February 19, 2009 - Support Walter Hoye
     One of our speakers during Celebrate Life Week, Walter Hoye, was wrongfully accused of harassing and approaching individuals without consent at an abortion clinic in Oakland.  All he was doing was holding a sign that said, "Jesus loves you and your baby.  Let us help you!” and asking, “May I talk to you about alternatives to the clinic?”  Despite the prosecution witnesses admitting in court that he never used force against them, threatened them, or blocked them in any way, he was convicted.

He is going to be sentenced at 1:30 pm Thursday, February 19th, 2009 in Department 109 on the fifth (5th) floor of the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse, 661 Washington Street, Oakland, California 94607-3922.

Here's the plan:

  • Meet at Downtown Berkeley BART station at 12:30
  • Take the 12:40 Millbrae Train (Bring $3.00 for the round trip)
  • Get off at the 12th St. Oakland City Center stop
  • Walk to Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse, arriving at 1:00pm
  • (Sentencing begins at 1:30, but we're allowing extra time for getting through security. )
