Brief Project Description
This project outlines the environmental benefits of biodiesel vehicles and hybrid vehicle in comparison to gasoline vehicles.  This project aims to inform the general public about environmentally sustainable alternative vehicles.  This project hopes to inform them about the pros and cons of purchasing different types of vehicles.  With this information the consumer will be better prepared to make a good economic and environmental decision when purchasing their next vehicle.

Why Did I Choose This Project?
I chose this project because it allows me to explore two topics that are important to me, the environment and business.  As an environmentalist I enjoy staying abreast of the most recent technological advances that aid in the protection of the environment and as a business major I enjoy investigating the economic viability of these environmentally sustainable technologies.  I hope to one day combine these two interests with my entrepreneurial spirit, by bringing an environmentally sustainable service or product to the market.  Protecting the environment and running a business are often seen as antithetical.  However, this project demonstrates that there exists a great demand for environmentally sustainable alternatives in today’s society and marketplace.

Project Benefits
This project offers students the flexibility to perform research on a wide range of topics which allows the students to research a topic that they are passionate about.  There are few research opportunities throughout the college experience that allow such flexibility.  This project is also a great learning tool.  It allows a student the opportunity to learn about the intricacies of web design, all the while keeping in mind that the purpose of a webpage is offer information to its viewers.  This project allows the students to combine much of the information that they learn in class and apply this information in a real world setting.

Lessons Learned
The most important lesson that I learned while designing the webpage is that the purpose of a webpage is to communicate information to its reader.  Thus, maintaining a clear and concise webpage is a crucial aspect of web design.  The other lessons that I found most enlightening were discovered while I performed the research for the project.  This project reinforces the importance of independent research because so much of the information that is available to the general public is incomplete and biased.  I found the information regarding the environmental benefits of hybrid vehicles to be the most biased.  Another important lesson that I learned is the importance of using life cycle environmental assessments.

Obstacles Encountered
There were many obstacles in the production of this production of this project.  There were several bugs that needed to be worked out so that my project could function properly.  These were some of the most time consuming obstacles that I encountered.  I also faced several obstacles while doing the research for my topic.  The greatest difficulties that I encountered during the research had to do with the lack of information regarding the negative impacts of hybrid vehicles.  Many people hold the hybrid vehicle in such high regard that they do not find it necessary to research the negative environmental impacts of a hybrid vehicle.
