I saw Close Encounters of the Third Kind recently on Sci-Fi. I had forgotten a lot of the movie. Never realized that the main character was leaving his family behind. Hmm. I wonder if Devil's Peak really exists. Pretty cool looking place.
There was this Japanese place near Faz in San Francisco that I went to have lunch at last Friday. Man, the prices were low but that chicken was soooo dry. I had to get some soup from the San Francisco Soup Company to compensate.
I took a beating from a kid at the Gamestop in Emeryville because I wasn't used to the Gamecube controls (no way you can play SCII with a 2-hand grip). Eventually, I got the hang of it and shut the little kid up. He was jumping around saying,"I'm beating him!!! I'm beating him!!!" His dad was like "Are you kicking his a$$?" And I was very cool about the whole thing. Just used those Raphael head taps and cheap tricks like that kid was using. At least with Raphael, I mixed in some juggles.
I went to Ross recently cause I feel that I'm always the worst dressed at work. Way too used to jeans. I got a pleather jacket because I'm still too cheap for a leather one. I'm not sure I would spend over $70 for anything less than a suit. I really wanted to get some new socks but they didn't have those huge packages of socks. I have to remember to go to Costco and get a membership card for the gas and the socks. Hehehe.
I work on the 14th floor but in reality, it's the 13th floor. But then again, I'm Asian so I shouldn't care.
I had the Seafood Rice at the Old Tea House. Man, that was so good. I think that they alternate the type of stuff they play on the TVs. I really like it when it's movie night.
Lisa is coming up this weekend. I don't know what's planned. Leah will probably think of something. I expect to hear more about France. Perhaps it'll change my opinion of France and I'll want to go back there.
I left my cell phone at work again today. I got the external antenna too but wasn't able to test it out in sub-optimal reception areas. I'll be able to tomorrow though if I remember.
I saw Mark Ribak near Old Tea House yesterday. Unfortunately, he left before I could say hello. I think the last time I talked to him was sometime late last year.
The Giants beat the Marlins so the series is now 1-0. Let's make it 3-0 in retaliation for the last matchup. Bonds stole a base today that lead to him running one in making the final score 2-0.
Richard is in Orlando experiencing some pretty lousy weather while the Bay Area is really looking a lot better (though I actually kinda prefer cloudy).
I need to put up that list of people I want to get in contact with sometime. Need to pore through some yearbooks.
On the bus, I've figured out who the "regular" people are. There's the Asian well-dressed yuppie who shouldn't be much older than me. The white guy in his 50s with his usual racing/car magazines. The old woman with her book. The old woman with her newspaper. I guess I'm the guy with the scooter furiously tapping away with his clie.
I saw a Porsche Boxster going up on craigslist for 27,000. Eyes started twitching and massive credit card/bank loans seemed imminent. Hahah jk
My headphone ear cushions are totally wearing down. Need to get replacements. They are like $3 online but then I have to get shipping. I'd rather just pay $5 at a store but I'm not sure where I can get ear cushions.
Interesting viewpoint on the death penalty that I heard from NPR. Apparently an inmate in Massachusetts killed another inmate while both were in prison for life. Since there isn't a death penalty there, there's not much they can do to the guy that can't be construed as torture (torture is illegal). Does not having the death penalty give lifers free reign to try to kill again?
There is a dog in the neighborhood that I'm going to start calling Ein. Why Ein? Well, it looks exactly like the dog in Cowboy Bebop that is called Ein. I think it's short for Einstein since it's hinted numerous times in the show that Ein is some kind of super-dog. This Ein is very friendly as well.
For some reason today, I thought about the time I gave a bum $10. I won't say homeless guy because there are bums on campus that actually have homes. I really ponder that decision since I knew he wasn't going to use it to treat his wounds. I should have been more hard-assed about it and made sure he went to a hospital. Erghhh.
I think I'm addicted to Old Tea House. It reminds me so much of the fun I had in High School. Good ol' Aliso Niguel. All it needs is a couple decks of cards and it would be after-school 13 cards all over again.
