The main focus right now the Humane Society Ballot Initiative to give 20 MILLION animals enough space to TURN AROUND. Not too much to ask for... But if we don't gather *350,000 signatures* by Feb 20, those animals won't get even that basic comfort. People have gathered 300,000 signatures so far, so we can do it, but we* REALLY NEED HELP*! This week, love for animals will be in the air during the week of valentine's day... BOAA has 2 big events planned:

(1) Vegan Valentine's Bake Sale on Tuesday, February 12 on Sproul plaza from 11-1*. We'll be selling animal-friendly cupcakes, cookies, peanut butter cups, etc.
-If you have a good vegan recipe and like to cook, we'd love to have more baked goods!
-We're probably going to have a cooking party on Monday night. Let me know if you're interested in baking something, and/or if you'd like to come on Monday.

(2) Jack Norris, co-founder and president of Vegan Outreach, is speaking on February 13 at 7:00 in 24 Wheeler.* Vegan Outreach is an activist organization that has created the higly-effective "Why Vegan?" pamphlets and passed out over a million of them around the country. He will be speaking about the history of the animal rights and vegetarian movement in the United States: What's been tried, what's worked, where should we go from here?

**Last chance to gather signatures!* Signatures have to be mailed by February 20, so we're nearing the last days. So now's the time to do it if you want to have a hand in helping 20 million animals! We'll be gathering this week in the beautiful sunny weather at the dog park, farmer's market, and flea market. Let me know if you'd like to join.
