Pictures of the Day
These are pics of a model being used in the upcoming Xbox game, Big Mutha
Truckers.
That is one nasty nasty Mutha. But she doesn't hold a candle to the likes
of your Mutha. ahahahahaa
These are screens from the upcoming SimCity 4 for the PC. I've been a fan from the very first Sim City for my old 486. Got a little discouraged with Sim City 2000 due to the complexity and having a crappy computer didn't help much either. Really liked The Sims (stopped after maxing my family's stats out). This upcoming game though has the coolest visuals I've ever seen in a Sim game. Look for yourself.
On Monday, in an effort to cut back on costs and spending, me and Leah went to 99 Ranch to get groceries. Must have been one of the few times where I left that plaza without eating anything and a famished stomach. Gorged myself that night though. Leah made vermicelli with beef strips and I made egg omelot with basil, onions, and chinese sausage. I then ate some chili bamboo (my favorite vegetable over rice). Totally pigged out that night. Leah used water instead of soup base so I put in some Chinese BBQ sauce to spice it up a bit or as Emeril likes to say "Kick it up a notch".
On Tuesday, Leah made Gourd with beef strips and I mixed it up with chili bamboo. I'm almost done with my jar and I think I'm gonna need more for myself. Leah made me not eat any eggs since the omelot that I made on Monday had 6 eggs. hehehe. I found some LIVE broadband streams of tv channels in Taiwan so I've been watching some soaps and programs that always get delayed broadcasting over here in SF. Bad thing about it is all the cool commercials for places to eat and things to eat that I'd have to hop on a plane to get. Well, I did some checking and found that I could fly to Taiwan this month for $600 and get a stopover in Japan as well. Hmm mmm. I'd love to eat at a night market again. For lunch, went to Great China. I had "Shredded Pork with Spicy Sauce" while LiLi had "Prawns with Broccoli". "Shredded Pork" is really really good. I think it ranks as high if not higher than "Garlic Chicken". I found out what the difference between shrimp and prawns are. Prawns according to Dictionary.com are "Any of various edible crustaceans similar to but larger than the shrimps". That means that I should be getting lobster with my "Prawns with Broccoli". :-P
On Wednesday, went to Roticerre for their 4-6PM whole chicken special. Hung around Barnes and Noble for a bit. I went to the Pacific Laser Eye Center on the UC Berkeley campus for my LASIK evaluation. I've been thinking about laser surgery and I've going through the process of seeing if I'm a good candidate. On Wednesday, they dilated my eyes so I spent the day basically shielding my eyes and stumbling around. I still don't have regular pupils even now but it's much better than before. Adam came over and we went walking all around Berkeley while having our Slurpies that we picked up at 7-11. So we went from Leah's place up to Telegraph. We stopped by the Bum Cafe to see if Honda was there (he was) and then proceeded down Telegraph to 7-11. After that, we walked onto campus. Walked to the Freedom Cafe and looked at the people studying there. Walked down to Shattuck from there and walked up north all the way to Safeway. Turned around and walked down Shattuck to the Honda dealership. Then walked back to Leah's place. Wai-Lin and Michelle were baking stuff (cookies and brownies) so the whole place smelled of baking. The cookies weren't bad. Can't speak about the brownies though cause I didn't have one.
Today, I had my second part of the evaluation. Today was the video presentation and then the orb scan to measure eye topography. Couldn't keep my eyes open long enough for the left eye. They have these yellow circles continously flashing at your eye and its all bright and stuff. They had to have a doctor help keep my eye open so that the computer could complete the scan. Based on the preliminary scan, the thickness of my cornea is about 20 microns too thin. Really small difference but when you're talking about the cornea... The alternative is PRK but I'm not really certain about it given what I know. The doctor said that the chromatic aberrations (heh...I did learn stuff from EE118) chances are similar to Lasik. I'm uncertain though. Next week I'm going in again to get better measurements.
Today is Halloween and a bunch of us are thinking about going into the Castro District to see what's up. I've never been and people that have usually have some positive and interesting things to say about it.
BAM!!!