It's pretty cool having Eric and Fred up here. I kinda missed having them around to goof off and stuff. Too bad they're not just a mile away. Then again, if they were closer I'd never have time to study and it'd definitely be SCII all day.
I'm still going for my CCNA but at a slower pace than anticipated. I'm going to try and study more but it's hard coming back from work to do more work. I want to do the Project Manager certification but that requires like 3 years of experience. Also was interested in Penn State online MBA but that also takes a couple years of experience. So I guess I'm working on the experience part. Wish it was like a RPG or something so I could level up faster. I really should get a MSCE or A+ cert though. I just keep thinking that I might not know enough. Erghhh. I also want to take some econ/business courses to prepare me for the MBA but that's a commitment I need to evaluate first. One of the biggest things I wanted to get into was Security. This is going to be a huge field soon and I don't want to miss out. Already at work, corporate security is a daily concern for me. With Microsoft not getting its act together, I've instituted a security measure against ActiveX controls and plugins. Stupid patches that don't fix the problem.
My parents are now in Taiwan on their month long vacation. Lucky lucky. :-D I can see from my ip stats that they're checking the site. Hi!
My sister Cathy has started school too. I hear that there is a lot of running back and forth. Haha, that's what you get for having a large campus. I always assumed that people just drove around. Hmm.
Had to take the later bus on Wednesday since I decided to sleep in a little. This bus had an open side window just flopping around. Don't know what that's all about.
The new bridge that is being built alongside the Bay Bridge is coming along nicely. Very interesting seeing a massive bridge like that being built. I think the Richmond one is almost done. I wonder when it's supposed to be completed.
On Wenesday, the debate between the major candidates for governor of California was on. I listened to the first and last third on NPR and watched the middle onTV. The funniest debate I ever saw. I loved how Arianna said Arnold was a woman-hater (he kept on inturrupting her) and Arnold said that he had a role just for her in his next Terminator movie. Cruz was at his best calm demeanor, extremely polite most of the time. Camejo and McClintok were probably the most serious guys up there. Camejo verged on the fanatic Green Party member-ishness though. I think his microphone was propably covered in spit. Arnold is lining up support now though like Bill Simon and Issa. Personally, I'd like to give the Green Party a chance to see if they really can pull off all their claims and promises. If they don't get it right the first month, we could just have another recall!
Wednesday night, I kinda pigged out and had beef ribs with Lih-Chern and Jeff at Tony Roma's. Mmm, now that's finger-licking good. Come to think of it, I haven't been to Outback in at least 6 months. Geez, the last time I made it to House of Prime Rib was a year and a half ago. Eclipse was around a year ago as well.
"Is you in line?" That was the question a kid posed to me while I was at McDonald's for lunch on today. This is the McDonald's on Market that has this 60ish asian guy with the shirt covered with images of lettuce, carrots, and whatnot. He also has this pin on the size of a small plate that is supposed to be cabbage or something. Anyways, after hearing that question, to which I promptly answered,"Yes (No I'm not in front of the register trying to buy food, I just love watching the asian salad guy)". Do inner-city kids learn 2 languages? One to speak to ordinary people with and another for schoolwork? I hope sure that that there kid has better knowings.
Today was free wireless internet day. Lots of places all over the world participated. The McDonald's downstairs has wireless so I checked it out. Not really exciting stuff since I already have wireless at home. I found out that at certain places outside my building, I can still get a signal from my access point. Nifty stuff. Once that stupid external antenna arrives, I'm going to test whether or not that range will increase. It's called the Arc Freedom antenna. I'm mainly getting it to see if it gives my cell phone better reception so we'll see. Apparently those antenna mods and metal sticker dohickies don't work at all. What a scam.
A bunch of my colleagues are heading out of town to adminster conferences. Orlando seems to be a great place for conventions. I'm jealous. I'm going to have to get them to promise to send me somewhere next year.
