Alumni Band Day 2010

The principal activity of the CBAA is Alumni Band Day. Alumni Band Day 2010 is scheduled for Saturday, September 11, 2010 when Cal takes on the Colorado Buffaloes. Game time is set for 12:30pm.

SCHEDULE:

Charting...

Mark your music like this please:

My Girl: Stand and Play West (towards alumni)

Brown Eyed Girl: Stand and Play West (towards alumni)

Uptown Girl: Stand and Play West. At measure 77, we will HIGH STEP East towards the students (that's a Left Back Pivot!) for 7 measures, mark time 1 measure, and close at measure 85 facing East.

Just a Girl: Stay closed facing East (towards students)

Barbie Girl: Stand and Play East. At measure 144, we will MINI MILITARY North (that's 8 steps per 5 yards!) for 12 measures. Then at measure 156 (drum break - Cal Band drums only), we will take 8 counts to turn to face West-alumni ILITARY).

I Kissed a Girl: At measure 158, we will MINI MILITARY West for 7 measures, then mark time MINI MILITARY until we CLOSE West at measure 174.

Then the Script California per usual.

Wristbands ...

It appears all players (that is, everyone holding an instrument and playing with us, marching or not) will need a wristband to a) get into the stadium, get onto the field for halftime, and to get onto the field for postgame. We are working out the logistics of how this will happen.

With the construction of Memorial Stadium, things are in flux. We also don't have access to Maxwell Field. We appreciate your flexibility! We will use the survey responses to shape the day so PLEASE take the survey.

On your Alumni Band Day RSVP, you'll notice a question regarding march up from Sather Gate to Memorial leading up to the game (How important it is to you?). Due to the 12:30pm kick-off and construction, one option is to stay up near Memorial all morning to avoid walking down to Sproul/BRH just to walk back up (we would miss the Sproul Steps concert). Since it's already going to be a busy morning, we want to simplify as much as possible. We'd like your response IF you are someone participating in the day. (While we appreciate the opinions of all band alumni, we need to make this decision based on who is actually doing it.) Email me separately if you must comment but cannot attend.

MUSIC:

Every song in the packet, including the show, is digitized this year and available for download and printing. Please help us cut down on paper costs and distribution time on game day by printing and cutting your own music.

Due to copyright issues, we have to "hide" the music behind a password. The login/password has been shared on the cbaa-announce email list. If you need this information, please email . If you have the login/password, please click here: Alumni Music

UNIFORM:

Alumni Band polo shirt & hat, jeans or dark pants/shorts. Shirts & hats are available for purchase at ABD, but you can save valuable time by pre-ordering (see MERCHANDISE). We have men's and women's style polo shirts. A first-time 2-year membership ($30) or any new lifetime membership ($325, or $80 per year for 5 years) includes a free shirt and hat.

MERCHANDISE:

You can pre-order your shirt and hat and pick it up at ABD (the cost of shipping and handling will be reimbursed to you). In the address 2 field, please add the word 'PICKUP' to indicate that you will pick up your order at ABD. If you cannot make it to ABD at the last minute, the order will be mailed out on the following week.

BANNER KIDS:

To carry the banner on the field during halftime, kids MUST be at least 53 inches tall & attend the morning marching rehearsal. Limited spots are given on a first come first serve basis. The uniform is a white Cal shirt & blue Cal hat. All kids of all sizes are encouraged to march behind the Alumni Band banner into the stadium IN UNIFORM.

TICKETS:

Same dealio with tickets as in past years. We have secured free entry for:

ALL OTHERS NEED TICKETS.

There absolutely CANNOT be any spouses, friends, parents, kids, etc. following along with an alumni band member through the North Tunnel (kids under 2 years old are free, so they are fine). Each person must be holding an instrument and marching in the parade block. Please, let's not abuse the privilege we have of getting in free to the game. Everyone else must have a ticket and enter through a gate. Season ticket holders - bring your tickets to share with other family and friends. The game probably will not sell out, so everyone can purchase a ticket anywhere in the stadium and move to our section - probably at the front of HH and I.

RECEPTION:

Immediately following the game, there is a reception in Alumni House (free snacks, soda, beer) for ALL former Cal Band members & families. You do not need to have marched in Alumni Band Day to join us for the reception.
