Associate
Editors: 2008-2009

History majors of any year may apply
for this position. One must be proficient in grammar, sentence structure
and diction. One also must have an understanding of what constitutes an
intriguing and well-written research paper, and have an interest in history and
appreciation for uniqueness.
The Associate Editor meets with
other Associate Editors and the Editors-in-Chief for paper distribution.
At this meeting each Associate Editor receives 3-5 research papers. They
must read them in about a week, and then email the Editors-in-Chief grades and
comments for each paper. The Editors-in-Chief will then decide with the
Associate Editor which paper is most suitable for publishing, and then the
Associate Editor will have 2-3 weeks to edit the paper, meet with the author,
and have the author email the final paper to the Editors-in-Chief for final publication.
Note: Not every Associate Editor has a paper that is chosen for publication, and likewise if an editor has more than one paper chosen,
the Editors-in-Chief will decide to distribute the extra papers to other Associate Editors.

Dylan Service
Year: Third
Minor: Public Policy
Dylan is interested in the history of Ancient Greece (who isn't), the Civil War (who isn't?), and American Urban History in the early and mid 19th century (ok...maybe there are a few people who don't care about this). He studies history as an excuse to collect funny stories, stupid trivia, and surf Wikipedia. Also, he likes to swim.
Annie Powers
Year: Second
Annie is primarily interested in the history of warfare (particularly the
American Civil War), radical labor movements, and medieval Europe. She
spends her spare time encouraging her male friends to grow Civil War-era

future goals include solving a Sunday crossword puzzle, curing her
hopeless clumsiness, and owning every record produced by the Allman
Brothers Band.
Arlene Elyasi

Arlene's concentration is in United States history, and she is particularly interested the Colonial Era and the Civil Rights Movement. She also enjoys British history, especially that of the Victorian Age
Eric Juster

Park's number on hand in case of emergency.

Michael Lu
Year: Third
Double Major: Philosophy
Michael's greatest fascination in history resides in the realm of Early Modern
European History. More specifically, his interests in
the Early Modern European epoch focus especially on one event, the French
Revolution.
In his spare time, he likes to access Wikipedia online and just immerse
himself for hours in reading articles about whatever subjects are
unfamiliar to him. He honestly feels that the website is capable of expanding
his base of knowledge, even if all he takes from it are the most rudimentary
facts (since professional scholars have deemed it "unreliable"). Besides,
it is free to use.

Year:Fourth
Karen Tobias is a fourth year History major with a French minor. Her
concentration is in 19th century European society, and an interest in
multiculturalism in Europe today. She loves to travel and she is part of
1% of the world population that has circumnavigated the globe. She loves
to take hikes and her favorite moments are when she has a clear view of
the San Francisco Bay. She has recently had the shocking revelation that
she wants to go to medical school and pursue a career in medicine.
