[6/29/08] White Water Rafting at Cache Creek

A bunch of our friends really wanted to go white water rafting where they actually got to paddle through some rapids. The cheapest self guide trip we could find was the Cache Creek one. It was only $35 a day instead of $150 for the guided trips. The boats were 2 person rafts so we needed an even group of people. Zac and Kate came and so did Lauren and Lucas. Eunji and Tim were going to come but then Tim hurt his back.

We got the dock area around 9:30 and the sun was already starting to beat down on us. The sky looked pretty hazy from all the fires. At the beginning of the river me and Erik hadn't quite got the handle of paddling and steering, so we kept getting suck on all these rocks. I definitely wasn't too happy and didn't think it much fun. Once Erik started using his paddle as a ruder we improved by 700%. The rapids were pretty fun when we didn't keep crashing into the rocks. At the last rapid of the day, which is also the most intense one, Erik popped out of the boat and then I fell out of the front. It was a bit shocking when I first hit the water and then the current was pushing us down the river. I was going down the river head first, which was not good because I ended up banging my knee against a rock, and ended up finally flipping around. When Erik fell out he hung on to the boat so we didn't lose that. The paddles floated down river but we ended up retrieving them back. The rest of the river was pretty chill.

I'll post the pictures from the river once I get them from Lauren.

[6/21/08] Derek's Muy-Thai Fight

Dennis was in town for a week back from Korea. He hasn't been back to the Bay Area in at least 2 years I think. It was great to catch up with him and see him. We went to the Santa Clara Convention center to see Derek fight. He was the 6th fighter of the night. There were even a couple rounds where chicks fought each other. I thought the chick fighters look better than some of the guy fighters hehe =P.

[6/20/08] Zachary's Pizza with Isabel

I needed to be in Emeryville on Saturday for a wine tasting event at Periscope Cellars. They are the main winery in this redevelopment project I'm working on in Oakland so I wanted to meet the owner. Erik had an interview in Richmond at Sunpower so he just Barted over when he was done. He's never had Zachary's pizza and I haven't been there since college so I figured it would be a great place to meet up for dinner. Isabel brought her bf Jimmy, another couple, and her older brother Mike.

Afterwards we went to Fentons for some yummy ice cream. Lena told me to get the pineapple coconut ice cream, which I thought was pretty good but I wish it was less melty and firmer.

[6/14/08] Castle Rock

Erik and I decided to go hiking somewhere new so he discovered Castle Rock is suppose to have the best views of the Bay. We left his apartment around 3:30ish and it took us about 30 minutes to get there. One section of the highway was super narrow with crazy tight turns. I would have never ever driven it =P. Castle Rock is famous for these huge rocks that have great hand holds. Rock climbers love to come here and boulder. I'm still not comfortable boulder and get scared of falling off the rock. There were some mosquitoes flying around, which made me not so happy since I have them. The views were very pretty and we got so see some pretty valleys. Most of the foliage on the path seemed pretty green to me, but it definitely was about 15 degrees hotter in the sun than the shade.

Drama came later on so we didn't end up getting home till about 10 that night. I was definitely super tired and my right ankle started hurting again, so I wasn't a happy camper.