Reading yesterday's post, it seemed that I was being pretty ambivalent about my grandpa passing away. The truth of it was that I didn't really get to know the guy as well as many people get to know their grandparents. Since I came over from Taiwan at an early age, the only times I got to spend some time with him were during summer vacations. The longest time I ever spent there was I think for a month with my dad. I remember how I had lied to my dad about completing some math exercises (when I had just stuffed them in a drawer...stupid stupid) and how just when my dad was about to put a little sense into me (you can figure it out yourself)...my grandpa made my dad not go through with it. But that was maybe 15 years ago and with my grandma gone, my grandpa had grown weaker (physically but not mentally). The last time I saw my grandpa was maybe 5 years ago, when we went down for another summer. I remember us trying to sneak out every once in a while just to get some food and some freedom. :-P My grandpa always seemed like a gentle and proud man, someone who commanded respect without having to utter a word. His personality was one of quiet dignity and my dad always said that it pained gramps to have to have his sons help bath him. In many ways, I wish a book would be written about him so that I could have known more about him besides the few bits of information here and there that I've heard over the years. He reminds me of my grandma as well, who also carried herself extraordinarily well. All the old videos that I've seen show her as an astute woman.
Thinking about my grandpa on my dad's side makes me think about my grandpa on my mother's side. I spent a lot more time with him because he was a big part on getting us to the United States way back in the early 80's. I spent many weekends with him going to Garage Sales and Swap Meets. In many ways, I miss that kind of interaction. He was a very creative man, one who could and did almost anything and everything with a Super Glue Gun. That last Thanksgiving we had together was pretty torturous for him, having to watch us eat while all he could have were stuff that diabetes patients could only have. His suffering due to the smoking only increased the pain brought on by diabetes. One of the worst times were when my sister (she was like 4 or 5 at the time I think) drew away from him probably because he had a tube stuck in his throat. I think it's watching all this stuff happen that made me be an avid non-smoker. I often wonder what it would have been like if this grandpa hadn't passed away so soon. Would he have enjoyed playing games with me? Maybe some Trivial Pursuit. I know that he was a big reader; He had the Encyclopedia Britannica when I had the World Book. So many questions that will never be answered.
My grandpa (on my dad's side) passed away on Friday. I'm not sure exactly what age he was but he was into his 90s. My parents flew back yesterday to pay their respects. He had a pretty full life. Though his life was pretty much a rags to riches story, he gave a lot back to the community including the building of new schools.
So on Friday, I went with Wai-Lin, Joe, Christine, and Leah to Pasta Pomodoro on College. Got my favorite Frutti de Mare pasta. Yumm... Afterwards we went to the Sigma Alpha Omega Halloween party. Hung out there for a bit. Then we went back to my place to watch "Heathers" that we had rented on DVD from Blockbuster. One of the most twisted dark comedies I've seen in a while. It stars Christian Slater, Winona Ryder, and Shannon Doherty.
Yesterday, I went with Chris and Adam to the FlugTag (Fly Day) event in San Francisco. Pretty crazy stuff with people pushing all sorts of contraptions over the edge of a "ship". Almost of the them just fell over into the water. The smart ones just had people jumping off and getting more distance than the fancy contraptions. Later on in the day, I went with Leah and her friend to IKEA. I left without getting anything and I think the combined total of the other two's purchases must have been like $10. I felt that we had beaten the IKEA mentality of getting 50 cheap things and ending up paying $200.
Today, we went to Church's and went to Linens-N-Things. They had the OXO Small Detergent Dispenser Scrubber that I like so much but I'll be waiting a bit for it and maybe find a better deal elsewhere. They were selling it for $5. Better than the other one which required you to push hard just to get some detergent out. I wish I could like win the entire OXO line cause their stuff is just so cool yet so darn expensive. Just for the rubber handles.

Went to San Mateo yesterday for dinner with Jasmine and Leah. We went to this Thai place called Thai Satay which had pretty good food. Went for the Coconut Lime soup, Sweet Beef (actually spicy), Yellow Curry Chicken. After that, we got some orchids for Leah's place.
I'm halfway done reading Malcolm X. Pretty interesting stuff. I really like the descriptions of Harlem life. One bad thing I found about the Danger HipTop plan that T-Mobile is offering is that the unlimited data is only for the first year. After that it's 15MB a month. I don't know if this is a good thing.
Crazy Pictures of the Day
2. There's something scary about this picture with Bush and Jiang. I can't quite place what it is. I'm sure Bush doesn't feel all that comfortable either.

Surgeons Deliver 46-Year-Old Fetus Thu Oct 24,10:26 AM ET
RABAT (Reuters) - Moroccan surgeons have relieved a 75-year-old woman of what she thought was a long-standing tumor but turned out to be the remains of a 46-year-old fetus, Moroccan newspapers said Thursday.
