good. Went to First Pres with Leah where there was a guest sermon (incredibly hard to keep awake, so I read the Bible to pass the time, and to reaffirm my faith that it would all be over soon...hehehe). It was an great and interesting experience none the less and I wouldn't mind going again. Later on, me and Leah just watched "Totoro", cause she hasn't seen any Ghibli movies and I thought it would be a good start. I probably should have started her off with KiKi or Laputa but those are all longer than Totoro and it was late. So I'm applying for an intern position at IGN.com one of the places that I never fail to visit every day. I was selected to write some articles based on press releases (probably still in a pool of thousands) but who knows? Maybe I'll get to work at IGN like how I got to work at Pixar. Hmm ok so Leah got her name in the Daily Cal several times since last. I still think its one of the coolest things to have your byline in the paper. Here are links to them... Complete Listing Oh yeah...I drew up a small sketch of what my next website layout will be. One of the first database implementations will be a scratch board that will allow random people to post a little blurb that will be displayed right on the page. I'm working on the tables and code for it in my spare time. I've been working on image spacing and stuff so it's still pretty complicated... Here's some stuff from my cell... Went to Blue Nile yesterday with Leah, Wai-Lin, and 2 of Wai-Lin's LA friends. I had the beef stew which in retrospect was too hard to eat using my fingers. After that, we headed out to North Beach to have some Tiramisu at Steps of Rome. It looked pretty moist and stuff but it turned out actually quite well. I had the Frutti Bocci? which was just raspberries on top of cheesecake. Pretty good as well. I'm having more and more fun with my S40 now. It's pretty weird. My cellphone and camera have the same name. I love the impromptu movie feature. 2 days ago, Stephanie (For-Yi) and Jennifer came up from SoCal to visit. Luckily John met up with them and mentioned that I was around. We hung out awhile and caught up with all thats happened since then. I really can't wait until I finally decide how the photo section is going to go up. Tons of issues to think about...anyways, so last night, me and Leah ended up playing Trivial Pursuit and I was incredibly impressed with her trivia ability. I think it was the first time that I really found a competitor to my inane and worthless knowledge of shit that really doesn't matter. I have a feeling that one of these days, she's gonna kick my ass in TP...not that I care that much about TP but I still can say that I've never been beaten at it yet. We even played Really Hard TP in which we choose a card at random and pick what we think is the hardest to pose to the opponent. I was able to guess pretty well during the game and I think I frustrated Leah when I got a "Remington" question, a "Patton" question, a "Mephistopheles" question, and some other random shi7. Got my mysql account, apparently it's an automatic process in ocf. Neat stuff. Hmm, I tried to make some Chawanmushi for the Fulton Group (they actually live on Fulton not Oxford). Went ok but definitely not like the first batch I made back in sophomore year. Had some late night Equinox and Oakland D&A Cafe eating a few days ago. Equinox for drinks and D&A for food. Me, Leah, and Wai-Lin had fruit cocktails while Joe had a Pina Colada. Good stuff. Nachos were pretty good but my clam chowder was really salty. At least I was able to wash it down with a black pepper short rib dinner later at D&A. Last night, me and Leah went to shoot some hoops since I got caught up with programming, we couldn't go swimming. Bball was fun though cause Leah got progressively better esp at free throws. I practiced my rebounds and made a few threes off the crooked rim. It was interesting playing in the dark towards the end. I thought that I'd be more scared playing in a public court on MLK late at night but it actually wasn't too bad. Afterwards, instead of helping Leah find a volunteer position, we rented the Muppet Movie and the Little Mermaid. I hadn't seen any of the Muppet Movies and was pleasantly surprised. Couple of the songs were pretty catchy although not as much as the Little Mermaid. I found myself kinda singing along to the Little Mermaid mostly due to the fact that my sis used to play the Little Mermaid tape over and over. I think I might have freaked out Leah with my knowledge of Little Mermaid. :-) Their apartment now has my Dreamcast and my Xbox. Pretty soon my computers will be over there and I'll have moved into Michelle's apartment. hahaha. Actually the best thing to move would be my TV but my Wega is hella heavy. We were only supposed to watch the Muppet Movie and a little bit of Mermaid but we ended up watching all of it. I didn't get home till somewhere between 2 and 3 in the morning. Still at work, I just submitted a request to ocf for a mysql account. Maybe I can start doing some of my jdbc (if they have access to java) or php (if they have access to php) stuff. My stomach has been giving me the ride...mostly at night and in the morning, it'll be asking for food. But if I didn't have lunch, which is usually the case, my stomach goes a little nuts. Today for example, I didn't have time to eat. Now I'm hungry, but I don't think going to Hot Pot would be a good idea. Consequently, I'm losing weight. I should try to eat more regular. I did happen to finish the 2nd tape of Roots with Leah off and on. I think that my middle school class stopped at around the 3rd tape. John has a case of food poisoning which seems to be happening to a few of my friends. I'm starting to get used to coming home at 1AM or 2AM now. Yesterday night, me and Leah did some sketches of each other. My attempt failed in the facial features while Leah's sketch got my expression but I thought she gave me too little hair (I did get a haircut recently). Wai-Lin said that the picture looked like me when I'm 40 or something. If I looked like that, I wouldn't mind too much I suppose. Interesting:

Not too much happened this weekend. Went to the Calperfs lunch thing and then headed intot eh SF Metreon Area. While Wai-Lin went shopping, me and Leah played a little pool. I scratched one too many times. That basically means that I need to really work on my game to get respectfully good. Traffic in SF was a really bad monster so I really had no time to look for stuff for myself. I saw "Road to Perdition" today with Wai-Lin after her shift at CalPerfs ended. I thought the movie was pretty good although I saw the ending coming from a mile away. Didn't see Signs this weekend so I kind of did the bad and went to www.themoviespoiler.com and saved myself 8 bucks. After reading the spoilers for a lot of different movies, I usually come out glad that I didn't pay to watch it. Looks like Signs has a great 3/4 of a movie but then just has a never-ending ending. Chris came by today and I had him play the Omaha Beach level of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. It really hit home how scary it must have been for the soldiers on D-Day. Very much like the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan.
Ack....worked so much today it was incredible. I think that besides perhaps 3 hrs total I was at CalPerfs most of the day. The Ailey Camp had a performance today so everything was really hurried and rushed. Eddie told me that he pulled the door in 411 open so that he could bump to the mad beats coming from the dress rehearsals. I get more and more tired each day with no more time for games. Will I lose my edge?
