Showed Chris the awesome game that is Dynasty Warriors. Adam came and tried to convince him that it was an incredibly repetitive game and that it wasn't much fun. Unfortunately, I proved that it wasn't all that repetitive and that there was strategy involved. Adam was unable to handle the Battle at Chi Bi (Jasmine are you reading this? They actually have a battle named Chibi! :-D) and was whomped on by one of the generals. I took over and was able to beat it in under 30 min. I realize now that in order to get points and good items, I can't just finish the level asap but I have to destroy everyone and as many generals as possible. Anyways, we played some disc golf at the Berkeley Aquatic Park Area with all of its water hazards. Luckily, I never threw it into the water although I came close to it once or twice. Chris lost a disc into the trees. A bum admonished us for not trying to get it out so we tried a bit but just managed to toss two branches into the trees rather than getting the disc out. Once this shoulder heals a bit I'll be able to see how well I can play without it being sore all the time. I'm doing ok with it right now and maybe I'll be able to drive farther with it not hurting so much.
Me and Leah went to Plearns for Thai food today, this being my first time ever. Pretty good stuff although the service just isn't as good as Thai House's is. They had pictures of Tiger Woods all over the front area. We had the Basil Pork and the Duckling. Next time I'm going to have to get some lime-coconut soup. That stuff looked really good. Behind us, a group of Cantonese students were discussing some marketing deal or something but it really was a pyramid scam. The guy even said,"This isn't a scam..." If he has to defend himself like that, then it's gotta be something fishy. I'm going to disconnnect my cable tv. I don't even watch it that much anymore.

Went to IHOP with Adam and Leah today. Chris is over from San Jose.
Hmm...I forgot to mention that a few days ago, I washed my car at this Do-It-Yourself place on University. Cost me all of $6 to get my car cleaned and vaccuumed. Good stuff. Um, Friday night nothing really happened. We went to IHOP in Emeryville. Great stuff and the menu was extra special since it really was catering to the soul-food eating population of Oakland, Berkeley, and Emeryville. They had fried clams, popcorn shrimp, jumbo shrimp, crab legs. I got the 20 ounce porterhouse deal for $15. Actually they charged me $10 but I didn't figure out the discrepancy until later. Plus, we waited for a long time for them to take my card but that time never came so I had to lay down some bills. Good stuff though, great price and so much food.
On Saturday, I played some XBOX Live!!! Yeah, the sound quality of the people talking on the net was awesome. Had lots of fun playing the Revolt game. Haven't tried out the football game but it sounds like lots of fun. Adam and I left the apartment at around 1PM to go play disc-golf in Santa Cruz. We were supposed to pick up Honda and go to Fremont (to pick up Jesse and Nate). However, Honda wanted to take a shower when we arrived so Adam and I went to Church's for some chicken. After we ate, Honda came out and we started our journey south. Traffic though was a bitch and we took a couple different routes to finally arrive in Santa Cruz at around 3:30PM. Disc-golf was really fun except I popped my right shoulder (the shoulder I normally throw frisbees with) on the second hole. Halfway through though, I found out how to throw the disc (kinda like a discus you might say). I think that if I concentrate I can give a Par-6 a run for the money. Some of the holes were incredibly cool like the one where you tee off of a small cliff. Adam tells me that there's a water hazard one in Berkeley that Jackson lost a few discs. I went online and found one in San Leandro and in San Jose as well. I guess Chris goes to the San Jose one often. After disc-golfing, we headed back to Berkeley but got a little sidetracked at Fry's because of the traffic in front of us. All I got was a lemonade, thank goodness. At Berkeley, we just had some leftovers but watched "Mighty Aphrodite" which had some pretty amusing parts. Mira Sorvina was kinda convincing as the bimbo.

So I got my long awaited games and I must say that I absolutely love Dynasty Warriors. Battles are just as good as I remembered it on the PS2 except now it's on my XBOX. Hmm...2 nights ago, we went to King Dong for dinner. It was my first time and I was surprised at how good it was. I'll have to ask Wai-Lin about what dishes she usually orders when she goes. Yesterday, I ate Shrimp w/ Scrambled eggs for dinner but also went to Berkeley Bowl to get oysters and veggies for Leah. I bought that Japanese drink with the marble in it, some strawberry Pocky, and some seasoned Uni. I went out and bought an advanced PHP book with some really interesting projects in it for me to follow and learn more about using it.
