Fall:
Fall Retreat
Each semester bridges provides a weekend retreat for its board members and interns so that all of the communities that are invested in the organization can come together to create a single vision and semester plan, to discuss pressing issues, and to get to know one another on more than just a working level. One of the main goals of all of this is to help develop a strong group of leaders at Cal within the Recruitment and Retention Centers and other Student of Color groups, organizations and communities.
One Week
This week, which began in Fall 2002, is a weeklong event designed to promote community and cross-cultural collaboration between the RRCs and other members of the bridges community. Some events included during One Week are a community BBQ, Open Mic/Talent Show Night, bridges Class Jeopardy Challenge, bridges Mixer/Social, Community Dinner and Teach-Ins. One of the most popular events during One Week is the Noon Sproul Photo. This is when the bridges staff hands out the year’s One Week T-shirt and everyone takes a photo with the shirts on in front of Sproul Plaza. This is meant to show a visual manifestation of our unity.
bridges Bowling Night
This event is held every semester. Members of the bridges and RRC communities are invited to bowl for free at Albany Bowl in another event to promote community development, friendship, and collaboration.
Multicultural Shadow Day
In coalition with the five recruitment and retention centers, 100-150 underserved high school students are brought to the UC Berkeley campus. On there stay here, they are given tours, student panels, and academic workshops. By sharing our experiences as students throughout this day, we empower youth with the holistic tools that they need to begin thinking and pursuing higher education.
bridges Community Dinners and Forums
These dinners and forums are opportunities for the different communities within the bridges coalition to educate themselves and others about both ethnic-specific and multicultural issues on local, statewide, nationwide and worldwide levels. The dialogue helps bring to life the meaning of the quote, "your struggle is not your own, but ours, too".
bridges Study Nights and Finals Study Week
These study nights recognize the importance of the academic retention of current Cal students by providing an opportunity for members of bridges and their classmates to come together to study in a variety of different environments, from completely silent to semi-social along with drinks and snacks. Beginning Fall 2007, RRCs of the bridges community began to collaborate to put on a multi-day event before final exams – the bridges Finals Study Week – in which a RRC hosts an all-day study event in MCC/Heller Lounge, offering food, study materials and exam materials such as bluebooks.
Fall Awareness Week and bridges Lobby Day
Each semester the bridges community prioritizes issues that they would like to organize around and feature in a week long series of events including an issue teach-in, a visibilty on Sproul day, a lobby teach-in, and a lobby day at the state capital.
bridges Intern / Volunteer Program
bridges is looking for enthusiastic and innovative interns to help coordinate core projects and to help establish new ones. The internship program aims at helping individuals gain a broad knowledge of what bridges is and what the organization does, better understand the issues individuals and communities of color face in higher education today, positively impact and educate the campus community through activist work and program development, and identify, develop, and train future leaders dedicated to bridges' goals.

Spring:
bridges Senior Weekend
This annual event where over 400 recently admitted High School seniors come to UC Berkeley and get a taste of what it would be like to come to this prestigious university. The students learn about the different aspects of life at UC Berkeley, from the educational, financial, and social sides.
Multicultural Transfer Day
This day is particularly tailored to 100-200 community college students with tours, student panels, and academic workshops. Throughout the day we share our experiences of what it means to be a student of color in higher education. It is in our strong belief that our shared experiences will serve as a median to promote higher education as a means of empowering our communities.
Shadow Days
These days are hosted throughout the year, in which underserved elementary to college students are brought to the UC Berkeley campus. Through college tours, student panels, and academic workshops we share a unique perspective of our experiences as students of color.
