February 27th, 2005 - 12:53PM

So we had a group go up to Kirkwood yesterday. The group consisted of Fred, Margaret, Dave, Emily, Angela, and me. The night before I went to sleep really late and then woke up at like 4 in the morning to get ready. Emily and Angela and Fred met up at my place and then we headed to Margaret's to put our boards in her car. The drive to Kirkwood was very pretty cause there were so many cows and rolling hills and fog. The people in my car missed it though cause all of them were asleep. Hahahaha. Anyways, we got there at around 9:30 but ended up not actually snowboarding till like 11 cause Margaret and Dave missed a turn unfortunately and our boards were in there. Still all of us got in quite a bit of snowboarding I think so it all worked out.

Emily and Angela at the Snowboarder's Beginner's School. Awwww...what cute sisters. Emily is the one in pink...she even found pink goggles. People were commenting on Emily's outfit the entire day. hehehe Those reflective goggles are really cool.

I got part of me in this shot...

Emily "resting"...here's she's seen getting acquainted with the snow :-) Her outfit made it super easy to pick out in the crowd :-D

On the ski lift

I almost lost part of my binding at a lift. Walked up and down the entire run before finding it at the lift. Some guy at the top told me that he saw something there and there it was just like he said it would be. Those pieces are so small I was incredibly lucky to have found them. I'll have to remember to make sure they're screwed on tight before I go up. I also was at a lift when a kid fell off of it. I had just gotten off and I heard a huge commotion...snowboarded over and saw this kid like half-dazed in a snow drift right below the lift. Must have been 6-8 so the snow went up to his waist. Pretty lucky...I guess he was preparing to get off and he just got off. :-P Looked fine though....didn't cry or wail or anything...much better than that kid who was screaming about his leg being broken (I actually went and got help...) and then 10 min was going down the slope again.

After all of us got back (thanks to Fred driving back part of the way and Emily giving me a much needed backrub...Fred gave me some of his Advil and Emily gave me this Echinacea Tea which helped tremendously too), we stopped at Margaret's where we found out that Dave's car had been broken into. Sucks hard...it was in a garage too which mades it suck really really hard. Well, after filing a report, Dave understandably went home while the rest of us went to this Japanese place called Sui Sui K. Margaret had mentioned this place to me earlier but since it looked from the outside so dingy, I didn't really think much about it. The inside of Sui Sui K is nice and clean though and I was very impressed with the quality of the food. It's basically $10 a person for all you can eat Japanese food. You can order 3 items from the menu (per person) at a time. There was quite a bit of stuff in the menu (udons/ramens/curries/sushi/rolls/handrolls) to order. I loved the Curry Rice but I hadn't had it in so long so I might have been biased. They used to have some kind of website but it looks like it's no more. Here the 411 on it though...

Sui Sui K
417 7Th St
Oakland, CA 94607
510-268-9099
Open from 11AM-10PM everyday

Angela's attempt at an artistic shot...it probably would have looked better if the flash was turned off...maybe. :-P Oh yeah and next time Emily comes over I'm supposed to show her the "Predator" camera cause she's seen the movie before. hahahaha

I got GT4 for the PS2 recently...the graphics are just awesome. I can't comment on the driving and everything because I suck at it but it's still pretty neat. What's pretty cool is that you can save screen caps directly to a USB flash drive. ALL games should have that feature.

February 26th, 2005 - 12:36AM

Hmmm...last night I went with Eric/Fred/and the others to VH Noodle House in the 99 Ranch plaza. Got the Chew Jew Fun Noodle Soup with the kidneys...very good. Unfortunately, all I had was my cellphone so that's what I'll have to post once I've uploaded the pics.

Today, we went to Everett and Jones in Oakland to try and get some good ribs. The wait there was outrageous though so we just brought it back to my place instead. Had the full slab. Of course, I only had a couple pieces...there's no way I could have finished it on my own.

I think I look a little dazed in this pic that Fred took...probably in awe of this huge plate of ribs...hehehe

I got a new snowboard jacket (this one is actually water-proof!!! hehehe) yesterday. Didn't get a helmet though...Emily has the 411 on a place that is having a big sale.

