The Berkeley Fiction Review is a forum for short fiction, published annually. We invite submissions of previously unpublished short stories with these guidelines in mind:
- Submissions should be typed, double-spaced and single sided with 12 pt. Times New Roman type.
- Include your name, email address and phone number on the first page of the story.
- Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, with notification.
- The Berkeley Fiction Review does not accept stories longer than 25 pages, as we try to publish between 10 and 15 stories each issue.
- We only accept electronic submissions, sent to bfictionreview@yahoo.com, with “Submission: Name, Title” in the subject line (For example, Submission: John Doe, The Girl in the Pool).
- Cover letters should be in the body of the email, stories should be attached as .doc or .pdf files.
- Keep your cover letters brief: include name, address, email address and the title of your story. Please don't summarize the story - it should speak for itself.
- Since our staff is composed of student volunteers, expect a delay if you submit during the summer. Our payment is one contributor's copy.
- Contributors are encouraged to read the Berkeley Fiction Review before submitting work in order to get a feel for the work we publish. Our most recent issue, Issue #31 is $10, and back issues are $8.50, including shipping and handling.
