•A Conversation with Meg Conkey: November 23, 5-7 pm (221 Kroeber Hall)
The AUA will be hosting a discussion with Professor Meg Conkey to address the campus wide Undergraduate Student Learning Initiative (USLI). USLI is a project to support departments in establishing educational goals and evaluation procedures for the undergraduate majors. As a result of the initiative, the Anthropology Department faculty has discussed and developed a set of specific goals and has indicated some of the courses where students can find these goals. Prof. Conkey will tell us about the project, but more importantly she is interested in the opinion of the students. What are we getting out of our education? See the Calendar page for more information about this and other upcoming events!

•Study-In at the Anthro Library THIS FRIDAY (10/9) through Saturday! As a continuation of the walk-out, this Friday through Saturday, there will be a "study-in" at the anthropology library. People are asked to come between 4 and 430pm on Friday, and bring a toothbrush! We plan on holding the library open until normal closing time on Saturday. For more information, see the AUA calendar and also the Facebook event page, as well as a letter written by first year PhD. student, Callie Maidhof, who helped to organize the study-in. Be there, and bring a friend!

•Movie Night - Mark your calendars! Thursday, 10/15, 5-7:10 pm (221 Kroeber)
We will be hosting our second movie night. Come along and bring a friend! We will be watching The Face of Evil and having a discussion afterward. See the calendar for more information.

•Spill the Beans - Share your research! Tuesday, 10/6, 5-6:30 pm (221 Kroeber)
There will be an informal roundtable discussion TOMORROW, October 6, where other undergaduate Anthropology students will be discussing their work. If you are interested in sharing your anthropology research or fieldwork experiences, please contact Ursula Wagner at ursula.wagner@berkeley.edu. This is an excellent opportunity to help out your fellow classmates as well as to learn about how to do your own research! Be there! For more information about the panelists, see the invitation on Facebook.

•Walk Out/Teach In - As you probably know, tomorrow (9/24) is the date for the walk out/teach-in. Join us in congregating with the entire anthropology department so that we can make our presence known! The department will begin congregating at 11:30am at Kroeber Fountain, then proceed to march as a group to Sproul Plaza for the events at noon.