The woman had complained of abdominal pains, so she underwent surgery in July by a team led by Professor Taibi Ouazzani in Rabat's Avicennes hospital, the newspapers Al Ahdath al-Maghribia and L'Opinion said.
How the team determined how long the woman had carried the fetus was not disclosed, and officials at Avicennes were not immediately available for comment.
Ouazzani's team plans to show a video about the surgery at a news conference Friday.
Went to IHOP for dinner yesterday. Got another Avocado Bacon Burger. Good stuff. After that we watched the Ring. I watched the japanese version years ago and I recently got Adam in on it. All I have to say is that the American version is much more graphic and scary. I've been paying a lot of attention to the T-Movile Sidekick and it's really REALLY appealing. Unlimited data, surfing web and everything. I think I'd have to testdrive it and see if it's really easy to browse with. If it's difficult then I'd only be using it as a mail device and then it wouldn't be worth it. What would be cool is if you could attach it to a laptop and use the laptop as a terminal for the services. It even allows you to use AIM. How cool is that? What would really clinch it for me is if the voice is tolerable and the plan isn't bad.

A few years ago, I was Sony's representative for College Jeopardy at UC Berkeley. Got a couple huge boxes of free stuff like t-shirts, yoyos, pens, sticky pads, footballs. I even got a portable handheld tv for my efforts. Well, anyways, on Monday, Leah reintroduced me to Sony Station and I'm really impressed with the makeover. College Jeopardy still doesn't have school rankings but the program is really looking good. Played a little Jeopardy where I trounced my 2 opponents and then lost incredibly badly in Wheel of Fortune. Wheel of Fortune has got to be one of the worst parts of Sony Station. Always I'm getting a Lose a Turn or a Bankrupt. Lame. Leah has been able to win the game though.
Yesterday, we went to Jasmine's place for dinner. I brought over Baraka, the Simpsons DVDs, and pics from Coldplay. Although we were supposed to eat out and watch a movie, we ended up eating dinner at Jasmine's place (Jasmine had marinated this really good chicken that she had cut up) and watched Gilmore Girls, Smallville and some other stuff that was on (incl. Rock Behind Bars). We saw a bit of Flashdance as well which has just been recently released on DVD. On MSNBC, I saw this bit about tailgate parties and the gadgets that people are bringing along with them and I was pretty amazed with the stuff. Like huge batteries, solar arrays, travel bbqs, and a lawnmower-turned-blender. All at American Tailgater. For a couple days now, I've been going to the HK place and getting the shrimp with scrambled eggs although today I went for pho in the Bear's Lair.
Here's a small list of some places I've been frequenting for cool stuff.

Study Records Elevated Mercury Sun Oct 20, 6:35 PM ET By SHARON L. CRENSON, AP National Writer
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A study of Californians who loaded their lunch and dinner menus with fish shows 89 percent wound up with elevated mercury levels in their bodies. The research, presented Saturday by San Francisco internist Dr. Jane Hightower at a symposium of environmental health experts in Vermont, is one of the first studies to document mercury levels in Americans who eat more fish than the Environmental Protection Agency (news - web sites) recommends. Doctors are increasingly interested in the possible risks of eating too much mercury-tainted fish, and the Environmental Protection Agency and the Food and Drug Administration (news - web sites) are trying to better inform the public about the subject. It is a thorny problem because of the widely recognized benefits of fish, a high quality protein source loaded with heart-protecting Omega 3 fatty acids. Conference participants didn't seem panicked about the findings: The majority ordered salmon for dinner Saturday "We are not talking about whether or not to eat fish," said the EPA's Kathryn Mahaffey, one of the conference organizers. Hightower screened 720 patients from March 2000 to March 2001, then tested the mercury levels of patients who reported eating more than two servings of fish a week. That's the maximum the EPA recommends for pregnant women and small children. The tests showed that of 116 patients who had their blood tested, 89 percent showed mercury levels greater than the 5 parts per million recognized as safe by the National Academy of Sciences (news - web sites). Of that group, 63 people had blood mercury levels more than twice the recommended level and 19 showed blood mercury levels four times the level considered safe. Four people had mercury levels 10 times as high as the government recommends. The peer-reviewed study is slated for publication Nov. 1 in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives. The study monitored 67 patients as they reduced their fish intake and subsequently their bodies' mercury levels. Within 41 weeks, all but two had reduced their blood mercury levels to below government-recommended thresholds, according to Hightower. The study did not address physical symptoms such as fatigue or memory loss associated with mercury poisoning. Some patients did report such problems, but Hightower's study did not seek to