Description: Have you ever seen Newsies? Citzen Kane? No? It's okay because I haven't either! You don't have to be a journalism buff to join THIS newsletter committee.
What do we do?
The newsletter committee is responsible for publishing a monthly newsletter covering the three tenants of our club: service, leadership, and fellowship. There's also a lot of miscellaneous things in our publication, too, like comic strips, fun facts, recipes, and member spotlights!
What can I do to help?
The worst excuse to NOT join the newsletter committee? "I'm a bad writer." Why? Because you don't have to be a good writer! (That's what editors are for -- haha! I'm kidding.) In fact, you don't even have to know how to write!
There are 5 positions available to everyone in the committee. There are no monthly commitments and no application process. You choose how many articles you want to write, how many photos you want to take, and how many layouts you want to do.
Here are the positions available to you as a committee member:
- Cartoonist/Illustrator
- Staff Writer
- Section Editor
- Layout Designer
- Photographer
- Photo Editor
What will I get out of this committee?
Even though we don't do much "service," we do a TON of leadership and fellowship! You'll be able to work closely with all your fellow committee members to put together a LEGIT newsletter for our club. And as if that weren't enough, there will be bi-monthly newsletter socials that you won't want to miss out on!
And of course, you'll pick up a lot of technical skills! Here are a few:
- You'll be able to learn how to use Adobe InDesign!
- You'll be able to polish your writing skills!
- You'll be able to edit other people's articles!
- You'll be able to play paparazzi and take photos at fun projects and socials!
