I traveled to NYC from Philadelphia via Amtrak Businessclass. I was able to stretch my legs out a bit...I don't think I'd do it again but for this particular trip, it was worth it.
After I arrived in NYC, it took me forever to get from the NYC Penn St Station to the Intercontinental Hotel (1.4 miles) where I stayed a few nights. Actually the NYC Grand Central Station was much closer (.4 miles) but Amtrak doesn't stop at Grand Central when coming from Philly. I had to do 1.4 miles...in the rain...during rush hour...with luggage...anyways, after I dropped off my stuff, it was time to explore! This was the LV ad campaign back then. I love these jokes. :-P
My first time at the 5th Ave. Apple Store. Awesome.
Descend into Apple Madness
It was raining so the lights on the cube were pretty interesting...very Ghost In The Shell-ish. View from the bottom.
The last time I saw Rockefeller Center, I think I was in 8th grade or something.
Just another perspective of Rockefeller Center.
At 7th and W 48th...looking towards Times Square.
Walking to meet up with Eric...I encountered this encumbered sign. Wow...a $350 penalty for honking??? Fine+2 pts for blocking the box??? Wow, this neighborhood must have members on the board or something.
It was late at night after a few drinks at a bar...what else can foodies do? We eat. Eric took us to Shendy's Halal Cart on 53rd and 6th. Some people know it simply as the 53rd and 6th Halal Food Cart. I think it's a part of the Shendy's brand because I saw a Shendy's Halal Cart van parked around the corner. This was at around 10PM-11PM and there was a long line for food. You KNOW that that is a great sign...so exciting!

As you'll find on most review websites, the greatest thing about the Halal cart is the white sauce which Eric is holding in this picture. I used that along with the hot sauce. I wonder what we're laughing at in this picture but I think Connie is wondering aloud what the heck the white sauce is.
DIG IN!!! OMG, this stuff was good. It can't have been that I was hungry...this food went beyond that. The flavors of the meat + white sauce and meat + hot sauce were just amazing.
You know the food is good when the chef samples it.
Connie and Eric...Connie's green trench was sooo cool...it's got a very unique kind of brocade design.
Eric and I reminisce about the awesome food we've just had. Supposedly there's another cart on 49th and 6th that some say is better. I will have to make some kind of scientific comparison of the two next year when I'm visiting New York again.
I'm surprised we were able to raise our arms up after eating all that.
Eric is always friendly after a good meal...sometimes a bit TOOO friendly. :-P
