[1/29/05] My Bday Dinner and Bowling with friends
Since my birthday ended up falling on a Tuesday night I decided to celebrate it on Friday so everyone could come hang out. Lauren, Lucas, Stevo, Dave, Hendrick, and Ed ended up meeting up at my house and car pooling to the restaurant Thai Garden. Windy and Jenn, my lil sisters ended up coming home for the weekend. Windy had too much homework so she couldn't come hang out with us, but Jenn actually tagged along =). Christina, Adam, Michael, Sabine, and Malini met up with us at the restaurant. Trav was having a really bad day with directions and ended up getting lost on the way to the restaurant but he finally made it.

Christina made me this really kick ass snowboard cake. It was so cool and yummy.
After dinner we met up with Marcus, Alcorn, and Linh at the bowling alley. Good thing Marcus ended up coming early and signing up for 2 lanes because apparently ppl in Hayward love to go bowling on Friday nights. Some of us didn't end up bowling because there was 19 of us and only 2 lanes, so only 10 people could play at a time. I didn't actually end up sucking that much and got a high score of 95, which I know isn't that great but it's the best I've ever done =P hehe. Once we were all tired of bowling Trav and Ed came over to to my place to watch the movie Saw. Man the first of half of the movie was pretty freaky and disturbing. I was expecting to get nightmares that night but luckily that didn't happen. It was because I thought of happy thoughts and care bears heheh. I've always uses care bears to protect me from scary things ever since I was little =P. Click Here for more pictures from the night.
[1/23-1/24/05] My Bday Present from Carlo
I was completely ticked off and pissed at the world Friday night and all Saturday because I couldn't find a ride to Tahoe. My friend Chris ended up flaking on me because he had a stomach ache and didn't wanna go anymore ... what the hell is that. I was so mad that I couldn't go snowboarding with Carlo especially since it was my bday present from him and his dad got us a hotel in Reno. I even got so desperate that I put up a ad for a ride on craigslist =P. Carlo ended up asking his friend Monique to drive me up =D. Yah so Monique is really cool in my book hehe. Tommy and Lilly also were in the car with us. The ride up wasn't weird or awkward as I thought it might be since I didn't really know any of these people especially considering the fact that they're hella young ... not even 21 yet. Man I was hangin out with ppl younger than my lil sisters ... how lame hehe.
We ended up getting to Alpine about 9am. Tommy and Lilly were pretty much beginners so Carlo and Shayan were teaching them how to snowboard. Monique isn't a beginner but not that great either. I'm not tryin to say that I'm super good =P but I can go down blues, black diamonds, and kinda do moguls. Shayan is pretty good too he's about my level. We ended up staying with the beginners for the first half of the morning. After a while me and Carlo decide to cut out and go have fun on some other rides.

We decide to go up to the top of the mountain which wasn't bad at all. Shayan, Monique, Tommy, and Lilly ended up walkie talking us and telling us to meet them at the Lodge for lunch. Ok from where we were that meant we would have to cut through a bunch of trees and unmarked areas to get back down to the Lodge. I really hate trees and at one point when I was tryin to cut left I ate it really bad and almost somersaulted completely over on to my back. At this point I'm super frustrated and Carlo can tell but he's still tryin to get me to cut over left. I ended up unstrapping and climbing up the hill where it looks like there's an actual path. Carlo decided to continue down through the trees. Here below is a map of the two different paths we took. The purple path is what I did and the orange is what Carlo did.
So after Carlo leaves me I discover that there is actually no trail up at the top and its a bunch of moguls through trees. I'm so tired after climbing up the hill that I kinda end up dropping my board so it slips down the mountain until it's stopped by a tree. By this time I'm already pretty frustrated but I have no idea that it's gonna end up gettin worse. I ended up strapping back into my board. I see these 3 skiers who are also tryin to figure out how to get down this stupid mountain. They thought that the snow might be softer on this side but we all discover that it was just as icy and hard. I ended up hitting a couple trees with my board while I'm still cutting left =P. If you look at the picture above there's a boulder circled in blue. Man so these 3 skiers felt bad for me cuz I was kinda freaked out and they wanted to make sure I got down ok. The Ski patrol doesn't patrol the section I was at ... just great huh. I'm sure you can imagine how much I loved Carlo then =P. This boulder has a pretty narrow path that I'm suppose to go on to get to the Lodge. Basically I knew if I tried to snowboard it I would either totally hit the boulder or go too far down and miss the trail. So I ended up sliding across the snow on my ass talking to one of the skiers as I tried to cross over. After that point it wasn't as bad still tons of trees and stupid moguls. Shayan kept beeping me after I finish crossing the boulder because he wanted to know where me and Carlo were. I told him I was tryin to keep from killing myself so stop harassing me at the moment hahaa. When Carlo ended up showing up at the Lodge later Shayan told him I was pissed off. Carlo's there sitting with his friends tell them to not worry because I won't be pissed off that he left me and took me up through trees when I walk up to him and slap him with my wet gloves. Hahah. Shows him just how well he knows me hehe ... actually looking back I gotta say I prolly wouldn't have hit him if I didn't have the pissed off anger towards Chris from the day before. So children let this be a lesson to you ... don't be the last thing that ticks me off and pushes me over the edge =P. Anyways, Carlo takes me hitting him in stride and hands me a beer, which I pretty much chug since I'm so thirsty by that point. After lunch Shayan decides to ditch the beginners and hang out with us on the harder runs. Wow the snow was so much nicer on the blue runs. Me and Shayan decided that those runs were definitely the best of the whole day.

