We're always looking for fresh ideas.
Join our creative, high energy staff and become part of a large-scale publication production. The award-winning Blue & Gold Yearbook is the perfect place to get your creative juices flowing with opportunities in photo, creative writing, design, art, business, and publicity and marketing.
Contributors.
We always need stories, so if you are a student organization who has done some amazing activities this year, please contact us and let us know if you would like to be featured in the yearbook. If you wish to contribute to any of the six sections, please contact us as well.
Writing team.
Our writing team is focused on covering a variety of stories that define the year. There are six sections in our publication: features, academics, athletics, organizations, greeks, and seniors. Staff writers are encouraged to discover topics on their own, along with working on assigned stories.
Photography team.
Anyone interested in building their creative portfolio is encouraged to join our fast-paced photography team. While most of our photos are black and white, we have a full section in color that is often coated at the press with a special ultraviolet protective coating. To see your work presented this way is a good way to enhance your résume.
Design team.
Our design team is responsible for creating the layouts and graphics for the yearbook. Because we do not require any previous graphic design experience, this is a good way to learn the industry-standards Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Besides layout, design develops a rich and coherent visual theme for the publication. Design meetings are conducted in a presentation and critique style.
Editorial board.
The Blue & Gold editorial board consists of editors for each production team, as well as supervising editors who manage the overall production of the book. While each team meets independently once a week to discuss their respective work, the editorial board meets regularly to bridge the teams together.
Operations teams.
The five operation teams act as the backbone of the Blue & Gold, facilitatating communication with third parties, fulfilling orders for new and old books alike, fostering interteam interaction, and marketing our core publications. We are looking for creative individuals who are able to visualize an audience and get the message across in humorous and unique ways. Experience gained as a member of the operations staff is excellent for your eventual transition to the working world, and especially good for résumés.
Business board.
The Blue & Gold business board consists of managers for each operations team. While each team meets independently once a week to discuss their respective work, the business board meets regularly to bridge the teams together.
To join the Blue & Gold Yearbook, please fill out an application and drop it off at 10D Eshleman.
