The Minorities in Health Conference (MIH) is a collaborative Pre-Medical and Pre-Public Health conference organized by theBlack Students in Health Association (BSHA), Chicanos/Latinos in Health Education (CHE) and the Pilipino Association for Health Careers (PAHC) of UC Berkeley. The goal of MIH is to encourage and inspire both high school and undergraduate minorities interested in pursuing a career in the health field. All students interested are invited to take part in this FREE event! The conference offers workshops, panel discussions, guest speakers, and a networking fair, hoping to provide insight and to inspire students to continue paths toward health careers.

We had a great line-up of Guest Speakers last year (2011) including our Keynote Speaker Dr. Barbara Staggers M.D, M.P.H; Panelists Jorge de Luna (VP Clinical Activities, Community Health Partnership) & Manuel Ramirez (Director of Environmental Health for the City of Berkeley); Workshop Speakers Bernard Griego M.P.H, Gilbert Ojeda (Director of the California Program on Access to Care), Abby Rincon (Director of Diversity for the School of Public Health) & much More!!

Our workshops last year (2011) include: Medical School Admissions, Public Health School Admissions, Medical Student Panel, Careers in Health Panel, Learning about Post Baccs, Secrets to Networking, Case Studies-In the mindset of a Physician and Health Care Reform.