correlate symptoms with mercury levels. Still, Alan Stern, a New Jersey public health official at the conference, said any mercury study focusing on people who eat a lot of fish is a sort of "holy grail" for the field. Too much mercury damages the nervous system, especially in children and fetuses, but scientists are not certain how much mercury-tainted fish is needed to trigger health problems. The FDA currently recommends that pregnant women and young children limit their fish intake to two 6-ounce cans of tuna per week if it's the only fish they eat, and to one can per week if they also eat other fish. The agency says they should not eat any swordfish, shark, king mackerel or tilefish. About 78 percent of patients with high mercury levels reported eating canned tuna more than three times a month; 74 percent ate salmon more than four times a month; and 72 percent said they had swordfish more than once a month. Other fish commonly eaten by the patients included halibut, ahi, sea bass and sushi. Hightower recommended that doctors concerned about patients' mercury exposure take dietary histories including fish consumption to help identify people at risk of accumulating too much mercury. She also recommended that state and federal government agencies make the results of mercury testing in fish available wherever fish are sold, along with the details of consumption advisories. Mercury is a naturally occurring element that makes its way into the environment when oil- and coal-fired power plants burn those fossil fuels. Rain washes it into waterways, where it settles and is eaten by microorganisms, which are eaten by fish. The Vermont conference was organized by the American Fisheries Society and the EPA.
Man Dies After Fish Sauce Rescue Tue Oct 22, 9:39 AM ET
HANOI (Reuters) - A Vietnamese man died and three of his co-workers nearly suffered the same fate after trying to rescue a colleague who fell into vat of fish sauce. The state-run Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper said the accident happened Monday in southern beachside Phan Thiet town when a man at a fish sauce factory fell into a 2.2 meter (7.2 foot) sauce tank. Four other workers, including the man's wife, who came to his aid also fell in, and all lost consciousness after inhaling the gas from the fish being fermented to make the sauce, the article said. A doctor at the emergency unit at Binh Thuan provincial hospital told Reuters Tuesday one of the rescuers, a 34-year-old man, died after being taken to the hospital. The cause of death has not been established, he said. "The fish sauce tank is very tall and the victims had been lying in the sauce for a while before being rushed here," said the doctor who declined to be identified. "When they came, the man (who died) was already in critical condition." Phan Thiet, the capital town of Binh Thuan, lies 190 km (118 miles) northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. Besides being a center for fish sauce manufacturing, it is known for beachside resorts. Fish sauce is ferociously pungent and commonly used in southeast Asia to spice up dishes.

Powerful attack cripples majority of key Internet computers
(AP) - An unusually powerful electronic attack briefly crippled nine of the 13 computer servers that manage global Internet traffic this week, officials disclosed Tuesday. But most Internet users didn't notice because the attack only lasted one hour. The FBI and White House were investigating. One official described the attack Monday as the most sophisticated and large-scale assault against these crucial computers in the history of the Internet. The origin of the attack was not known. Seven of the 13 servers failed to respond to legitimate network traffic and two others failed intermittently during the attack, officials confirmed
Just remembered that Leah requested to have her better pics of hers put...she hates the banner up there. Haha...maybe she'll be happier with these.
The first one is at the W Hotel where I fear I had a little more to drink than most asian males could handle (ie. a small amount). The second was taken when we recuperated at Cafe Mason.
On Friday, it was Henry's last day at Cal Performances so we had a farewell beer thing at the Bear's Lair. A lot of the higher-ups were there. He will be missed at Calperfs especially by me since my work will be increased due to his absence. Had half a tall of beer and I must admit, beer still smells better than it tastes. Had some pizza also to go along with the beer and it just tasted awful along with it.
Hmm hmm...Saturday I got my wireless internet working on my cellphone and also on my laptop. It allows me to access WAP stuff on both. Pretty good for checking up on NCAA Football scores. Congrats to the Cal team for beating UCLA. I'm thinking that CAL is heading to a 5-3 record this year. I really enjoyed listening to the radio broadcast of the last 10 min. Boller's rundown of the clock play was great! Throwing it back to a buy at the goal line WAYYY behind the line of scrimmage and having him sit there was a really good call given our ability to give turnovers late in the game (previous years at least). Our chances at beating Stanford are getting higher and higher. Who knows, maybe we'll get a 3rd place finish in the PAC-10. Our schedule draw this year was really nice not having to play Oregon this year.
