Submission Guidelines
BPR is currently accepting submissions for Issue #41, expected publication date May 2010. In addition to verse and prose poetry in any style or structure, we are also seeking socially conscious poetry and poetry in translation. We are asking poets and scholars from diverse disciplines and departments to contribute papers on poetry as well as BPR Issues original poetry. For poetry translations, the poem must appear in both its original form and contemporary English.
Poems are reviewed from August 31st to October 1st, and from January 1st to March 1st. Unsolicited work that arrives at any other time will be held until the next review cycle. We will also accept artwork submissions for consideration for the cover of the Review. As submissions will not be returned, poets should retain a personal copy. BPR does not provide comments or suggestions on submitted material.
To submit a maximum of four poems or manuscripts, create an e-mail with the subject line "Submissions for Issue #41," attach your poem(s) or paper(s) and a short biography as a Microsoft Office Word document (.doc) attachment, and send the email to berkeleypoetryreview@live.com.
UC Berkeley students and staff may place their submissions in the BPR mailbox in the English Department Office, located in 322 Wheeler Hall.
Berkeley Poetry Review reserves first North American serial rights, non-exclusive classroom copyrights, non-exclusive rights for any later BPR-generated anthology, and non-exclusive electronic rights for our online chapbook.