Later that night me and Carlo go drinking beers downstairs because none of the other guys wanted to drink. Carlo's friend Heather from Reno comes to hang out with us. She's kinda weird. Anyways, she meets this random guy Derek whose our age and in Reno for business. I ended up talking to him a lot and he reminds me a lot of Kasper tho I gotta admit Kasper is alot cooler hehe. We dorked out on a convo about Real Estate while Carlo and Heather were talking about Linux. Haha yah as Lauren would say there definitely wasn't enough alky flowing during our convo. I should have got Derek's number now that I think about it. I actually cared about what he was talking about unlike other times when I meet guys and just talk to them to figure out if I think they're cool enough. Carlo mention that I'm a passive listener on the drive back and I realized it's pretty much true. I don't really offer up alot of info about myself and I usually end up talking about the other person and trying to extract information that I might want. I can see it being true cuz I'm always curious about things that I don't know and like learning about new things. So I need to find a smart guy hehe. Me and Lauren are gonna hit up bookstores so I can meet guys hahah. Well, once Derek leaves to go to sleep me and Carlo start drinking alot faster. It got to a point where I didn't really know why Heather stayed around cuz she wasn't really talking much or drinking. I just decided to ignore whatever two of them where doing and be neurotic and entertain myself by peeling the labels off the beer bottles. hehe. I actually was enjoying myself and it was better than tryin to talk to Heather.

Ok so I ended up going to the lobby and sitting down on their comfy chairs. By this time I'm on my 5th beer in like 2 hours and only 4 hours of sleep, which is more sleep than Carlo had. Carlo ended up drinking the rest of the beer in my hand and taking me back to our room so I could pass out on the bed. |

[1/17/05] Up in Berkeley hangin with Sabine
I had to go up to Berk to get a teacher recommendation from my Chinese professor for studying abroad. After I got done with that hung out with Sabine the rest of the day. She moved into a new place down on College which is actually pretty nice. Her old roommate from the I house and her bf are staying at Sabine's for a while so we all went to grab lunch at Pasta Pomodoro. I gathered the forces and got some of the guys together to meet up at Christina's to hang out and watch 24. I have still yet to become sucked into 24 despite most of my friends watching the show heheh. So I knew this fight was coming and it happened once I got home. I got in a fat fight with my parents about me going out too much according to them. Sheesh seriously whatever but some points were established like the facts that my parents do trust me [even though Ed said if his daughter was like me he would lock her up at home =P] and my dad is having trouble letting us grow up and be adults cuz he thinks of me and my sisters as his lil babies who always need to be protected. So I think we're tryin to compromise and work things out more.
[1/10/05] Hanging out with the Weirdo
I haven't hung out with Carlo in a while cuz he was so busy last semester. He came over in the afternoon to fix the wiring job that he did for my parent's house. After he finish fixing the ethernet set up I decided to go over to his house to keep him company while he cleaned his room. I'm original and Carlo's weirdo. Why do we call each other this ... cuz we do =D heheh. Dottie's blind now =( it's really sad. Carlo for some reason I dunno why has decided that I should learn the guitar so he's teaching me heheh. I basically can't really play crap yet and man my wrist hurt like a bitch after playing for a while. Damn my small hands and not being able to stretch that much. Haha this so reminds me of when I was little and startin to learn the viola. I should really start practicing that again. Carlo plays this Sci Fi movie called Earth Sea for me to watch while he's cleaning his room. I've actually kinda gotten sucked in and wanna see what happens in the 2nd half. There's actually alot of famous actors in it like Kristen Krek, Danny Glover, and Isabella Rosolli. We went to Tony Roma's at Union Landing for dinner and before and after dinner Carlo had to go to Starbucks and get his caffeine hit. Dude school has so screwed up his caffeine intake with all the Red Bulls and Carmel Macchiato. It's been raining none stop lately in the Bay Area, which I don't really mind that much but the roads to Tahoe better not be close when I go up to snowboard on the 23 and 24 =P.
