Runs have been switched to 5:30 Monday-Friday since daylight savings time -- sorry for the late update.
Cal Running Club went on a trip to Santa Cruz recently, congratulations to all finishers! Some of the pictures of the race are up
here
and results are here.

Hope the semester is treating everyone well!

Welcome back everyone! We are back to our usual school-year schedule, meeting at 5:30 Mon-Thurs, 4:30 Fri, and 9:30 in the morning on Sunday, at Kroeber Fountain every day. There are no tryouts; if you want to run, just show up! A lot of people have been showing up the past few days, it has been really exciting!
We have a race coming up, the Banana Chase 5K & 10K on Sunday, September 16th. The race website is at http://www.bananachase.com/index2.html
Races are fun to do, but they are not at all mandatory. An email will be sent out next week, email calrunningclub@yahoo.com to RSVP and be added to the email list if you aren't receiving emails from us. There might be a pasta dinner the night before (open to everyone, not just people going to the race), but we haven't decided if it will be at a restaurant or someone's house.
Have fun, and be safe!

We're halfway through the summer, and some emails have gone out to the mailing list but the website hasn't been updated, sorry! The current schedule is to meet to run at 5:30 every day except Sunday, which we've switched to 5:00. In particular, our usual 4:30 friday workouts have been switched to 5:30. These runs are all "unofficial", in that we might not have an officer there every day.
There's a race coming up that a few of us are planning to go to, the San Francisco Marathon Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5k (www.runsfm.com). There are two half marathons -- I think the first half is a prettier course, but it starts at 5:30AM, whereas the second half starts at 8:15AM. If you want to race, let us know so we can all head over there together, and sign up soon before the price goes up!
Since the last update, Cal's Alysia Johnson (running for Cal's track team) won the NCAA championship in the 800m. She then competed in the USATF championships, and won that as well, making her the best 800m runner in the country, collegiate or professional! A youtube video of her USATF performance can be found here.

The school year is almost over! Because our officers will be busy with finals, the rest of our runs will be "unofficial" until the summer. "Unofficial" means we won't guarantee that an officer will be there, but we encourage everyone to show up at the regular time to go run together.
Also, right after finals, on May 20th, is Bay to Breakers! It's one of the biggest and oldest road races in the world. It's 12km (about 7.5 miles) long, and a lot of the people who run it with crazy costumes. A bunch of us will probably run it, ask around for details.
Good luck on finals everyone!

Just wanted to post
a link to an incredible race, the 1983 Millrose Games HS Mile.

Some random announcements:
1. Singlets are here (the shorts, not yet)! Check your emails or contact Kelly for information about when you can pick them up.
2. After the last few friday track workouts we've been getting dinner together, an album with some pictures that Nathan took is here.
3. We need more officers! Positions available include: Run coordinators,
treasurer, fundraising, publicity, sponsorships, etc. The only requirement is at least one semester of membership in the club. Email CalRunningClub@yahoo.com if you're interested.
4. We can always use more drivers for our Sunday runs, as well as for our races and road trips! All drivers will be reimbursed at the end of the semester. If you have a car and are willing to drive occasionally, please email CalRunningClub@yahoo.com.

Welcome back everyone! We are back to our regular meeting times. Some running related news: Ryan Hall ran a 59:43 half marathon on the 14th, smashing the American record and recording the 9th fastest time ever on a non-aided course. There's a cool picture here, a recap on letsrun here, and there's a video here.
Edit: Links fixed.

Starting tomorrow (Monday 12/11)
Running club will be meeting "unofficially" at 4pm every day until the end of finals; there will be no more official runs until next semester. Good luck on your finals everyone!

Dailight savings time has arrived, and the meeting times have stayed the same for now. We have a trail run that we might do this weekend if people are interested (see post from 10.21.2006).
Two links:
A couple weeks ago, we did a run that brought us here, and some people were curious about it.
Also, the NYC Marathon was Sunday. The men's winner was someone nobody would have predicted, Marilson Gomes dos Santos of Brazil. There's a great picture of him finishing here. Pete Gilmore, a local bay area runner, beat top American marathoners Meb Keflezighi, Alan Culpepper and Dathan Ritzenhein to be the first American finisher.

We have two races coming up! On November 5th there is the Run the Golden Gate half marathon, 12k, and 5k. Also, on November 11th there is the Stinson Beach Trail Run (12 Km, 20 Km, 30 Km, & 50 Km
at Stinson Beach. Please RSVP to calrunningclub@yahoo.com if you would like to go.
Also, it's getting dark out earlier, so try to be careful! Wear bright colors, and watch out for cars when the sun starts to go down!

All Runners, welcome back! Please note the new Running Schedule for Fall 2006, which can be found directly to the right or on the Weekly Runs page. Also, be sure to look for us on Sproul! We will be tableing from 10am-2pm all this week.
We have plenty of new runners this semester, so be sure to come
out and meet some fresh faces! Please set a safe
example---watch out for cars, be wary of J-running,
and NO IPODS (or other musical devices)! Help us keep the club both safe and social!
Also, if anyone has a car and is willing to drive runners to
races or sunday runs, please email us!
You will be reimbursed.
The Gallery has also been updated! Check out both the Trial Mile Video and Pictures, and Bay to Breakers pictures!