Interesting topic came up on Thursday about washing your hands. KQED/NPR is such a great station. You use your dirty hands to turn the faucet on, you wash your hands clean, you turn the faucet off, transferring the germs right back to your hand. I'm never going to wash hands again. :-D
I'm learning a lot about codecs, compression and more...I was able to get Flight of the Osiris running on the Clie after a lot of different compression techniques. Apparently Clie's don't like VBR audio so I had to mess around with it a lot to get it to work right.
Oh yeah, that entire update wouldn't have been possible without having my ux-50 around me all the time to jot down ideas. It's truly making an impact. I minimize all the things I need to carry around at work now.
I'll have the review up soon I promise.
Recent studies show that people are 54 per cent more likely to believe a false statement if a percentage is embedded in it.

Last Friday I signed up for Pilates at work. Working on rolling out network updates for every machine is pretty time consuming. There wasn't a database of all the machines so that was one of my first priorities, taking what I remembered from Calperfs as a guide. Every company is scrambling to get these updates up and on their machines but aren't able to since they need to test the effect on all their software plus network. All I need to really test at work is Outlook and IE, since almost everything is done through the intranet. Had lunch with Paul at this Chinese place nearby with cheap prices but generous helpings of food. After work, I headed to the Metreon to droul at the stuff but just got an extended battery for the ux-50. I've been seriously considering coding a palm application to deal with the machine database. I'd probably just use the HanDBase software and create a form from that API. It's very nice being able to implement new ideas without having to go through the beauracracy known as Calperfs. The last time I developed anything for the palm platform was 5 years ago when I first got my Palm III. Then I made a small Pocket PC app. Palm was always weird because you had to sign up for an ID number to develop an app since apparently they would conflict if 2 apps with the same ID was installed. I don't know if they ever got rid that annoying detail. It reminds me of the Library number system found in the HP-48Gs. Same deal. Doesn't this just limit development? I'll have to look into this just to make sure.
On Saturday, Eric and Fred came over and we went to Oakland for Dim Sum at this cheap place I know. Actually since we kinda pigged out, we still paid a reasonable amount. Still, there's this kind of satisfaction that only comes from eating a lot of good Dim Sum and drinking some tea (which supposedly helps break up the fat ingested during the meal, Fred also heard of this, I'll have to test this out with a cup of tea and some pig fat).
Afterwards, we tried escaping to a mall to find some air conditioning to escape from the heat but found the mall to be strangely lacking even with the EB Games to entice us. We then went to watch "Underworld" in Emeryville (it's not at the AMC). I thought it was pretty bad and it seemed that the others felt the same way. Nancy said that "Once Upon A Time In Mexico" was pretty bad but then again, I don't think she's ever really liked any of the action movies in my collection. We hung around my apartment for a while while I prepared my costume for a "Office Space" party that I was invited to in Berkeley. I did some screen caps of the movie and created a replica of the Initech name tag in Photoshop. At the party, there was a "Jump to Conclusions" mat and even an Initech sign out front. We had a cake for Bill ( 2 Bill Lundbergs at the party)and almost continuous showings of the DVD. If you haven't seen this movie, go out and buy or rent it cause it's the funniest thing if you've ever worked in an office before. Contrary to what I thought before, there is an Asian man in the movie. Even an Asian woman. Both appear in the "Cake" scene. There were some people at the party that didn't seem to handle beer very well which kind of spoiled things but at least nobody puked or anything like that. Lawrence and Alissa were dressed up as Brian and Joanna in ther Chotchkies costumes. I took Eric and Fred to Old Teahouse which was a great hit. I've always liked the decor and the food. The Strawberry Froster is the best. They showed a Hong Kong Sci-Fi movie about vampires on the TVs. It's a good thing I didn't buy tickets to the Now and Zen concert since that would have conflicted with another appointment I had.