Went to Great China twice since the last update. Had some steamed fish since I havent had fish in weeks. Good pea sprouts. Tried Ginger Chicken instead of Garlic Chicken. It's ok but not as good in my opinion. The Napa Cabbage with Dried Shrimp has got to be one of my favorite vegetable dishes ever.
On Sunday, I decided to host a picnic of sorts at the Berkeley Aquatic Park. Early morning pretty much consisted of me running around getting supplies. Went over the Pak-N-Save for the goods which Adam, Chris, and Li-Chern? helped pick out. When we got there, I got worried cause I didn't see any tables with bbq even though the website said it did. Actually there are only 2 tables that have it and 1 was occupied. The group there had actually rented both or reserved both but they were nice enough to let us use it. Had to drive out a couple of times to get Leah and Wai-Lin. If Chris's brother Eric hadn't come along, I doubt we would have eaten anything since everyone else seemed too lazy to help out in any meaningful way. We had chicken drumsticks and burgers. Simon and a friend came along later to help eat. Wai-Lin had to leave to see the Jack Johnson concert which Joe missed because he missed his flight from LA to Oakland.
Nothing really happened yesterday. I re-cooked some Great China leftovers and Leah made some Eggs with Tomatoes. Hopefully today, we'll do something with Chris and/or Jasmine.
I've noticed on the scratchboard that quite a few of the last comments have had to do with posting pictures of my new hair. I have a feeling I know who it is although it may be different people. Gonna have to check the visitor ip logs. heh heh. so here's one that I took a couple days ago.
Went to Carl's Jr last night cause I got the munchies after the party. I don't think I'm ever going to tire of Double Westerns. For dinner tonight, went to Kirin's, this restaurant on Solano that serves some pretty good Chinese. Didn't go with the Sichuan Seafood Noodle and instead got the Vegetarian Mabo Tofu along with the Shao Long Bao. Yumm... Also got some cinqo dinero jasmine tea which bloated my bladder to the size of a grapefruit. haha :-) I'm thinking about going to Great Wall for some steamed fish some time. Got some groceries at Safeway before that. Watched the end of "The Bachelor". Dang that stuff is emotional seeing all those woman fall over themselves over this guy. I mentioned how Christina Aguilera's latest music video really is over the top in terms of sexuality to Leah and she said that she heard the same thing on Telegraph today. It makes Britney Spear's attempts look tame. Just watched "Transporter" with Adam and Honda. Action packed but I guessed tons of twists beforehand. Still an enjoyable movie with all the guns, and the cars, and the rockets, and the bangs. I'd rather the girl spoke Chinese the entire time rather than her Chin-glish. In addition to my address book/calendar function, I've been thinking about a content management system for this site. I'd really like to automate the process more.
In reviewing our football schedule, I'm hoping that we'll win from here on out since we've pretty much gone through all of our ranked opponents. We really should beat Stanford this year around.
Ehhh...I forgot to mention that I went to the Bob Dylan concert last Friday. Pretty good music but I don't think I've ever heard a more incoherent singer than Bob. A lot of the times, I'd try singing along to Leah's great amusement and probably embarrassment as well. Yesterday, we had Dim SUm in Oakland and then J-Town for supplies. Apparently the port holdup has caused a backlog in Japanese imports (like newspapaers/magazines/manga). Every part of the economy is being affected in some way or another. I got the "God of Cookery" dvd at Oakland. Last night, I had Cajun food at Jackson's friend Sara's place in Fremont. Cajun food was basically jambalaya but also alligator. Chris, Adam, Jesse, Nate, Jackson, and Leah was there. Me and Chris tried to compare the alligator to something and came up with chicken and fish. We had a little accident with some soda pop but other than that it was a pretty enjoyable time. Even when Chris hurt his hand when we were doing his gynastic demonstration. Nate really spiced up the last few alligator pieces. So much so that I was using the jambalaya to bland the spiciness down.
