What we do
Danceworx was founded in 1984 and is the oldest student-run dance group on the UC Berkeley campus. For over 20 years we have
been providing students with a creative outlet to choreograph, dance, and perform in a fun and supportive environment.
Dancers are selected at the beginning of each semester and practice routines in various styles: Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Tap.
Throughout the semester, we host social events such as Bowling, Movie Nights and our End of the Semester Banquet so our dancers
can get to know each other better.
Each semester culminates in three performances: two outdoor showcases on the UC Berkeley campus and an evening showcase in a
local theater venue. Our showcases attract over 400 attendees each semester and also feature guest performances from campus and
local community groups to foster unity and promote diversity among UC Berkeley’s performing arts community.
Danceworx also performs at campus and local events. If you would like Danceworx to perform at one of your events, please contact
our Outreach Chair, Nicole Louie ( dwxoutreach@gmail.com ).

How you can get involved
Dancers – Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester, usually during the second weekend of school with make-up auditions
for those that were unable to make it during the following week. During the audition process, you will learn a short routine and
perform in small groups in front of the choreographers.
Choreographer – Choreographer auditions are held at the beginning of each semester, usually during the first week of school. No
previous experience in Danceworx necessary.
Guest Performers – Danceworx welcomes cultural and performing arts groups to perform in our bi-annual showcases. For more
information, please contact our Outreach Chair, Nicole Louie ( dwxoutreach@gmail.com ).