Which brings me to the next part. Look at the sidebar!!! Yep, I finally implemented the scratchboard where people can scratch their thoughts. Today I went back to Anzu and had some Curry Chicken and a Spicy Salmon Handroll. Curry Chicken was good but I think I've been spoiled by that japanese restaurant in Davis that has got the best Handroll I've ever had. That was after I got my haircut. Today's update won't be too long. I'll be stopping work at IGN for now due to some time difference I had with the editors. They wanted me to come in much more regular and I really couldn't handle that. There were quite a few cons such as how I wasn't having enough time for my work and my own personal projects. However, I was told that when I had worked things out I should give them a call and that's what I'll do. Working there was fun but I have some other prospects that I need to work out beforehand before throwing myself into the IGN pit. So anyways, earlier today I made my special 3 mushroom beef with noodles except with Leah's Taiwanese noodles. The 3 mushrooms are enoki, regular, and tree. That noodle stuff melted into the soup though and the soup didn't taste as good as when I used the Korean stuff. I'm thinking about buying a box of that Korean powder although I'm supposed to call up Eddie and do that. Oh yeah, he's free on Mondays. Roseville Sushi!!! hehe Leah made these really good cupcakes with frosting and sugar sprinkles on it. Good stuff, although in the oven the cupcakes like melded together in this big cupcake monster.
Me and Leah went to Safeway today so that she could return her shampoo for a conditioner (she picked up 2 shampoos). After that we went back to her place but not for long since we were getting hungry again. I called up the nearest IHOP on yp.yahoo.com but that one (Hilltop) said that they were closed and that we should try the 24 hr one in Emeryville. THAT was the one I remembered seeing somewhere but couldn't remember the day we went to Koryu instead. It's right next to Pixar. However, when we got there, the people said,"That no they weren't a 24 place and that they closed at 10PM." Bummer, so I'm here writing this update in Lyons which closes at midnight but Leah likes so much more than Denny's. Monday's are always wierd were Anzu and late-night Koryu are closed. On Monday's before I'd always order take-out from Hong Kong Place. Did you know that Lyon has all-you-can-drink JUICE? Geez, I'm totally going to fill up on OJ now that I know. No matter, that there's 2 OJs in the fridge. You get OJ wherever you can get it. I totally believe that OJ is the reason how I can stay sick-free for so long. I ordered the Lyon's Breakfast (3 eggs, 2 bacon, ham, sausage patty, hashbrown, 4 pancakes) while Leah ordered 2 measily sides. I think I would have scared her more if I had ordered the full-pound prime rib again. Leah made the observation about the people in late-night places and how many are overweight. This was probably a warning to me to not eat so much. ;-)
Now that some time has been freed, I'm going to work hard on putting up my database to this. I've tested the script and it works great but renaming my main.htm to a main.php is going to mess up my frontpage. I'm thinking about changing the front thing anyways cause it's not even accurate anymore.
What's in the news? Well that story on the woman that was videotaped hitting her kid like 20 times is big. At least mine is while Leah's Mashed Potatoes with Cole Slaw seems awefully small. I always order good stuff.

Most of the lunches now I either go without or eat at work. A little portable kitchen van pulls up at IGN around noon every day and honks its special melody horn. I've been getting the specials such as spaghetti meatballs and curry beef. I asked Aaron what I should stay away from and he said the chicken so I have. IGN has been incredibly fun. I've got to play the upcoming Ghost Recon and made some movies and screens that people on the boards have said that they liked. yay!! I watched Team IGN play Team Redmond on MechAssault LIVE. My beta LIVE kit should be coming in either this Monday or Tuesday. Friday, Leah went to work with me and afterwards we went to pick up Laura and go to Southland Mall. Got quite a bit or road rage in Berkeley. Maybe it was the time or something but Berkeley traffic is incredibly horrible, much worse than the traffic on the bridge even. Anyways, after we got to the mall, I got the Monster's Inc DVD and the guide for NCAA Football 2003. Though I know a lot more about football than the average asian dude, I'll need to up my game to a higher level. Playing at the Heisman level requires quite a bit of skill. I'm still trying to time my kickoffs, it's that hard. This guide will help me on choosing my defense (4-3 as opposed to a 3-4) and all that terminology that goes along with it (nickel, dime,...). We tried to go to Olive Garden but it was packed (at 9PM!!!) so we decided to go to either Marie Callendar's or Applebees. Went to Applebees. I had the Bacon Cheeseburger which is my mainstay if they don't have the all-you-can-eat Riblets. Leah and Laura had other stuff but I think I was the most satisfied at the end. Saturday was study and study. IHOP came much later. Leah wanted to go to Macy's to get some Shiseido Skin product so we went. I circled around Union