Tomorrow, we have a group all going up to Tahoe. I'm really looking forward to it although I'm really not looking forward to the drive.

February 24th, 2005 - 12:59PM

Almost got my car towed this morning...one of the apartment buildings is getting its pavement resurfaced or something which has displaced a whole lot of cars. When I got home last night, there were no spots except for the parking lot near the neighborhood market. I'd parked there before with no problems so I figured for one day it wouldn't matter. This morning though, as I walked to the parking lot, I saw 2 Berry Bros (the same guys that towed Chris's car from Nanny's apartment parking lot) tow trucks hitching up cars to tow away. I was like "oh no....." Luckily, when I got to the lot, my car was like 1 of 2 which hadn't been taken yet. Lucky lucky lucky. I guess I still have a bit of that left.

But then again, Emily made me brownies, biscotti, and lemonade (hand-squeezed hahaha jk I think she said she used a juicer). Lucky lucky lucky

For some odd reason, when I mention that I watch "Desperate Housewives", I get a different response to when I say that I watch "Gilmore Girls". Actually I haven't watched "Gilmore Girls" in ages but then I may be the only straight guy within 10 miles who has Seasons 1-4 on an external hard drive somewhere. I think it must be the concentration of good looking women and the sinister plotlines which make it so different.

Ever catch yourself singing Christmas carols? I do....it's been gloomy and overcast these last few days, so for some reason, the neural pathways are abuzz with "Let it Snow". I blame the freakin card that I sent out this past Xmas. I'm still infected months later...

Have you heard about how China is really mad at the US and Japan for talking about working together on the Taiwan issue? And now Clinton is going to meet with Chen Shui-bian on Sunday...what about that Anti-Secession law that China is just about to pass (by the puppet parliament...pretty much rubberstamp...although of course to make it look legit, they'll have a few people dissent)...this is such a sticky problem but I really feel that China isn't helping matters with all its saber-rattling.

A new Photo Ipod was released and while I was looking at it through the website, I found out about a dongle that lets you connect memory cards to ipods for file storage. However, the reviews of it are so mixed that it doesn't seem like it'll be my solution for Peru. *sigh*

Hmm...look at this poll of the top TV pirated downloads. I think I've dwonloaded quite a few of these listed actually. But now it's just Desperate Housewives and Lost.

Last night, I had dinner with Eric, Fred, and Alan. Originally we were going to Old Teahouse but we ended up at Gypsys. I had the Frutti di Mare there which was amazing for the price ($6.99) Then I had a great Strawberry Frost at Old Teahouse while we watched a bit of "Kung Fu Hustlers". It was great, it was like the whole place was watching. :-D

February 21th, 2005 - 1:37PM

So at the airport in San Antonio, Matt, Jay, and I went to this Tex-Mex place before boarding our plane. Jay and I got the carne guisada. I found out later that the difference between guisada and asada is that guisada is a stew (so bit size pieces of beef) while asada is usualyl a roasted/grilled steak but it can be pieces as well. I like guisada...it's not like Chinese beef stew but still pretty darn good.

My polarized glasses are really interesting. The airplane windows had this kind of rainbow tint when I looked at it a certain way esp when I looked at bodies of water...I'm assuming that it has to do with the angle of transmitted light after refraction. In any case, it would do funky things with LCDs since LCD's typically transmit at a certain angle due to the twisted nematic cells. I'd look at the Departure/Arrival monitors and it would be completely blank...I'd cock my head to one side so I could read it. Hehehehe it was a lot of fun turning my head this way and that. My laptop uses another kind of polarizer/analyzer though cause the display only disappears at a 45 degree angle.

The flight path on the way back was really awesome. It took us right over 24, down over Berkeley, Emeryville and along Oakland. Here's the view of Memorial Stadium.

UC Berkeley Campus

I live right at the orange complex at the bottom! It was pretty cool to see this from above.

