I just finished making my personal nametag using Photoshop. Here it is...
I going to be working in SF now!!! Pretty excited about this opportunity. I'll have to thank BAJobs.com for this one. I'll be starting work on the 25th. More on this later!
Things here at iDTech are pretty crazy still. The sheer amount of kids is pretty amazing. Last night, I had the night off so 7 other instructors and I went to a Thai place in Stanford and then to a bowling place. I also got to go to the Fry's in Palo Alto last night as well. That one has the Old West theme. Some of the other instructors told me about all the other themes in LA. That means I've been to 4 total Fry's.
The bowling was alright. I only passed 100 once in the 3 games. As a group of 4, I won one but didn't win the other ones. It was a game of straight-bowlers vs curve-bowlers and it took them a game to make it. In the end, the differential was so large that Azim went and changed Dorkus's score and erased a strike and 3 spares. Dorkus got so mad but it was so funny on the ride back since Ozzy would make fun of his game and Dorkus would say something that Ozzy would eat up. Side-splittingly funny.
Since we had the night off, we also had 4-player Halo in my room for a couple hours. Great stuff, although Batman won almost all of the 15 games. Batman is an incredibly good Halo player. Either that or we all aren't good. We got some CTF action where me and Nightmare ruled Batman and Melon. We rock.
Today, I went all out in Ultimate Frisbee. Made a couple good catches but also almost got the Frisbee stuck in a tree. I need to learn how to throw better so my fingers don't hurt so much afterwards.
Wonder if tonight there is going to be 8-person Halo. I smell carnage in the air.
Look Look!!! Someone has decided to make a real living selling virtual goods. Tons of people part-time but this is for real. I don't know. $1000 in 3 weeks isn't all that impressive. It's really only worth it if that's what he wants to do for a long time.
I woke up at 6:20AM today unassisted. Yay. So, apparently if your computer has disabled cookies, my css switcher module doesn't work. I'll need to write something that will check that or throw out an exception when I try setting cookies.
The Digital Music Editing room here is really cool. A bunch of eMacs with 76-key? keyboards next to them.
I think I'm going to turn off the Java Banner as a default. I've figured out how to change the colors to match the css but its a lot of php code for little benefit. At least for now. I actually ran into my webspace limit yesterday when I was updating. That was a scary feeling. Shudder. As I attempted to WriteOut my update, an error message came up saying I had crossed the storage limit. It was like Unix telling me that my life would no longer go forward or something. But then I erased a bunch of old stuff (cards...test applications) to make way for these new updates. Something is going to have to give with those pictures. They load up too long and IE on PCs don't streamload like these Macs do. Aargh.
Linkin Park - Runaway
So many sections of the site have fallen by the wayside. The xbox, dreamcast, dvd, 360, images...Aargh. No time.
Ouch...for dinner it was pizza. Yay...pizza. So I HAD to get some late night Denny action. I am really lovin the Mac action they have over here at Stanford. These eMacs are really sweet devices. I love the display. Great resolution.
Of course, after watching Nightmare/Danny play some Flash game called Castle, we had to start the SSX Tricky action on. Of course I schooled him but he doesn't know any Trickys. Then we had some Halo action going on which resulted in a 1-1 game tie. Need to sneak away and get a 4th controller. This is just not good enough.
I await impatiently for news of jobs. Cross my fingers. I do NOT hope to die.
That last post that was a poem were lyrics to a song by Mum. I'll try my hand at something here...
Lights flickering in the breeze.
The lamppost sways under the heavy hand of wind.
Distant rumbling heard off to the distance.
My breath forms vopors that dance on the cold air.
As I quicken my step, I see a path before me.
I take it and see a desolate field upon which sits a lone man.
Before I am able to speak to him, he disappears and turns into a rock.
Limestone, Granite, Slate.
Sneaky old hermits.
Frightened that he might have heard me.
I hurry back to the confines of my own personal cave.
Creak, Creak...
It's dark in here.
Hopefully, someone remembered the key.
Oops, caves don't have keys.
I need to move those images off the main page. It's making the main page load so much slower. Actually Macs streamload it which is very cool.
Man, really haven't put up anything in so many weeks. It seems like a whole month or so has passed without much anything being written. Since the last real post, a few things have changed. Adam, my roommate of like 5 years, left for Japan. He had a party at his mom's house a week before he left. 'most everyone was there. Recently, I popped in "Pure Moods" and instantly recollected all the songs we would holler together. Ahh those were the days.
Idgy the cat is getting more and more friendlier each time. Idgy is so friendly now that he/she will jump right on top of me and start purring. Idg's a great cat.
Had a Shabu Shabu party at my place a couple of times. Great stuff that I bought at the Korean market. Got the Bugolgi, got all the spicy stuff. Great tasting all around. Had the fan going to blow out all the smells which worked only half-well. That's what I forgot, a fan to bring here to Stanford.
Stanford is where I am located right now. The camp at Dominican ended and then I was there for the last week at Berkeley. That week at Berkeley was one of the coolest weeks ever. Me, Robert, and Victor really had a ball. The last day was really cool as well. Naomi wanted Thai and I instantly said "Thai House!!!". Travis and Clint wanted In-N-Out so we had to organize a whole trip for food/drink. Drinks were provided by Beverages-N-More. Everyone really enjoyed the Thai food. All the best was represented. We had Pad Thai, Basil Beef, Green Curry Chicken, Yellow Curry Chicken, Duck, and all these other delectables. Splitting was such sweet sorrow. Turns out most of the instructors want to stay in the Bay Area so we'll all hang around later at some point in the future. If I ever need to go to New York, I have tons of people to visit.
So now I'm in Stanford teaching in the Overnight program. That pretty much means that I've signed over my life for a week to iDTech. Oh yeah, last week for family showcase I found out that one of the Web Design students was the daughter of my roommate's boss. That still doesn't beat the time I almost was going to be teaching the daughter of Pixar's President. That still leaves me with having taught the son of PDI's president.
Ok, signing off now. Got to move the kids out to the other dorm.