Hmm hmm... we're lookin at thursday night, friday night, saturday night, sunday night, monday night here. Darn, I need to get my butt off the ground and update quicker cause my memory is getting low and the pagefile ain't what it used to be. hehe
Well most of these days I didn't go do much. Saturday, me and Leah had Baker's Square Strawberry Pie. Yumm...Adam watched the Japanese version of "The Ring" with us which I saw about a year ago but forgot most of the fine details. Got interested in it again after watching some trailers for the new Dreamworks American version. Went to IHOP for breakfast on Saturday I think. Service was kinda slow but for the price and all, it's pretty great. I got an Avocado Bacon Burger. Yumm...
On Sunday, Nancy had a "Coming Back" kind of party at her new place in Emeryville. She's living in the funky colored place near CompUSA now. I didn't stay long cause I had some stuff to do.
Yesterday, me, Wai-Lin, Adam and Honda went to hot pot for some dinner (10:30PM). I was incredibly hungry since I didn't have lunch. The place was empty the entire time we were there. I still had a good time even with the uteruses. aargh...
Bone Thugs N Harmony released some new shiz recently and I must say that those flowin rhymes are still as sweet as ever. Darn, they're kinda disappointing live but their studio tracks are well produced. I may just buy the CDs. Some stuff that's good are Can't Give It Up, Change the World, Resurrection (Paper Paper), Down to Earth, Thug Music Play On, Up Against The Wall, Thug By Nature, Make My Day, and very very recently Get Up, Get it.
On the Xbox front, I did manage to get the third weapon for my guy but no luck on the 4th weapon. That's about it though.
I thought I might rant a little here. You know what I hate the most? People that copy most anything you do. Seriously, it really irks me
how people do that. Instead of doing their own thing, they take other people's thing and try to make it their own. Damn, that pisses me
off. esp when credit isn't given DAMN DAMN DAMN. Those people can seriously go to whatever purgatory
they're supposed to go to cause there's got to be something for that. Frauds are supposed to go to the 8th ring of Hell, so they're
pretty damned. AARGH. It's so damn annoying. I've mentioned it to Leah about situations where this has happened and she thinks its funny
but its because she sees that it's true. And its not her too, I've talked to other people before. I'd really just rather people did
their thing, find out their
own crap, learned their own crap, and not spout off stuff I've said to them as something that they can now tell other people and
pass it off as knowledge they "learned".
No one has started staring at me yet (as far as I know) so the hair isn't scaring anyone. Then again, I'm in Berkeley so I'd have to do something really outrageous. Today there was a Schooltime performance at Zellerbach Hall. It was nice to see all the kids go up on stage at the end to dance with the performers. All those races dancing to the beat together, signing and clapping. Made me feel that there really was hope for the future. I walked around without my hat on today so Mark saw me with my hair. Called me Orange when I left...aargh :-)
Even the Departmental Deposits woman didn't recognize me when I went for the tape backups. Hmm, what happened yesterday...after dinner at Texas Roadhouse, came back...not much else besides Leah getting some food at the Hong Kong Restaurant. She got some Hot and Sour soup which to me was surprising spicy even for me. Today, me and Adam had some Church's Chicken.
I turned off the messages that I get to my cell phone because Cingular has started to charge me for them. Instead of just charging me for offpeak minutes, they moved it into the data category. darn Cingular...I'm almost thinking about changing to AT&T.
So I guess we're going to war. Here's hoping that it won't be drawn out and that our soldiers get home safe. What's this with this sniper shooting people all over the D.C. area? Geez!!!
As I deleted stuff from my cell...more stuff came in. Here we go...

The first man on the moon was Neil Armstrong. The last man on the moon was Eugene Cernan.
omigosh...its been a long time since the last update. Hmm the 3rd was last Thursday and its Wednesday now...but then again not too much exciting has happened (except last night). I think I got ramen a couple times during the intervening period. Made some tofu curry rice. But quite a bit of the time was spent programming some php/mysql applications. So tired of programming during the weekend I actually got a couple headaches during this period. There's something to be said about staring at a screen for too long. Although, the satisfaction of completing something or making something work is also pretty darn cool. Last night, got really tired of work/study so went to Hot Pot with Adam and Leah. I think I've skipped eating lunch for like 4 days in a row now. Not sure what I'm eating tonight since Adam is out and Leah is at some study group. Couple days ago, me and Leah spend like 3 hrs at a coffee shop studying. Adam came later from Fremont and he hung out with us for a bit. After Hot Pot last night, I decided that I needed a breather from reading so we went to Walgreens. Me and Adam had heard/seen tanning lotions and wanted to try them out. Being a little tired/crazy, we both got hair dye kits. Consequently, I'm now a orange-head. Pictures may be taken at some point but I'm still a little wary of the entire situation. I spent most of today wearing a hat or a beanie. I really didn't think that kit was going to be very powerful but I was pretty wrong. I was really expecting a brown or something...aargh...last week I was able to test out the new Unreal Tournament and I was really impressed with the engine. I can imagine tons of games using it in the future as opposed to the Doom III engine. Although, I've yet to play any demo to make any judgements. I think it'll really come down to how easy it will be to program with it. Haven't touched the Xbox in a while now...I think it's getting angry at being ignored all the time esp since it's LIVE enabled and all. aargh.