Bay Bridge Toll Booth

Alameda Causeway

At the Hyatt, this sphere is notoriously hard to photograph along with people. Emily and I went to the Equinox for dinner. She picked me up from the airport! :-D

Emily and I...we actually did pretty well in getting people to take pictures. I think as more and more people get digital cameras and start playing around with it, the random people that you choose to take pictures will more likely be better photographers. The first guy (the one that took the sphere pic) actually knew what a long exposure was all about (he said that he should find a railing...hehehe fellow photographer because we saw him later taking pics of his own). Second guy had a shakier hand but not too bad actually.

Crabcakes...the sauce was excellent. Crabcake was pretty good as well. We still don't know if that white vegetable was daikon or something else.

Lamb chops...a little tough but it was still tasty. A bit too oily sauce for me though.

Seafood Pasta...I had a little bit of it and really liked the Alaskan Halibut.

Emily was so sweet in picking me up from the airport! I'm so glad that she liked the Equinox esp since I haven't been there in such a long time. It's kinda weird talking about a date esp when apparently I've got some new readers so I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves. hehehe

February 20th, 2005 - 8:44AM

AHHHHHHH!!!! My flight to Denver got cancelled so now I'm going to be 3.5 hrs late to Oakland...usually I'm totally fine about it since I've got my laptop and everything but Emily is picking me up today so this is incredibly disappointing. Good thing, Jay, Matt, and I got to the airport early though cause they were about to put me on a flight that would have me arrive in Oakland at 10PM. The ticket counter guy was nice enough to spend a lot of time getting us onto the next flight to Denver since a lot of the flights are pretty full already...ok well...I'll post the happenings of yesterday now...

Went to Sushi Zushi for lunch...it's near Biga which I didn't have a chance to visit again. Review Look they put cool rocks to hold down the napkins.

I got the Edamame for free (coupon)...this meal was really good...I should have had more Japanese food during the week instead of all that oily stuff. That's a Hamachi-don. Hamachi is one of my favorite sushi-fishes.

Spicy Salmon Avocado Roll...very good and spicy

Soft Shell Crab...very good

Went to La Margarita with the client last night. Review It started raining in the afternoon. This stuff was for our fajitas...it had a Cheese filled Chili at the top. I was so "meated" out though so I ended up not eating much. Still the beef was really good. This place had the highest review out of all the places we ate at...a 9.7!!! I mean the food was really good but the review said "Romantic - Yes". La Margarita is NOT a place you would take a date since it's wayyyyy too loud.

February 19th, 2005 - 8:52AM

Went to Luciano for lunch yesterday. Review Here's the free Bruschetta

Luciano's Bar

Had this Beef Tenderloin with Shrimp dish. Excellent spinach and peppers/squashes. It even had a fried? Potato Ball.

I saw this guy pulled up next to the phone booth in the parking lot in his car. He sat in this car, reached out the window and started talking on the phone. I wondered if he was the local druglord. lol

Near La Mansion. I walked by here again on the way to Texas Land and Cattle.

Riverwalk near Pesca

Had dinner at Texas Land and Cattle. Review Had a Swirl Margarita and the appetizer was the Combo platter which had Shrimp Dip as well as Spinach and Artichoke Dip.

Jay and I got the trio. Matt made his own combo of ribs and steak (Cowgirl size...hahahahah) Shrimp/Steak/Lobster. What could be better?!!!

Jay, Matt and I in front of the Alamo

Inside the Menger Hotel...the Menger is supposedly haunted.

Very Texas-style elegant

The sunglasses that I got are Oakley's Half-Jacket Jet-Black/Black Iridium Polarized. Emily told me that her friend got additional lenses for the price I paid so I will probably be returning them and getting the deal.

February 18th, 2005 - 3:00PM

Desk in hotel...I love the color...very cool.

Nighttime at the Riverwalk

View outside of Pesca and the Watermark Hotel

Went to Rio Rio Cantina last night. Review Had a Mango Margarita and full rack of baby back ribs. I had these last time but I didn't ask for the sauce to be put on the side...this was so good just by itself. Must be the rub or whatever they smoke it in. I also figured out how to set a custom white balance on my camera. The red heat lamp that was right above us (it's a bit colder this time of year than when I came last) made everything glow red if you didn't use the flash.

