This is me leaving...

...and wishing everyone a year full of smiles, memories, memories of smiles, and smiles at memories.

Until next year, take care, have fun, and let the good times roll (but do that when I get back, too)

Reality is awesome

We live in a world where people will say "I wish I could meet someone who really understands me." Then when they do, and that person says "I know you better than you know yourself," they get angry.

We live in a world where people will say "Don't judge me," and then hop onto an online community based around judging people.

We live in a world where people don't know what they want, don't know where they're going, and don't know why they're here.

Reality is awesome.

A new drinking game

Inspiration hits at odd moments.

For a new and odd drinking game, consider the following:

Two (or more) contestants, each armed with half a grapefruit and a spoon.
The goal: To consume the grapefruit fastest.
The catch: S/he who squirts while eating, drinks.

For added fun, make it eating two halves, with everyone taking a drink every minute (or half a minute if you're in a rush) they don't finish. Try eating a grapefruit whilst drunk; it's amusing.

Nearly a month later...

Time for an update of all things right and wrong that've gone on in the past month or so.

For two weeks I was sick. Nothing exciting happened here. Apparently, it's a good idea to see the doctor after you've been sick for a week and a half.

For another week or so I kept thinking to myself "I want to go swimming today...but it's not really hot out, kind of cold." And then I finally got to go swimming.

The next week my cousin from Ohio came (his name's Chai, like the drink). Apparently, in Places Which Are Not LA, people refer to freeways without the article "the," e.g. "take 5 to 405 to blah blah blah." This after years of being used to "take the 5 to the 405 to blah blah blah." Apparently, it also seems that a "hook up" for LA folks (the ones I asked anyways) seems to lean more towards sex, whereas with nothern CA folks, a New York friend, and my Ohio cousin, it's more related to just making out. Maybe it's something in the LA air. At the least, Joyce certainly thinks so (particularly, something in the air that makes her hornier and me more inclined to hunt for play...or something like that, I forget the exact line and don't particularly care enough to look it up).

Sometime during his stay, my cousin, Joyce, Shannon, Vincent, and I went clubbing at Perversion. It was Vincent's second time (thankfully, or he might've just watched the whole time), Shannon and my cousin's first, Joyce's who-knows-how-manyth, and my...third? Fourth? I lose count. I'm glad I got Vincent to get out there and dance with us a bit, I hope he had a chance to cut back and relax for a bit. He always seems rather uptight and worried about letting go for a bit and letting desire drive for a bit. I'm told that there was this one particular fellow who was getting all up over me (though I'm going to continue denying that and tell myself that he just happened to run into me a few times, and hope that after a while I'll believe it). It was good seeing Joyce again, since she and I really never get to hang out much (and she's such a delight to be with because we can both be weird and do strange things together). More time with my cousin is always fun, we're both a bit abusive of each other (which is a good amount of fun in it's own right), and hanging out with Shannon at a club was a bit new (seeing how she and I usually just bum around doing nothing). All in all it was a fun night, and the rest of the cult-folks will have to come next time.

Somehow, more time went by, my cousin went back to Ohio after my mom tried to hook him up with this one girl named Elaine from USC (which was just an awkward mess, though from what he tells me she called him from Taiwan...hmm...), and I kicked around for a bit more time. Then came the annual Anime Expo.

The group for Anime Expo this year was Erica, Ria, Shannon, Daniel, Vincent, Paul, Roy, Ryan, Victor, Olivia, and me (along with cameo appearances from Diane, her friend Matt, Bryan, and apparently Phil, whom I missed). As with previous expos, we didn't do much in the world of That Which Is Related To Anime, but we had a load of fun. Somewhere mixed between a lack of sleep and extremely hot weather, we somehow found the time to mix in a little booze and create some odd memories. A few selected pieces of mine. going from strange and bizarre to plain amusing:

1) Licking Shannon's tongue. I don't think too many people noticed this little episode.
2) Running over little skinny fanboys during their pseudo-mosh and throwing them around. Ria says "fierce." Psychoanalysts would probably say "passive-aggressive anger management issues."
3) Having a guy I just met (named Jae) try to hook me up with this girl named Grace (age 16, i.e. jailbait) so this other guy would leave her alone. Fangirls get the most awesome drama, I wish I knew more of them.
4) Getting drunk and having Lisa take pictures of me with odd facial expressions in odd positions. Apparently I'm sometimes an effeminate drunk.
5) Erica and Ria dancing up to random fanboys to give them an experience they'll probably never have again. Women. Two of them. Particularly the random Asian guy with glasses who started REALLY grinding into Ria.
6) Vincent getting freaked by Erica, Ria, and Paul. All at once.
7) A random fangirl running up to Daniel at the dance, touching his hair, and starting to run away when I get to her and her friends. My silver tongue convinces her and her two friends to dance with Daniel. Again, all at once. May his girlfriend never read this site (and if she does, she can blame me so Daniel doesn't get in trouble).
8) Seeing Diane and Matt interact and noting how similar it is to how Shannon and I interact. Later followed by Diane's remark "I don't want to be Shannon!"
9) "I thought he was Paul!" If you don't get it, you don't need to know.
10) Vincent's rant. Apparently, alcohol really does loosen the tongue.

Despite a bad masquerade, our ditching of the AMV contest after finally getting in to booze it up and go to the dance they had, and strange security issues with checking in to our room, this year's Anime Expo was a big ball of fun. I always thought their dances were lame. When I went sober, I discovered I was right. I (and others) then went upstairs, threw back a couple shots (seven or so), went back down, and proceeded to make it cool.

So with eye candy, eye stabbing ugly people, and a lovely dinner/lunch at Black Angus to polish off the weekend, another Anime Expo came to a close.

I just wish I could make it to next year's.

And since people love hearing about themselves, a few quick lines for people by name:

Shannon: You have a nice tongue. You've got potential to be a good tongue kisser if you keep working on it. And despire the insecurity, you're the only one who came home with a brand new fanboy.
Erica: You freak a fanboy well. You also have the greatest connections in Apples to Apples
Ria: You freak a fanboy well too. I can see how you and Olivia would get along really well. No more Asian guys with glasses for you!
Daniel: You have fangirl appeal, Britney better watch out! Also, I think someone or other got a picture of you when you were riding on my shoulders at the dance (hmm how compromising)
Vincent: I like your rants, they're interesting and help bond by creating understanding. In regards to picking a fight with Bryan/Ria/whoever else, remember not to bite. And no physics problems for you.
Olivia: Meeting you was fun, you're pretty outgoing and have a good sense of humor. Keep Ria from playing with too many little boys in Boston, she might get a bit carried away (and hog them all :D)
Paul: Moshing good. More moshing better. You'll have to come with us again sometime.
Roy, Ryan, Victor: No line for you! Except come faster next time I say "hurry they're closing down seating"

Next potential outing: Roadtrip! Look out norcal, here we come!