Yesterday, I bummed around and programmed. Didn't have lunch though so later on me and Adam went to IHOP. Actually, we got waylaid and stopped by the new Best But in Emeryville first. I got the Tbone/Catfish special. Catfish was definitely interesting to say the least.
Today, I made some O'Tasty buns for lunch. For dinner, me and Leah went to the Ryowa Ramen. I got the ramen that Adam got last time (Side Pork Noodles). I think it was too salty for my taste and that I'll probably just stick to the Ryowa Ramen in the future. I still have some O'Tasty buns that I can still make. Yum...
I find that if I don't write down updates often I tend to just forget them when I do update. Some interesting stuff probably gets left out and that kinda bugs me.
Today me and Leah got into a discussion about the death penalty, war, and Malcolm X. We're on opposing sides (I'm more for the death penalty than against it) so it made for some interesting conversation. In the end, I agreed that we could end the death penalty but only if we made prison a less than enjoyable experience. I read that in prisons (certain prisons at least) Grade A beef is fed to prisoners while Grade C beef is fed to our kids in the schools. That's just wrong. We should make sure that prison isn't some place to hang out/watch cable/work out. Nothing too sadistic but there are still tons of things we can do to make sure that gang members don't think of jail as just a kind of initiation ritual or something. Poor food -> unhappy inmates -> cheaper for taxpayers. There's something about making sure that we don't treat prisoners inhumanely (per the Geneva Convention or something) but I think that it only applies for prisoners from other countries. The outcome of the Malcolm X dispute was that I should probably read the autobiography of Malcolm X just to see how life changing it can possibly be to me, a 20-something Asian male. Maybe I'm going to be a street hustler working out of West Berkeley.
Calperfs had a staff lunch yesterday so I ate a couple Top Dogs. Good stuff. The Lemon Chicken was a first for me and it was alright. I'll still continue on getting regular ol' Kielbasas or Top Dogs though.
More of Dynasty Warriors 3 yesterday. Finally got the True Musuo Powerup that I've been hungering for ever so long. Next I want the 4th Weapon for my guy.
Had some more Taiwanese/Japanese noodles last night. And oh yeah, my shoulder has stopped hurting as much. Back to practicing disc golf? hehe Need to get me some of my own discs...
Hmm hmm...yesterday nothing much happened. Played some football over Xbox Live. Raiders vs Colts. The Black and White won by 6. :D Some trash talking. It was kinda weird talking to someone while playing a console game. At first we both were kinda quiet but then got more into it as the game progressed. Went to Target afterwards to look at steam vacuums. They didn't have the one Leah's been eyeing for some time now. I got 2 jumbo size bags for $5 and Leah got drinks for $2. Since I hadn't eaten lunch, we went to 99 Ranch. Leah wasn't really hungry so I went to eat at the cafeteria. Got some fried chicken and spicy bamboo shoots with fried rice. Leah bought a bowl and some other stuff while I got some box noodles (Taiwanese brand but Kyushu-style Spicy Ramen) and a jar of that spicy bamboo shoot stuff. Della came over to pick up that tape that I made of Nancy and Della's apartment when they moved out. Later, I got a little hungry so I made some box noodles. Pretty good stuff. Spicy in a good way. I'm going to have to get some of those pork slices that the Japanese Ramen place has. Damn that stuff is good.
Oh yeah, my sister got a Turbo Color Concept Green Beetle. sniff sniff, how come she got a new car and I didn't? oh well, I can totally see her driving with the sunroof open, stereo blasting away...aargh...life is so unfair.
At least I think I can still smoke her on the freeway. What with her 150hp compared to my 200hp.