Group shot

I also had the Kahlua Cinnamon flan which was pretty good.

February 17th, 2005 - 1:50PM

In response to comments from Cathy and Margaret, yeah Pesca is a pretty cool place. The guy even took my napkin out of the holder and opened it for me. Very weird. The sherbet thing was in Princess Diaries?!!! Wow, no wonder I never had it happen to me before. The bill however for 13 people came out to be around $1300...man that hit my credit card hard. Hahahahaha jk. We had quite a bit of wine going all around and everyone got appetizers and desserts which when combined is another entree (although some people got oysters which by themselves is an entree price). Although, last night I "paid" for dinner and it came out to be almost $300 for 7 people and this was just a "regular" meal. It totally was the wine though because we didn't have desserts. Ordering wine is like having another person at the table. :-) This time we turned away the mariachi guys though. Last time, we couldn't even hear ourselves think!

February 17th, 2005 - 12:00AM

Interesting G/M Steak house...this was where I had lunch today. I was of course the only Asian guy there. It's a very non-touristy type place. I was telling Scott about this place and how people were looking at me...

The sun has been beating pretty hard these last few days so I got me some new sunglasses!

We went to Michelino's tonight. Review We had some of the old Gabbiano Chianti as well as a bottle of Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir. I liked the Pinot Noir...it had a sweet flavor. I don't know what those reviews were saying...sure its a bit expensive but at least I liked the food. I had the Frutti di Mare dish last time and it was pretty good.

The Salmone con Herbs was amazing..." Our Salmon filet is delicately coated with herbs, baked and drizzled with a fresh tarragon sauce". And look Emily! I had my vegetables!

Freshly grated parmesan

Jay and his $20 from Scott for finishing his Veal Parmesan

The CMR AASA Crew

I'm watching The Rock's The Rundown...it's totally fulfilled my action movie quota for this month. Sheesh it's got everything!

February 16th, 2005 - 9:00AM

Ok so Jackson asked how the game "Skills" is played and here it finally is...

First you need a reasonably sized area to play in. Something not too small or too big. Something racquetball-sized I think would be ideal but playing in a smaller court is fine too. Even having stuff on the sides adds to the challenge. Anyways, you'll need a metal bar or anything that will signal that its been hit (better an audible signal rather than just saying it moved since everyone can hear it...a metal bar makes a pinging sound). "Skills" is like tennis except the mandatory bounces are different. You play with a rubber ball like a handball or something similar that has a good bounce (not a basketball). The goal of the game is to bounce the ball back and forth without hitting the metal bar or any surrounding obstructions as well as observing the rules of the game.

Rules of the game

1. You must bounce the ball once on your side of the court before entering your opponent's side of the court. Failure to do so results in a point for your opponent.
2. Once the ball has entered your side of the court, you may hit the ball at ANY time (that means before a bounce or after a bounce). Failure to hit the ball correctly before a second bounce results in the loss of the round.
3. If you hit the ball into your opponent's court and you hit an obstruction BEFORE a bounce, this results in the loss of the round. Hitting an obstruction afterwards is allowed. In fact, people try to use that to their advantage, since a bounce off an obstruction is technically still considered a bounce. So if timed correctly, the opponent would have to hit the ball either BEFORE the first bounce OR right BEFORE it hit an obstruction.
4. Blatent hard hitting is not good sportsmanship...Skills is a game of finesse not brute strength. This rule is hard to enforce but usually the players and bystanders usually agree on this.
5. Skills uses a volleyball-type point system where only the server can receive a point for winning a round. If the server loses a round, the service goes to the other person. That person can then try to gain a point from winning a round. The objective is to be the first to reach 15 points. You switch sides after 1 person reaches 7 points.
6. If a hit results in the bar getting hit, you lose the round. This means that if you hit it, the ball bounces on your side of the court, and then hits the metal bar, you lose the round.

February 15th, 2005 - 2:36PM

Our private room at Pesca on the River. Here's a review of it. I'd heard about this place last time but never got around to it. Very good although the service was a bit slow.

