Established in 1992, the Asian Pacific American Theme House (APATH) is a living-learning community on the Ground and First Floor of Unit 2, Towle Hall. Members of APATH have an academic and personal interest in Asian Pacific American history, culture, and comtemporary issues. Through organized academic and social activities such as student-led lectures, group discussions, cultural events, and community service, residents become part of a unique environment for interaction and learning. APATH is known for its close-knit community that develops every year between its residents. It is comparable to a home away from home.

All residents particpate in Asian American Studies 98/198, a seminar conducted by house members under the guidance of the faculty advisor. The course gives residents an opportunity to meet professors, community leaders, activisits, entertainers, and fellow students while focusing on a variety of issues, including personal identity and community service. It provides a space for discussion and analysis of issues tha the students are interested in or may be concered about.

New students are required to enroll in Asian American Studies 20A - Introduction to the History of Asians in the United States, providing the historical background needed to participate in discussion of Asian Pacific American issues.

The theme program is co-sponsored by Asian Pacific American Student Development and the Asian-American Studies Department.
