I realize that I have written on capital punishment and that may have been what you thought this rant was about by the title, but I assure you that it is not. No, this rant is about something else. This is about getting rid of waste. Yes, waste. People can be waste. We produce trash, hurt the environment, cause pain to others; we are not the kindest species on this planet. So why not eliminate those among us who serve no positive purpose on earth? I think I need to define who fits the definition of someone who warrants elimination. At the most basic level, anyone who brings no positive effects to anyone should have their life ended. Horrid criminals come to mind instantly who fulfill this definition. But a loner also does. Think about it: if someone has no friends and relatives, how are they bringing any positive thing to this world? At a low level they are bringing benefits to other by buying products and driving the economy by generating revenue for companies, but their environmental impact and possible immoral acts most likely outweigh their economic benefit for others. So why keep them around? They are larger hinderance than a benefit. Kill him or her and remove that negativity from the world. Now if someone beings happiness to someone, like a criminal who has performed a petty crime and has family or friends, then they do not fit this description. Think of it from the perspective of anyone who would not be missed if they disappeared one day should be justifiably killed. "But, Drifty, that's murder!" Wrong. Murder, according to Dictionary.com is "The unlawful killing of one human being by another, especially with premeditated malice". Firstly, this would not be unlawful since it brings benefit to everyone. Besides, I have issues with immoral laws, so even if the law said it was wrong, morality would me on my side. And as for malice, we don't want to see anyone suffer so the killing would be quick and painless. So this does not fit the definition of murder. I am sure you are now saying that it is immoral to kill someone and so my arugment in the previous paragraph is null. I would have to differ with idea that this idea of justified killing is immoral. Just look at utilitarianism. If you apply hedonistic calculus to this, you will notice that the outcome that killing someone who fulfills the requirements of someone who should be killed is supported. They are only bringing more pain than pleasure so they should be dealt with so as to remove their pain from this world. Now I am sure that someone reading this is going to bring up the argument that God would disagree with all of this. But would he? You are sending someone to Him for judgement and who will most definitely be sent to Hell. And if it is a mistake, well then they will go to heaven. And you can't say killing someone is wrong because it is done in wars constantly and those are sanctioned by the Church on occasion. Just look at the Crusades. These people that are being justifiably killed are harming all of us and should be killed. It could be viewed as self-defense to make sure that this world is not gone to crap because of these people who bring us no benefit. It must be remembered that these people bring more pain than pleasure. And saying that every soul is precious is bunk since I am sure that most people would have no issue having a serial rapist or murderer suddenly disappear off of the face of this earth. God has had his share of people struck down for their sins, we are just helping Him out expedite their judgement. It is even economically beneficial. Instead of keeping these people around, using up valuable tax dollars from jaling, welfare, or just plain living we can kill them and spend that money on people who deserve it. So we benefit in more ways than morally. Interesting idea, huh? I realize that the problem of who should and should not be killed under this definition would be nearly impossible to execute in this world without someone abusing their power. This would only work in a purely utopian world where fair judgement could actually be rendered. Also remember I do not necesarily agree with this. This is meant to spark some thinking in anyone who reads this. I hope this really makes you think about the value of a life and if all of them are worth keeping alive. |