Matt got a salmon appetizer which was the combination of salmon prepared 3 different ways. Pretty interesting

I got the Lobster Bisque...simply amazing. The wine is a Treana which is a mix of different red wines.

They served a lemon sherbet to cleanse the palate before the main course...I've never had that happen before. Very interesting.

Since Pesca is primarily a seafood place, a lot of people got some kind of fish...groupas...salmon.

Here's my Poached Redfish...it was really really good. The fish literally fell away from the skin.

Matt's 7 layer chocolate cake...very decadent.

The Passionfruit Creme Brulee...simply amazing. Also the little sugar cage was really interesting.

A closer look at all the intricate work that went into it...

February 15th, 2005 - 2:36PM

Emily took this of the flowers and candy...Look at that silicon wafer in the back!!! Emily liked EE143 too! I actually have a much smaller one that I keep in my desk. hehehe

Going back to San Antonio is like I was here only a few weeks ago or something. I still remember where everything is. I know how to get places. It's pretty cool. This time I've already scoped out places that I didn't get to last time like the Tower of the Americas and a few restaurants.

Tulips

My sister Cathy sent me a rose for V-day. Here's a pic that I think William took at the office. I totally wasn't expecting one! Thanks Cathy!

This was on the way to Denver. Really cool clouds...the plane from Denver to San Antonio got delayed for an hour and a half but it was no big deal cause I had internet the entire time. Even was emailing/IMing on the plane hehehehe

Emily made Nian Gou and Chocolatte covered Strawberries. Delectable! The Nian Gou wasn't too sweet which is what it usually is. Good for me cause I can't handle stuff that's too sweet. How me and Emily ever finished that Tiramisu at Cheesecake I'll have no idea...:-P

Welcome to Tornado Country! At Denver International. I wonder if Emily ever saw any tornadoes...

My hotel room this time is even better than my last. Although it isn't a king like last time...this one definitely is more comfortable.

Mountain Goat Dish at Original Mexican Restaurant (right next to Rio Rio Cantina)...it was the first time I had mountain goat I think. RO said that it's a festival dish in Mexico.

February 14th, 2005 - 5:51AM

So the guy came right on time. The taxi cost $42 (I gave a $6 tip). I used the 1-800-TAXI-CAB service to have someone pick me up. I made the reservation at 4AM! :-P Talk about last minute.

Now I'm once again wayyyyy early. But that's a good thing. I've had too many times where I'm rushing to the airport due to traffic or something.

February 14th, 2005 - 4:55AM

The shuttle is coming to pick me up to go to the Oakland Airport at 5:15AM. My flight is at 8AM, arriving at Denver at 11:35AM and then finally getting to San Antonio at 4:27PM. It's going to be a long day but hopefully I'll have connectivity while I'm in Denver.

Today happens to be my first Valentine's Day with Emily and it's really hard to be leaving. *sigh*

Yesterday, I spent a lot of it at work actually. I had some loose ends I needed to tie before leaving. Went and shopped around (getting some pre-Valentine's day stuff in the process) and had lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express. Then had a Mango Frost at Old Teahouse with Fred and Eric. Fred just got back from a weekend at Tahoe and said that it was pretty good. We'll see if I can go up again before all that snow melts away.

Afterwards, I met up with Emily at a Q-Cup. Emily and her friend Faye baked these sweets today (well actually yesterday) and I'm going to eat them on my trip! There's this chocolate covered strawberry with a treble clef frosting that Emily put on it that is just so amazing...I'm going to have to take a picture of it. (EDIT: Emily says that actually Faye did that but I think the inspiration probably came from Emily...I want to make a bass clef one or maybe just a cello one next time) She's so sweet! (hehehe...she even had a sweater reminding me of that too actually)...ok no more!...it's about time for them to pick me up. Oh yeah, I happened to give Emily editorial privileges to all posts/pictures regarding her (this is the only way I could get her in a picture...hahahaha).

BTW, I changed the flash on the main page to reflect Valentine's day!!! I'm so tired right now...I havent slept all night. I'm definitely going to sleep on the plane.

