AJUA stands for Adelante Jornaleros Unidos en Accion (AJUA). CHE recognizes that there are several people in our communities who lack access and knowledge about Health Issues and Resources. AJUA is primarily directed at the several Jornaleros (Day Laborers) who don’t have access to health information and who wait for a job offer in order to sustain themselves and their families. The purpose of AJUA is to give them a health pamphlets that contain information on a particular health topic and a list of facilities where they can access health care for free or low cost. We also provide them with a meal that promotes a healthy lifestyle.
We hold this service project 2-3 times per semester. It is a 2 day event in that we prepare the bags on Firday and we pass them out to the Jornaleros of Berkeley City on the next day,Saturday. You are doing a great service by attending this health project as well as getting to meet the board of directors and other CHE members. We usually leave from Berkeley at 7:30am in order to hand out the bags. If you have any other questions then please feel free to contact CHE’s Public Relations.
