I really can’t wait till I can officially quit this job. I’m currently doing no more than bloating the University of California housing budget. I have become everything I’ve grown to hate…

By the way, I got the job. :)

I know, I’m a terribly active blogger and most of you wait paitently, refreshing my webpage, hoping to get some hot tidbit of information from the mouth of Dimas. To be perfectly honest, my lovely audience of two, posts will likely ramp up once Linda goes to Moscow. For now, we have the same twice-a-monthers we’ve had on 1up. At least here I don’t have to deal with stupidity :) .

So I was up at roughtly 8 am this morning after having tried to wake up at 6. My hope was to have an email from my future employer telling me when I could start and what my schedule would be. A little overly ambitious, I suppose, considering I still hadn’t been offered the job, but still, it seemed as if all they had to work out were details and that the job was in the bag. At any rate, here is Monday morning and I am still employed in a job I hate, with not enough hours and not high enough a pay rate to pay for the trips I need to take. On the upside, I did get a 25 cent per hour raise. Whoopee.

So I’m hoping to hear back from them today with a yes or a no. Either one, and not just “we’re still working things out.” The possibility of this job has excited me enough about this summer to reinvigorate life into my other projects, which I’ve put on hold until I get the final word on this job. At this point, if I hear a no, I’ll have enough in me to get a roadmap and real work started on this thing. Same if I hear yes, just a different roadmap and a different schedule. But I’m stuck where I am until then.

I have plenty to do until then, I suppose. Like pee. And fulfill promises.

So I think I’ve found a theme I like for the blog. It still loads pretty slowly, particularly on the admin end, but I think it will do for my purposes. I may start writing on a regular basis, but before I do, I’d like to come up with an interesting title and subtitle. I apologize in advance if my writing is unclear or hard to follow. I’ve never really written prose for an audience before so I don’t quite know what to expect from this. I also cannot guarantee that I’ll keep this up for very long, so don’t get your hopes up :) . I say this of course to an audience of, like, 2.

I’m thinking about using some existing blog software, possibly word press itself, and using it in one of my projects. Why reinvent the wheel right? This way I wouldn’t have to start from scratch, but I don’t know how difficult it would be to integrate the code. I’ve read that wordpress is not coded very elegantly. Either way, since time is running short for my personal goals with this, it definitely wouldn’t hurt to build from a project that has a lot of the functionality I’m looking for already. I’ll start taking a look at it tomorrow…possibly…

I now have my hands full with far too many projects. Assassins, waterbugs with Ian, my research project, wolf house netman stuff, USCA IT stuff, Wolf House policy and finance stuff, and rescomp, only the last of which pays. I’ve decided to take on a lot more hours at work now so I can fund my living expenses, but I don’t know how that will leave time for me to work on these other projects. I’m worried that I might have to drop some of them, which for many of them, I really wouldn’t want to do. Anyway, hopefully I can start scheduling some of it so I can get a better idea of what I’m getting myself into.

So yeah, I don’t offer my opinion on the goings on of the world. Hopefully this doesn’t turn into a livejournal :) . In the future though, I’ll probably post my opinions on video games and stuff, in case that’s the kind of crap you’re looking for. Until then, does anyone know how to get a hold of Lorne Lanning?

Again, testing out weblogging, this time with word press. There doesn’t seem to be much of a speed advantage at all, which makes me think the bottleneck is with ocf, a shame considering i really wouldn’t want to have to pay for webspace. maybe for now this will suit my needs, though.