February 13th, 2005 - 10:27AM

I had dinner with Margaret a few days ago to celebrate Chinese New Year. We had Vietnamese Rolls at this place in Oakland...it was pretty good stuff since the bill totalled to something like $13 and I was pretty full. I found that I like sweet potato fried! Usually I don't touch the stuff but I thought I'd give it a shot and it was actually pretty good. :-D

The day afterwards I felt under the weather (not due to the rolls) so I worked from home that day. I did go with LC to Ikea for lunch though. Also went with Fred to Old Teahouse for dinner another night. Old Teahouse played some new S.H.E. music videos...it was almost like college again. I even played Eric at "Skills" again and did much better than the first time. I think the score was 15-7 or 15-8. It's Eric's freakin serves that get me.

Andrew was up visiting Sarah so Eric, Andrew, Sarah, and I went to Naia (previously Mondo Gelato) on Shattuck. Still the same good stuff that I've come to expect of that place.

Yesterday, I spent the day with Emily shopping at Union Square. We hit a whole bunch of stores before going to Cheesecake Factory. Look at all the people at Union Square. Everyone was out buying stuff for Valentine's Day. The weekend gets pretty crazy. There was quite a bit of traffic getting into the city.

Emily and I on the outside patio of Cheesecake. While we were waiting, we went "couch shopping" at Macy's. Hahahaha, isn't that what everyone does while waiting at Cheesecake Factory?!!!

4th Floor of William and Sonoma...The W&S store in SF has 4 floors! They have this elaborate stairway in the middle. I always find myself wanting everything if I go to this type of store...Sur la Table and Crate & Barrel are great too. We saw this stainless steel bar which supposedly you could rub to get fish/garlic odors removed from your hand. Wonder how that works...This site says that it has microscopic grooves in it which trap and "disintegrate" the odor molecules.

Looking at the Desserts book...these books always have awesome pictures. I took a photo of the Creme Brulee recipe...hehehe

My first visit to Santana Row. In the middle section is this entertainment area. Huge Chess pieces...Emily is going to have to take me around here next time.

Went to Pasta Pomodoro...had a Mega Frutti de Mare (but it was more expensive than the Bay St. PP I think...had more stuff in it though)

Chris and Lori...we went to see Hitch afterwards. It was a good movie and wasn't a chick flick like Emily said. :-P The entire section behind me was a bunch of guys! This movie has something for everyone I think... After the movie, I had this pretty big headache so driving home wasn't much fun. I did manage it though :-)

February 9th, 2005 - 11:13PM

On Saturday, I went over to pick up Eric and Fred for dinner. Ended getting what they call "Clampooed". It was kind like Brazilian Taijitsu except it wasn't gay. Just basically Eric and Fred trying to restrain me. I think I held my own but had I known that they'd try to hold me to the ground I would have taken more active measures.

Fred took this pic of me at Mitchell's Ice Cream in SF...we went here after dinner at Eve's Hunan (now something else)

Great Ice Cream at Mitchell's. How does it compare to Fenton's? Can't really say...

Afterwards, we played this game "Skills" which Eric learned from another Andy. The premise is simple but it can still be very frustrating.

On Sunday, I went to the Saratoga Drama Group's performance of "South Pacific" where Emily was playing in the orchestra.

Russians playing at Saratoga's Mustard Walk event.

Mustard Fields in Saratoga...

Mustard Flowers...

Emily is the one in red in the violin section. She's wearing flowers in her hair. It's a horrible picture I know hopefully I'll have better ones Saturday. The musical was great and the cast was very good. During the intermission, one of the sailors (Michael) introduced people in the audience. He turned towards Emily and then said (And I'm paraphrasing...I was so embarassed I couldn't really memorize what was being said) "And here we have Emily, she's going on a first date with a guy named Andrew who's in the audience." Then he looked right at me (I sat in the second row and kinda stood out from all the elderly people in the audience) and said,"We know where you're sitting and where you live, so better treat her right or else we'll come after you". Hehehehe, everyone was laughing and pointing. Emily had her head in her stand. :-D Afterwards, I went to retrieve the lilies that I had brought and all along the way people were congratulating me and asking if I was the guy Michael had mentioned. :-D

The Cast of "South Pacific"...