Being able to type all this out while on the go is extremely liberating. Now if only there was free Wi-Fi all over that I've been trying to see how we setup security at work and trying to figure out if we have any potential holes that might leak through. Without getting into any confidential information, it's safe to say that it seems pretty secure. Running utilities such as NMAP showed very few ports open on servers. I've run security apps such as Ethereal to see what outsiders can figure out about our network. I've highlighted some potential risks but they are mostly network user based involving individual machines. I wonder how the Win 2003 servers are going to be security wise. New viruses seem to target 2000/XP machines instead of the older NT4/98 set. Security of servers is a very important for every company that uses them to store anything. Even the most mundane servers (mail/print) can be attacked and used for inappropriate purposes such as stealing address books and personal information via email. Or even capturing what is being sent to the printer spool to see what confidential information is being printed to hard copy. These are all things to think about because too many companies cruise along not thinking about the potential for problems to happen. All it takes is for one successful attack for a company's credibility to go down the drain. As business/political warfare turns more and more into digital warfare (I'd say it already has...read a couple articles about China's hackers trying to get access to several Taiwanese government mainframes), the potential for harm becomes greater and greater. Super-paranoid IT managers have implemented scrambled-EMF fonts to mask radiation signatures from screens. In SF, where buildings are right across from one another, this is no small problem. How much access a user have with the Internet as well as the Intranet is key to protecting the company's interests. Even at Calperfs where access is tight and pretty well guarded, there were ways to get around the system. There are so many things that can be done to develop a secure system. A regular re-ghosting schedule. Standard hardware configurations. A knowledgeable user group (which may later bite you since then they know too much for their own good...hahaha). Regular testing with the latest hacker tools. I don't think many companies know the importance of having a good moral hacker take a look at a computer network. There is simply too many security holes that increase in number every time the network gets more complex. Since identity theft happens to so many Americans today, personal information should be regarded with the utmost priority. Things like credit card transactions (besides the credit card number) should be lower priority, since knowing that I watched a movie yesterday should be less of a security risk. Yet it seems to me that email servers tend to be hit the most. For the longest time, I would never add contacts into my Outlook Address book simply because the problem of viruses re-transmitting to every one I know. I'm slowly getting over it with the multiple layers of email protection in place at work but still... I've never worked in HR departments so I don't know what information they keep stored in hard copy in a safe and what they type in and save on computers/servers. Stuff like SSNs and Driver's licence numbers and Passport numbers are all held by HR. It's very pertinent that all IT departments work closely with HR departments in developing a secure network. I remember the big Pixar fiasco where somehow the payroll of the entire company became public information. Things like this can demoralize an entire company quickly and discredit it in the eyes of investors. I wonder if anyone got caught for that. Digital crime is inherently harder to catch if you're not already looking for that specific problem. It's the crux of IT security management.
Also on Saturday, I Went to see "Matchstick Men" with Chris and Laurie at the AMC. Good movie. Two thumbs up wayyyy high. Highly recommend it.
The Starbucks in Barnes and Noble here at Bay St does not have wireless internet. It's really quite a big disgrace. There is however a fire on fake logs so that's pretty cool.
Had some Thai on Monday. I passed by this interesting undergroung food place that had 6 or 7 different vendors selling Thai, Viet, Chinese... Thai was pretty good and cheap as well. I went to 99 Ranch to get some fish since I hadn't had fish in weeks (well, besides sushi). Got some Golden Pomfret that were on special. Also went to Kabana to pick up some food for tomorrow. Yumm. I saw a DeLorean at the Barnes and Noble parking lot today. It had a dull yet shiny looking body but thats what you get when you have an aluminum car.
Almost ran over an Opossum yesterday. Freakin thing didnt even look. It's no wonder that they're are so many carcasses around.
On the bus today, I saw what appeared to be the Mexican Consulate...that line is really really long. It stretched the length of a city block.
I brought the Kabana food and leftovers from the Golden Pomfret I made yesterday. Lih-Chern made an Asian pork dish where its steamed or boiled in water for a very long time. Looked really good. Must pester her for recipe.