Square like 20 times until she came back out. Then we went to the place where Baker's Square supposedly was in north SF on Lombard. However, it was not even there and when I called, the number was disconnected. We ended up going another block up to the IHOP there. Leah had never been so it was a big hassle as to what we were going to get. I wanted the Avocado Cheeseburger but Leah REALLY WANTED 2 Strawberry Pancakes. I didn't want to get a meal that had only the 4 Strawberry Pancakes so I had to go with the Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity special so that I could get 1 pancake and she could get the other one. The server came over like 2 times (commented that we were like studying the menu) while me and Leah bargained and compromised over our decisions. Pancakes were pretty good, although I thought that they were too sweet even though I only had a little of the strawberry syrup that was on it. Leah like swirled it around until the pancake slice was all red whereupon I made the observation that it looked like a little lung. ewwwww... I've actually had lung at the Dim Sum place in Oakland. It's really not that great. And I'm the guy who can take almost all kinds of innards. ewwwww.... :-D After that we drove home but not without driving down Lombard with that cool curvy street and incredibly steep slopes. fun fun fun. Oh yeah, on Saturday, we lost a football game to the Air Force. It was close most of the game but we really lost it in the second half particularly in the 4th quarter even though we did manage to pull within 2 in the end. Boller's 2 pt conversion attempt didn't happen though. I'm sure the entire campus is disappointed esp Boller since he threw an interception that day plus got into the redzone a dozen times but then had to rely on Jensen to field-goal it in. Before this game, I heard that the Bears were 100% in the redzone something that I had never heard the Bears accomplishing before. Well, this is sobering and hopefully all of their losses will happen out of conference. I'm most interested in the Big Game matchup and I'm thinking that it's still going to be a close contest although this year may be our best chance ever. I'll just have to see how we do in the games prior to see if we have any real chance. We dropped out of the Top 25 this week though as did UCLA. Hopefully we'll get back up in a few weeks. Today, the most interesting part of the day was when we went for munchies at Koryu. Dynamite Roll, 2 Edamames, and this Salmon Head appetizer. GOOD stuff. Although I usually get the Dynamite Appetizer, the Dynamite Roll is pretty good...and more expensive. But it was a good try anyhow (Leah was confused and gave them the wrong order). Afterwards, we went to the super large Safeway near the end of College and got miscellaneous stuff such as cake mix (for Leah's cupcakes), eggs, some shampoo, my mousse (haven't had moouse in years, somehow I wound up using spray or gel, and now I'm going back again to see if Laura's claims of it helping build body are true), and OJ.
Oh yeah, I'm really active on the XBOX boards in IGN so look for me there under Jookwarrior

Hi all. This is Leah updating for Andy. Andy went hiking at Redwood park in Oakland on Sunday. The trail was about six miles long. Andy went with his roommate, and Chris and Jesse. During the hike, Adam ran away from a cow. After the hike, Andy, Adam and I had dinner at Ryowa Ramen House. Adam had the pork cubes noodles which Andy says he wants to try next time he goes. After that Andy and I went to Church. We got back and he played Dead to rights, and I did a ton of homework. He finished the Inuyasha DVD's, and he's thinking about getting the third set. He's also amost done with the Simpson's second season DVD. Then on Monday, Andy cooked at home and had mabo tofu, and I had leftover pizza from Zachary's. Also on Monday night, we went to ABC cafe in Oakland. In Tuesday, he got into a flame war with the nerdies who post on the IGN website. He also wants you to know that he's getting good at Robotech and Rocky for the Xbox at work.
That was Leah's part of the post. She got tired and I'm taking over again. So let's see hiking was pretty fun. I was able to capture a video of Adam running away from a cow. Leah's been getting to go to the Japanese noodle place so often that I'm getting jealous. On Monday night, at ABC cafe I had the usual black pepper flank meat deal but it was Leah's first time at ABC. On Tuesday, I got into this big argument with the nerds about Hilary's review of Quantum Redshift. First time, it's happened to me. Interesting experience as a whole. I got to play Rocky for the Xbox and got good enough to beat Jeremy at it. Even when he had practiced and jumped a game on me, I brought my game and elevated my game to his level again and got him. I also found out on Tuesday that I had been accepted into this second round of Xbox LIVE beta testers and will be getting my pack sometime this week. For dinner, I just had the leftovers from ABC but since I was hungry for more stuff me and Leah went to Koriya Sushi for some late night munchies. I had a Dynamite, Edamame, and an Archer's Roll (unagi, avocado, and spicy tuna). I was surprised that they don't make special rolls cause I asked for the roll that I got in Davis, Avocado + Spicy Salmon. Oooh that was good.