Afterwards, Emily and I went to E&O Trading Company in Downtown San Jose. Had Shrimp Skewers, some BBQ Pork thing, some Thai Rainbow Trout...and these really good Passionfruit drinks. We didn't go anywhere else (it was getting late and it was a Sunday) but it didn't matter because I was spending it with Emily! :-)

In other news, Mom told me how to fix my Chawamushi...apparently, I beat the egg mixture too much causing bubbles to form inside the mix.

Awesome early morning clouds from my window.

Clam Chowder with Nancy. This place is right next to where I work. I didn't even know they had an underground floor.

Since it was Chinese New Year, Eric, Fred, Lih-Chern and I ate at Daimo for dinner yesterday. This is Assorted Seafood with Tofu Soup (my favorite this entire meal)

Green Beans

Duck/Roast Pork/Chicken

Fred must have accidentally taken a slow-shutter shot...now my arm looks really big.

The Chinese New Year Group

Beef with Black Bean Sauce

Scallops with XO Sauce in Chow Fun

Some New Years Pork thing that was mainly bone. We had a lot of fun with this one. We were so full it was insane.

February 8th, 2005 - 1:00AM

Exciting new development...story sometime soon. Lemme just say for now that I had an awesome Sunday. And that's not because of the Super Bowl (I was rooting for the Eagles). :-D

Anyways Happy Chinese New Year!!! It's the year of the rooster...my mom's year!

February 6th, 2005 - 12:54AM

I had a full day of meetings a couple days ago...felt sooooo tired. It was like one after another...

So Sony announced the launch date for the PSP...March 24th! Get your pre-orders in...first million get the Spiderman UMD.

My cellphone can use MP3s as ringtones!!! Just found that out today and I've had the thing for over a year now. First ringtone I put on was one I created from Basement Jaxx's Good Luck.

On Thursday, Margaret come over to talk about the Peru trip and I made Baked Tilapia and Flank Meat with Pea Sprouts. Costco materials...hehehehe. Actually Margaret brought the pea sprouts which I love but have never actually bought for myself.

Another busy night at Shabuway...Margaret actually read the Sunset magazine article on San Mateo that featured this place!!! Talk about coincidence...it just came up cause I was talking about how I ate with LC at Shabuway in San Mateo again (see below) and Margaret was like,"I just read an article in Sunset about shabu shabu in San Mateo!". Hahahaha...so the article did come out. It's the January edition though...

Another interesting meat pattern from Shabuway...I went with LC...haven't eaten at Shabuway in a while...wait was a little long but it WAS a Friday...very good stuff as usual.

Went to REI with Margaret to look at packs and boots. Didn't get anything but I have a better idea about everything now. Afterwards, we went to 4th St. Had brunch at Bette's. Here's the lox scramble...with Margaret's Mango/Pineapple Souffle Pancake (artistically backdropped by Margaret). Bette's had a giant pie hanging from the ceiling. I'll try to get pics next time I go...it's very much like Can't Fail Cafe. Oh...and I didn't bring my camera so had to use my cellphone instead.

February 3rd, 2005 - 7:00AM

I realize that I haven't posted in a few days but I've been busy recuperating from snowboarding and everything else. Eric's mom asked to see my China pictures which made me go back and take a look at them. Just realized that I didn't post pictures of the last 4 days of my trip!!! Don't know how I could have missed that...anyways, I'll probably add pics from those days in at some point.

I made a big thing of Chawanmushi a few nights ago. I put shrimp, chicken, and udon in it. Good stuff although I need to learn how to make it without any air bubbles.

Went to see Million Dollar Baby with LC a few nights ago. Great movie...not just a boxing movie. Definitely deserves its Oscar nomination.

Went to Texas Roadhouse last night with Chris and Lori. That ribeye steak up front is not mine. I had a salad.

We're getting a new stove fan installed today. That means no more smoke when cooking!!!
