| BASA (Berkeley African Students
Association) is an ASUC-sponsored
student organization, founded in the early 1960's to increase
cultural awareness and solidarity within the African Diaspora on the
University of California at Berkeley campus. Our constitution can be viewed on this
site, and determines the goals and objectives of the organization.
The objectives of BASA are:
- To create an
opportunity for students of African descent to socialize and
interact in a relaxed atmosphere.
- To provide student
members with an environment conductive to successful completion of
their academic objectives at Berkeley.
- To create
opportunities for members from the African continent and members
of African descent in the Diaspora to understand each other and
their different backgrounds.
- To encourage and
enhance awareness about African issues, cultures, and
values.
BASA is open
to ALL students genuinely interested in the objectives and
the organization. BASA offers a wide variety of committees for its
