I thought it was very good. The story was quite imaginative and had an interesting take on the concept of the self. The action scenes were also very done. Over all, highly recommended. (On a side note, it was a bit jarring for me to note that Hitomi Nabatame, who played Margery Daw, also played Feena in Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na)

Oh, and did anyone else get the feeling that Reiji Maigo was a bit of a Deus Ex Machina?

To me, Shakugan no Shana seemed pretty awesome in the beginning. But later on, the story just kind of went in a "everyone's happy so kawaii" direction. It seemed darker at first, with people dying and whatnot, but now everyone seems to survive.

This is a good thing.

Anybody currently watching Kiddy Girl-and? I'd like to know if I would need to watch Kiddy Grade before I watch this show, and also if the show is any good.

Currently watching:

Monster on Syfy (or however it is that you spell it); episode 8 was a really interesting episode from a production standpoint, but I can't talk about it in detail until I get the boxset in December; Eva's animators were top-notch for this episode as the level of expression was very detailed... but I can't go into it unless I have pictures)

Ghost In the Shell 2.0 Blu-ray... will likely talk about in mah shitty blargh... not a big fan of some of the cuts that were re-done in 3D (it's not all bad, of course; the 3D interphases look so much better now [I'm pretty sure that Oshii is trying to match it up with how INNOCENCE looked, but this brings with it some problems)

(ALSO, I wanna take screen-caps from Blu-Rays; ffffffffffffffffffuuu--)

I was also vaguely watching the second Hayate disc a few days ago; show is fun, but there were no liner notes; what the fuck Bandai???

Like, there was this one joke in the Lucky Star OAV that I didn't get because there were no liner notes (unlike the release for the TV show, which also had a dub by the way [no one cares, I know]), can someone please explain this joke?

Also, yeah, I know that it doesn't really count if you only understand it after the fact, but stuff like liner notes are important (see AnimEigo's recent release of Shohei Imamura's Black Rain... brilliant movie and it got a great release too; real quality stuff... on the other hand, yeah, a movie about Atomic Bomb survivors probably warrants more things to talk about in comparison to Lucky Star)

NO U!

My night is now officially ruined by this imagery you have just proposed...

Anyway, going back to censored words, I find it interesting that Hayate the Combat Butler is offered in two versions on the DVD:

Bleeped dialog and un-bleeped dialog...

Why would issues be different for the TV release?

Why would they allow the products and whatever to be un-bleeped in the DVD version?

I mean, if it was like boobs or whatever, I'd understand why there would be 2 versions of the show... but this thing about the censored product names on TV, but uncensored on the DVD doesn't quite make sense to me.

...

See, if the damn thing came with liner notes, maybe that would've been explained (I know why it's censored to begin with; you apparently just can't name products on Japanese TV or whatever without the original owners' permission or something... but why doesn't this apply to the DVD version?); I'm too lazy to go to google.

Well the bleeping is supposed to be part of the joke. I'm confused as to why they didn't just have multiple audio tracks on the same discs.
