General classroom how to's:

Teaching Philosophy

All students will learn successfully
Know and care about each student
Motivate for success by motivating to dream
Quizzes everyday, Exams every 2 weeks
Teach for learning, not the deadline (repeating a test, with new questions, okay)

Classroom Management

Respect the teacher

Start the year explaining procedures
Share rubrics to set expectations with a sliding scale to reach acceptability
Post pictures as references to remind students of expectations

During group work, questions must be discussed amongst table group before asking the teacher
Any one from the group can be asked for clarification or to ask the question

Work with the students to stay learning
Rules are meant to keep students safe and in the classroom (not a checklist on how to get kicked out)

Collaboration

The more minds, the better
A process can always be improved
Constructive criticism is awesome
Great teachers don't live in isolation, they work in great schools and districts

Parents and the Community

Everyone wants their child to succeed
As a teacher, learn about the community and become an insider
Make student information and the classroom accessible to parents
