Cal Community Music is a service group consisting of student vocalists and instrumentalists from the University of California, Berkeley. Every other week, we put on hour-long concerts at a neighborhood retirement center or convalescent hospital.

Our concerts are relaxed and informal, with a focus on interaction with the residents. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or advanced musician or if you prefer classical or popular music; as long as you have a desire to better the community through music, we invite you to come perform with us!

We know that many of you lead very busy lives, so we don't expect you to come to every concert. Just come whenever you have time, whether that's once a month or once a semester.

MEETINGS
We have general meetings at the beginning, middle, and end of each semester. Other than that, our concerts are our meetings, so feel free to come to as many as you like!

CCM LISTSERV & FACEBOOK GROUP
The listserv is the primary means for communicating information about concerts, meetings, and any other updates. To sign up, just send us a message telling us you'd like to join the mailing list.

If you have Facebook, we also invite you to join our group. We will be posting pictures and event information to the group page.

ATTENDANCE
Members are required to make a minimum of one concert per semester, but feel free to come to as many as you like! However, i
f you say you can make a concert, please show up! If you RSVP early in the week and later find out that you can't make it, please let us know ASAP so we can find another performer.

INSTRUMENTS
Most facilities have a piano in the recreation center or game room, though the quality may vary significantly. If you play an instrument other than piano, we rely on you to bring your own. Some members may be willing to loan their instruments to others, so let the coordinators know if you need an instrument and we will try to work something out.

ENSEMBLES
Some people prefer to play in ensembles rather than solo. You are of course welcome to bring friends and form your own ensembles. Feel free to contact the coordinators If you need help finding an ensemble, and we will try to find you a group based on instrument, level of experience, and style of music. Once you have an ensemble, practice times and locations are up to you, although the coordinators can certainly help organize if necessary. Information on the practice rooms in Morrison Hall and elsewhere can be found here.

Note: If you are in an ensemble and other members of your group are unable to attend a concert, you are still welcome to perform solo if you have a piece prepared.

TRANSPORTATION
We will usually have a car available to help transport the larger instruments, but we do not have enough space to fit all the performers and their instruments. If you have a car and are willing to carpool, please let us know! Otherwise, we rely on AC Transit to get us to our performance sites. All our concerts are scheduled relatively close to the campus, so it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to get there by bus. Hopefully all our members have their "Class Pass," since we will be meeting on campus and taking the bus together.
