This is a picture in Santa Clara Pueblo of the Black Mesa and a church which lays at its foot. The conquistadores constructed many such churches throughout Northern New Mexico. Although this particular church is not used today, many others still are used by the community. The oldest church in the United States is located in San Juan Pueblo and is used for special occasions.