Today not too much happened. I played Colin McRae Rally 3 for the Xbox. Liked it pretty well and made screencaps/movies of it. I asked around the office if we were previewing Dynasty Warriors for the Xbox but noone seems to have anything even though it's supposed to be coming out the 30th of this month. That's my other pick other than my pre-ordered Robotech. Today I had a spaghetti from the lunch truck that pulls up outside of the building every day. Not bad esp for $3.75. I've been drinking a lot of Kiwi Strawberry now since they have it at IGN for a quarter a can. After work, me and Leah went to eat at Lyons where I had a pound of prime rib and she had pot roast. Both are pretty darn good for the price although I think I'll stick with Outback and House of Prime Rib for a cut of that exquisite tenderness. We then went to Pusan for groceries (tons of different types of mushrooms, onions, meat...but for some reason they didn't have Seran Wrap...I also got a really cool stone bowl and a steaming metal basket.) and then to Safeway for other stuff (ant traps, Seran wrap, fruits).
I'm thinking that right now I'm going to start up some Dead to Rights.
Here's a link to that IGN article I wrote Hands-On X-Men: Next Dimension
Hmm...a next to impossible update. September 11 went by with little fanfare. I actually drove across the Bay Bridge twice in that time. I didn't see all those helicopters that the CHP was supposed to have around but I did see a cop in the usual "ready" position next to the bridge. Working with the Xbox guys have been tons of fun. I wrote a preview of the new X-Men game and did screen caps of Dark Angel and Battle Engine Aquila (one of the coolest games that will be coming out next year). Haven't really gone anywhere. I borrowed "Dead to Rights" from work so I'm spending some time with that and so far I'm pretty impressed with it. Hmm, let's see if I can recall what I ate this last week. Tuesday night...Church's Chicken Wednesday night...Rainbow Trout Thursday night...Noodles + Sausage + Tofu/Preserved Egg Friday night...Sushi place next to Kintaro Saturday afternoon...Ryowa Ramen Saturday night...Pizza at Zachery's Chicago Pizza whew...I guess I have good food memory. :-D I forget but on either Wednesday or Thursday, me, Leah, Wai-Lin, Joe, and Michelle went to see a sneak preview of "The Four Feathers", which I though was a pretty good movie but Leah didn't think so. Wai-Lin apparently slept through most of it since she didn't get to see many of the pivotal plot points. All in all, I liked the action but there was too little of it. I guess my Friday was more exciting than the other nights since we went into SF for food and drinks. After sushi at the place next to Kintaro, where they had $1.50 Edamame beans (pretty good prices), we went to the W hotel and had drinks at the XYZ bar. I had a Cosmo as did Wai-Lin. Took quite a few pictures which probably annoyed the 30+ crowd. Joe had a "Sex on the Beach" which he drank too quickly consequently he felt sick. After we left, we went to Cafe Mason, my new late night fave thanks to my friend Simon. Had me a steak and eggs while everyone else had toast or dessert. The plates and glasses are the coolest. Zachery's was all about waiting. We waited so long for our deep dish pizza...luckily I went outside and picked up a copy fo the East Bay Express which reviewed Ryowa Romen. Those food critics sure kow how to make food sound good. Although in the case of Ryowa Ramen, it really isn't that hard to due its succulently prepared roast pork slices in an exquisitly prepared ryowa sauce reminiscent of the Kobe region. hehehe. Sure made me hungry though. The only thing bad about Ryowa Ramen has to be the language barrier, both the reviewer and Leah have had problems with the mix-up between soy sauce ramen and soy bean ramen. Next we'll have to point or enunciate.

September 11 is coming up. I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I still vividly remember what happened that day. Well I'm actually pretty sick now. Just coughs at this point so it isn't too bad. On Saturday, me and Leah went on a trip to Davis to her friend Carl's party. Hung around and played hearts, a little MvC2, and drank a couple Smirnoffs. On Sunday, we hung out with her friend Elissa and went bowling at UC Davis. The prices there are outrageously low due to the subsidizing by the UC. 3 people/3 games/3 shoes cost only $13 total. I went to dinner with my aunt and uncle and my little cousin Raymond at Todai yesterday. He's so cute and well behaved. A little kid in the table next to us started crying and Raymond just looked at her as if to say,"Tsk Tsk...you are so misbehaved." He has almost a full head of hair now. I talked to my uncle about online photo services and he said that in his opinion Ofoto was the best although he hadn't tried Sony's imagestation yet. I have quite a few pics on that service already though so I'm probably going to try them out.