Just got back from work, the package was waiting for me. It really was beautiful...almost had a tear in my eye...hahaha! The thing is, I'm supposed to wait like 4 hrs for it to charge up before I'm allowed to use it. I'm prolly going to spend the time putting stuff on the memorystick and getting it ready.
There's this really cool chinese restaurant in Berkeley now called Old Tea House. From what I can make of the characters though, it's more like something Heaven Tea... They have like 5 Sony Wegas on the walls and a couple plasmas. Cool!!! Reminds me of SoCal places.
Ended up at Denny's in Palo Alto after an aborted attempt to go line dancing in Fremont. Too many ol' people. :-D
Oh yeah, look at this Indiana Jones DVD Box Set!!! U know you want it. Mark Oct 21 on your calendar!!!
Haha, those new powerbooks are out. 15.2" with aluminum, better HD, fiber-optic keyboard. Gotta wait till the new OS is out though.
Now for those new Sony TVs...
Here's the tracking info for little package I'm receiving. Hmm...
Let's see...so the last update was on the 9th. That leaves quite a bit of stuff to be written. I think I'm halfway through Golden Sun 2. Did I mention that my uncle, my sister, and my grandma came up to visit? We went to that really good chinese place in San Mateo. Also got to the Twin Peaks area and got some glimpses of the city. I went to the Apple store and saw one of the new G5s. In 20 min or so, Steve Jobs is going to deliver his keynote address at the Paris Mac show where he SHOULD be announcing the new G4 laptops. Never know though, he can be really slippery. Got cheated by this Japanese place near work who sold me like 9 pieces of sashimi for $10. Freakin rip-off. I can see tankers from my window. I'm now taking the Transbay bus which gets me to work in 20-30 min. It's sweet cause it picks up and drops off near the entrance of Watergate Apt where I live. Unfortunately, I missed it today so I had to take another bus and then transfer to Emery-Go-Around. Went to Great China one night. Great food and the manager is such a nice guy. Also went to Sushi House. I love the Sushi Moriawase. It's like 30 pieces of sashimi. I saw the Bush Man again in SF. My mom got an Infiniti. A couple of days ago, we watched Cujo. I studied at Jill's. I saw a lot of crazy people at the cheap gas station on San Pablo. One fat black chick dressed up like Lil' Kim with a little Mary Blige thrown in (not because she was hot but because she had a blue wig on). A kid riding around on 4 inch rims. Some freaky people around SF. Ehh...all in all not too much happened.
Yesterday, I went to Chu's place for a BBQ. THere were a lot of people there that I didn't know but I was introduced to quite a few people. Some people were there that surprised me. Colin, Chu's bro was there, and also Monica from the LA-SF/Pixar trip. Colin is in his last year at UCI now and Monica is up here doing Law School. KiKi the dog almost choked on a bone and bit Fred's finger when he and I tried to stop KiKi from swallowing it (chicken bones are not good for dogs...my mom's dog from when she was a kid died that way). KiKi would growl as if it was her last meal or something. There was good music thanks to Chu's iPod. Some Germans used the pool while everyone watched. Played some pool where I actually banked a cue ball off a bumper and into the 8-ball into the pocket that I had incredulously called. 2 long trips up and down. I'd like to say that I'm good now but the fact is, I was just lucky. I lost to some girl afterwards. And she doesn't play much pool. At night, it was all about this game called Frequency on the PS2. It's gonna take me a while to master it. It's harder than Dance Dance. But I brought out the Soul Calibur and then it was on. Must have played it for a couple hours at least.
