down from a ceiling drips great noise it drips on my head through a hole in the roof behind these two hills here there's a pool inside the cabin I make sounds and the through the tubes I send this noise behind these two hills here, fall asleep and when I'm floating green grass of tunnel it flows back. ...and when I'm swimming in through a tunnel I shut my eyes.
Yesterday, I got pied by one of my kids. Fun stuff. I must have dunked water over a ton of them.
Haven't updated the site in a while. Pretty much every day I've been teaching. I'm getting to like teaching Game Creation more and more. We're using Fusion which can be used to create some pretty cool games. A lot easier than Flash and still pretty flexible. On Fridays, we have Water Activities which last week got me entirely drenched. Which was a good thing cause it's getting into the 90s in San Rafael. It makes "Cats and Yaks", a variant on Ultimate Frisbee that uses a rubber ball, very hard to play. Consequently, I'm getting a tan though. The field that we use is sometimes taken over by German/Austrian sunbathers. Last week, some took off articles of clothing and proceeded to get a tan on the field. The Euros started to oil each other. Nothing like camp to teach kids Euro culture. One time at tech camp...
Man, that's really depressing about how that old man ran down and killed/maimed all those people. Today they announced that the police found that at the guy's house there was evidence that he had run into the back of the garage a couple of times before. I'm thinking that at the least he's going to be doing a lot of community service or be called up on involuntary manslaughter charges. Especially depressing that a 2-year old lost her life. Amy says that her girlfriend in LA missed being at that Farmer's Market because her son was sick. That's fate for ya. Supposedly after the car stopped, a crowd gathered to beat the guy up but some guy stopped them. That same guy was also the one who pulled the guy out of the car. He asked him if he knew what he had done and the old guy said "No." I understand the concept of shock but the duration of the entire incident suggests that it was much more than that. He probably could have attributed shock to the first couple people he hit but this was too much in my opinion. How did you get in that direction anyways. Did he turn onto the street and not notice all the people? Was he going straight and didn't see the stands? In any case, there should have been barriers to prevent traffic from entering the market. Berkeley does that for any street event.
So the occupation of Iraq continues. There hasn't been a day where I don't hear about yet another guerrila attack or American casualty on NPR. I listen to NPR quite a bit now. Some of the speakers are a bit cooky but still at times it's better than Alice or KMEL in the morning. You can only take so much low brow humor.
I'm such a gadget ho. Sony is releasing a new clie form factor which is exceedingly sweet. I have pics which I'll put up sometime. The CF device driver for the Clie's is also out. Hmm, Clie goodness combined with the Microdrive. Yumm. Uurgh. I'm also debating the Powerbook purchase timeline. I don't know how much longer I can wait. Saw a few 27" Wegas for around $350-$400. Some guy was selling a 32" Trinitron for $100 that you had to bang every once in a while to get working. hahaha
I'm also a furniture ho. I'd like to get a couch and bed from Ikea. Getting a little tired of sleeping on a futon. Saw a king size Ikea mattress with frame for $150. mmm.... Then a couple Ikea couches for $100-$200. mmm...
I'm also a game ho. A few PC,Xbox,GC,GBA titles...KOTOR, Otogi, NCAA Football 2004, Vice City (which Rockstar is releasing on Xbox by getting around the Rockstar/Sony agreement through deleting the GTA reference), Wario Games, F-Zero, SSX 3, Half-Life 2. mmm...
Went to SF with Fred, Chu, and Leah. Went to Steps of Rome. Afterwards, we went to Twin Peaks for sightseeing. Fog had covered the downtown area but it was still cool anyways. Need to go back sometime on a clearer night.
Spent Tuesday night with Simon. He's taking off for LA and then to the East Coast soon. Went to Sushi House and then to the poolhouse where the wait was an hour long. Decided against pool and just chat with a few Smirnoffs. Showed me some pictures from his party that I couldn't get to. Good stuff. Going to miss having Simon around to go to the Telegraph/Oakland late night places with. He told me that KoKo House had closed down. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Say it ain't so!!!! I'll have to verify this myself sometime. Geez, that sucks.
I need to go to 99 Ranch/Korean market soon to replenish the food supply. Only have dumplings/chili bamboo/chinese sausage at this point. And oh yeah, a bunch of pops.
Great day in the Upper Bay Area yesterday. Clear skies and all. A couple of days ago I made some Pork Bone Stew with Daikon which came out incredibly well. I had to add more water in the end cause the flavor was so rich. Stewed it for hours and hours. In the end, the bone was practically falling apart. Good stuff.
Got some more Kabana yesterday. Good stuff because there's enough for 2 days of curry rice fun. I've never been dissatisfied. The wait may be a bit long but it's worth it. I always feel sorry for that little guy that runs around looking kinda scared of the big boss manager dude. Every time I go in, I watch some Bollywood dance classics. I also try not to look at the kitchen because that too looks like authentic Delhi backstreet. About the same cleanliness that can be found in Taiwannight markets.
Eric and Fred came over yesterday and hung out. Eric brought his WRX (!STi) and his 15" Powerbook with him. Eric showed my the Pros and Cons of the machine. Afterwards, we went out on a quick tour of the city which capped with some Jack in the Box and a night view of the bay from LHS. Got one of the best pictures of the bay last night. Great stuff.
I think it would be amiss if I didn't mention this Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Berkeley called Kabana. That is some good food. Cheap too. I really didn't like Indian food after I went to Pasand ($15 for a Lamb Rice platter that had like 5 pieces of Lamb...I curse Reddy and his family). The food at Kabana though really turned it around for me. Not only is it good but it's also pretty cheap. You get pretty full for about 7 bucks. Love the Naan and the curries. I recommend the Chicken Biryani. The manager can be a little curt, the place is pitifully small, and parking can be a hassle, but Kabana has my vote for best Indian hands down. I actually went with Lisa and her boyfriend Fred right before Lisa went on her trip to Korea. So I have them to thank for getting to know this place! :-)
Chris came by after disc golf and we went to see The Hulk. Alas, I am not in any of the scenes of Berkeley. I guess they cut out a lot of the scenery shots. Oh well. Pretty good movie once you take out some scenes that could have also been cut. Then the ending is a but out of place. Still though it was alright. At some point, I'm going to have to make time to see Charlie's Angels.
Happy 4th of July!!!
Just came back from watching the fireworks at the marina. Great show! Here's a picture I took. Didn't have a tripod to steady the shot so these won't come close to the ones my dad took at Disneyland. Disneyland's fireworks are so cool. They even have a mickey mouse type firework.
The other pictures are some of the guys I worked with this week on game creation. Last week was programming and robotics. Next week it's game creation and programming and robotics. I've got my hands full.
Here's some old pics
Congratulations to my sister, Cathy on her graduation!!! I went down there but forgot to update the site and write about it. In any case, I took a ton of pictures.
2 of the pictures are of the robotic arm and catapult built of 3-5 servos.
2 of the pictures are of animals. 1 is one of the cats that Jen cared for. It was so small and cute. THe other is of a bird that I sniped over at the clubhouse. At long last it waited for me to take its picture before flying away.
The last one is of the instructors I worked with at Berkeley. I'll be back at that site later on. I actually got recently promoted to Lead Instructor over at Dominican. :-)
Posting here before all my kids come in. So I've started my summer teaching job. Actually this is already my second week. Ach, they're coming in already. Just take a look at the intro jookwarrior.com page. I've updated it with some flash.
