Year in school:I'm currently in my last semester (hopefully!) in the master's program in the Energy and Resources Group, which is an interdisciplinary graduate group that deals mainly with environmental issues and economic development, from technical, sociological, economic, and historical perspective. We're not a part of any department or college.
Research/professional interests: My research interests are in two somewhat distinct areas: (1) historical-cultural, (2) technical-policy. On the historical-cultural side, my master's project brings together the disciplines of environmental history, black history, and sociology in a study of wilderness, race and racism, and African American perceptions of and experiences in nature. On the technical-policy side, I have done a variety of work on climate change, environmental justice, and industrial ecology.
Hobbies and Interests: Bicycling, music, and soccer and basketball. With music, it's mostly listening and sometimes playing. With soccer and basketball, it's mostly playing and sometimes watching. I also enjoy farmers markets.