Today, after work, we all hung out in SF and had dinner at The Stinking Rose. It was Chu, Fred, Colin, Leah, Laura (whose visiting from New York), and me. I tried the Shrimp and Mussels pasta but I'd have to say that angelhair pasta isn't very good. Afterwards, it was Soul Calibur 2 at my place although we did start off by watching an episode from the Simpsons Season 3 DVD set. :-D
So today's boo boo happened when I brought some Jook back home. I was just finishing the last of my project updates when I noticed that it was already 5:05. My bus picksup/leaves at 5:10 so I just start running. Unfortunately, I forgot that I still had the jook in my bag. When I noticed the gingery smell emanating from my bag, I knew that the worst had come true. Luckily, only my camera strap was in the mess. When I was holding it on the bus though, I kept on getting weird looks. This nice woman gave me some wipes to clean off but instead of making things better, it actually got worse because they just made the jook soapy. I still appreciated the gesture though. Hopefully, no one got the wrong idea by looking at my white-cream covered camera. AARGH!!! It cleaned off good though since the jook was so viscous.
On another note, Sony apparently is going to start selling TVs that will not only display pictures from the MemoryStick but also record TV onto it as well. SWEEET. Looks like I'm going to wait at least a couple months for this to happen.
I folded and ordered the PEG-UX50. Man, this gadget better freakin revolutionize my life. I sure to need something to keep abreast of my to-do lists and deadlines. Here's what it supposed to help me to do...Gonna check out the wireless networks around SF first thing. Hehehe.
I'll have a better update and later on in the week a review of the UX50.
I didn't actually get out of work for lunch at all today. hahaha. Stuff came up and I kind of forgot about it. Kinda. In any case when I got home, I pigged out like there was no tomorrow. Made the last of my steaks, then some udon with egg (the enoki mushrooms went bad...:-( ) then some fish with cream of mushroom.
Another blog is being added to the blog universe. I wonder what the stats are about blogs and how many people have one.
Hmm, Dynasty Warriors 4 is every bit as fun as it should be. Still drops frames at times but the draw distance is pretty good. Pretty hard game still. I'd say that it's harder than the third one.
Almost went to Kabana 3 nights in a row. Thankfully, I went to Great China instead and they always have good food. The manager dude is such a nice guy.
Went to the R.E.M. concert at the Shoreline on Saturday. Got lawn seating but it was still a great concert. I have always wondered how people dance to R.E.M. and now I know. It's usually a swaying motion. :-D They played all the favorites including some of their newer stuff. Stipe had a green line drawn around his head which made him seem really weird, actually weirder than he already is. He had the funkiest dance movements. Didn't have Happy Shiny People though. What really sucked was that cameras were not allowed into the concert. I hate not being able to document stuff. Thus, I was only able to take a picture of the marquee. I really enjoyed the concert though. I really hope that they'll go on tour again soon.
I was going through my DVD stash that I brought back from home and re-watched "Meet The Parents". I love that movie.
Today, I wanted to go to Yank Sing but since I didn't leave for lunch till 3PM, it was closed for the day. I went to a place called Ichiban Japanese for some Chicken Udon that was pretty good. It even came with a Shrimp Tempura. As I was walking along, I noticed a bunch of other asian places that I've got to try.
On Friday, for lunch I went to go pick up DW4 at EB. When I got to Embarcadero Center though, I couldn't find it. Looked at the directory and it had a listing for EBX: Exercise Your Mind. I was like,"nahh..." Turns out though that that place was it. That's really funny. Exercise Your Mind. haha.
Made steak for dinner yesterday. Nancy and Della came over with their cat, Tequila. It's a pretty shy cat but we got the cat to move its paw up and down. :-)
I took this quiz and got 1 wrong. Aargh. Some of the other quizzes here are really worth taking.
I took some pics from the office last week.
Ok Ok so I'm finally breaking down and posting an update. I ended my stay at Stanford with the end of summer. I really enjoyed my time at iDTech, the people I met, and the experiences I'll always remember. The couple things bad about the junior college across the bay were:
1. Bad food. How many days of burgers/hot dogs/pizza can you stand? Made
me miss the gourmet stuff at Dominican. Catfish!!!
2. Distance to cafeteria. Every day was a hike.
3. The weather. Nights were always warm and sticky. Although that may
have
been the perspiration from an hour of Halo.
Started work last monday at a company called CMR. I work on the 14th floor of this building looking out over 2nd St towards the bay and Pacbell Park. I do IT stuff and Web Programming stuff there.