Bad me...haven't updated in such a long time. Not too much has happened. I got the intership at IGN so I've been spending afternoons there playing upcoming games and generally be awed by the amount of games at IGN. Went to Olive Garden with Adam, Masa, Chris, and Leah for the all you can eat pasta on Wednesday. Bought groceries at the Korean market before that. Last night was pretty cool cause it was the Coldplay concert. I snuck my digital camera in and got tons of cool pictures and movies around 300MB worth. So glad to have the Microdrive. At this point I'm just limited by the camera's battery life. Last night's concert was really cool. Me and Leah sat on the lawn and Jasmine and Chris went up close. A Northern Ireland band called Ash opened for them and Coldplay played after. Good songs. Hewitt is playing Agassi right now in the US Open. Great game, very cool shots back to back.

Not much happened last night. I forgot to add that Chris came over to Leah's place to play some Xbox. After being frustrated by Timesplitters 2, me and Chris played NCAA Football 2003 Cal vs Cal. I got him 28 - 7 but it was pretty close actually. My practice on my rushing game paid off. It seems Cal's passing game also has improved since Cal beat Baylor this Saturday something like 70 to 21. I think when Chris actually gets an Xbox, our games will be much more intense. Last night, we went to Ryowa Ramen again. Love that kimchee!!! After that, we hung out at my apartment trying to decide what to do until we went to Blockbuster and rented some movies. Roxanne (the Cyrano de Bergerac spoof) and Chronicles of Narnia (Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader). We watched Roxanne last night and Prince Caspian this morning. Liked Roxanne. Today, me, Adam, and Leah went out into SF. For lunch we had the Wolfgang Puck chicken again after Adam got his watch fixed. I drove to the Embarcadero looking for the Tall Ships Festival but there were only a few ships and it was too crowded for parking anyhow so we went to SFMOMA. Yoko Ono's exhibit was on display where we got to see some pretty disturbing stuff, namely the "Fly" and the "Buttocks" videos. Another exhibit I saw that was pretty cool was this room that just had images of hands flying across a sky background projected on them. I bought the "Baraka" dvd at Virgin ($14.99) that I've been hankering after ever since I saw the preview at the "Metropolis" showing. Great stuff, good time lapse video and just great visuals in all. Highly recommended dvd. Went shopping for a little bit after I got the dvd. Leah didn't get anything but Adam got stuff at Old Navy. Once again, I resisted the temptation to buy more Xbox games. Tonight I made Neoguri but with green onions, sliced Korean beef, and mushrooms.
Just finished working on the php code and database setup to do the scratchboard on the sidebar. I still need to figure out how to best integrate it into this main page though. I think all it will do is call my posting script and refresh the main page. Yesterday Chris came over because it was Jasmine's birthday on Tuesday and we wanted to do something with her. Jasmine's mom's friend Yoko had a photo exhibit at the Takara Sake Museum which we went to. There were a lot of really pretty prints of animals. Here's the website of the exhibit http://www.geocities.com/compassay/ . I bought a print of the mule deer that looked really cool. Everyone got a print that they liked. Actually before hand me, Chris, and Leah went and got food at McDonald's and Church's and then went to Best Buy. I really wanted to get the "Dead to Rights" and "Agressive Inline" XBOX games. sniff sniff but that was not to be. We had lunch at the Japanese Ramen place (excellent stuff) which reminds me that I need to update that food list. I have a short list of places that aren't in there that I've gone to in the meantime. That will be on my list to do today. Went to see the black and white sci-fi classic "Metropolis" last night at the Shattuck Cinemas. Pretty good stuff, I expected it to be much more grainy seeing as how it was filmed in the 20s. It was clearer than stuff I've seen made in the 70s!!! The story was very dramatic and the actress who played Maria/Fake Maria was really amusing to watch. Scary stuff...when we came out Leah tried to impersonate Fake Maria with hilarious results (picture eyes darting back and forth and grotesque arm/leg/head movements). All I had for dinner was Clam Chowder in a Can and a bag of my favorite ramen, Neoguri Ramen. I've started work also on the pictures site. It's going to be really really simple for now. Much better to get it up than to get it exactly the way I wanted it to be.