When I go out for lunch, you get to see all types of people on the streets. It's more varied than Berkeley I think because you have the suits and then you have the street-people, and also the people in between. Everyone seems to either go buy stuff at Macy's or Ross during their lunch time or go to the bank.
Man, I've gotten in contact with so many people through Friendster. A lot of old buddies of mine that I've lost contact with through the years. I'm still trying to contact a guy by the name of Evan Langan. We lost contact and I've always wondered what he was up to. One guy had a website where he had a page where he listed people he wanted to get in contact with in the hopes that if they googled their name, his site would come up. Pretty neat idea.
2 days ago, we had a company outing and went to Pacbell Park for the Giants vs. Rockies game. When we got there (a little late because we had to go to our colo to reboot servers), we were just in time for a homer which gave the Giants a 4-1 lead. They started blowing it little by little ending up with a tie which was only broken in the last inning with a single. Man, I pigged out with the 30 Giants Bucks that were handed to us. Had a super hot dog, a large drink, clam chowder, hot chicken wings, and bought a white beanie. :-D
Hmm, a few weekends ago, I went to a Renaissance Faire with Carl and Leah. I didn't dress up this time, thank goodness. NEVER AGAIN. Once again, the Faire was mainly a eating affair. I got a humongous turkey leg and fish and chips. Yumm Yumm. And I swore last time that I'd never go to another Faire...aargh.
Went to Kabana two nights in a row. Went the first night with Chris and Laurie(hope I spelled that right). It was the first Indian/Pakistani food for her so Kabana was a great place to go. Laurie thought that the Chicken Biryani was spicier than the Curry but I didn't think so. The last time I had it, I had to put curry on the biryani to get more flavor in. Both of them are less spicier than what I had the second night, the Kashmir Lamb. YUMMMMMMMMMM. The second night, the manager came over and said hello. I am now his "friend". Asked me where I came from and I said,"Taiwan", and he went,"Oh, make a lot of money in Taiwan eh?" and I was like,"um...the economy is so so". I wonder when I will get promoted to the rank of "friend who gets free deserts". I've already been there like 6-7 times. Wish they had a Kabana in the city so I could get their lunch specials.
Chris and I competed on Soul Calibur 2. Sadly, though I had some technique, it was a tough battle against Chris's button- mashing prowess. :-D I did end up besting him though. After some practice, I think I know some more things to try the next time. I'll never be able to get Ivy's special throw/attack though. Fingers were never meant to spin that way.
Today Dynasty Warriors 4 is being released on Xbox. Oh sweet joy. HUh huh HAAAA!!! I'm going to have to recruit Lih-Chern and get those special weapons.
Akin to this is the debate over what tv to get. Totally unsatisfied with the 20" wega I have now. Couple months ago, I would have been happy with a 27" but now I kind of want a little more. 30"-60" 16:9 with 1080i or p would be great. I saw the widescreen movies for Gamecube's F-Zero and man, and I am really impressed. I'm thinking that I need to get a HDTV anyways since the deadline for the switchover to only HDTV signals is coming up (hahaha in years, but I consider myself a progressive gadget freak). Everyone says Sony and Mitsubishi is the way to go and I shouldn't trust Apex for quite a few reasons. So expensive though. But hey, I should get a lot of mileage because I do like TV and console games. There's this $20 alternative method for projection where you take the TV you have, turn it upside down, and place a fresnel lens in front of it which stretches it out really big. Seems to work alright provided you watch in a lowlight room and your TV is really bright. I may just go ahead and do this for now to see if it works.
I had the Six-dollar bacon cheeseburger at Carl's today. The patty is bigger than the regular patty but I don't think it's worth the extra 40 cents over a double bacon cheeseburger. No way. As EBX was next to it, I went in and played some SC with some random guy. Whooped me with Astaroth but I evened the score later. Walking back I noticed 2 McDonald's within a city block from one another.
